I have totally lost my car keys. Thank goodness for another set and since it hs been two months, I have given them up for lost forever. St Anthony could not even find them this time. Saturday, I was browsing at Steinmart and found this "Totes" key ring that when you whistle the key ring starts beeping. I bought it and brought it home. My husband I tried it out. It beeps when you whistle but my whistle is not loud enough. My husband and I both cracked up. Back to the drawing board!

What's Steinmart? I've never heard of that store. I need a whole bunch of those things to put on my remotes and phones and keys and .........I bet I could whistle loud enough to make them work!!! and a whistle is something that I couldn't misplace. I go outside and whistle to get the dog to come back into the yard all the time. My aunt always used to say to me--Whistling girls and crowing hens always come to no good ends. Maybe that's been my problem all along!!!!????? Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Debra--I don't think it is, but to tell you the truth--I found the directions for a universal remote in my mom's room when I was cleaning in there. I think it's one that we bought for her with the idea of putting all of her gadgets on one remote. I have no idea where the remote that goes WITH the directions is though. It's OLD because it works with a TV, VCR and Cable Box--Like we ever had cable out here in the country--NOT. So you could come visit me anytime, but I can't even keep track of my own things--much less yours!!!!! Life is Great Smiles NancyLee

Actually laughing out loud. My cancer brain story: I was coming down the stairs and saw a bottle of windex sitting atop the bannister. I thought to myself: I've been looking for that. (Now its not as if I have a dozen sets of stairs in my house - there's only one set.) I can't believe how silly I am that I've come up and down the stairs a dozen times and hadn't seen it. No biggie. I take the Windex in my hand, all the while I'm shaking my head because I can't remember what I wanted the Windex for. I actually heard myself say: I think I wanted that there and put the Windex back atop the bannister. It's still there three days later and I can't remember what I wanted to clean with it.

Clearly, we need to advise the new people starting chemo that they need to buy extras of all the important things before they start chemo and put them in a drawer marked "CHEMO BRAIN ITEMS" (And then tell somebody where the drawer is)

    Car keys
Remotes (with the setup already done)
Phone/Address book (so they can call their phone and find it)
Photocopy of all credit cards (front and back, so they'll have the phone number to call to report them missing)

But I don't think they need to get an extra fallopian tube -- or a sweater for it

Think I need to get a whistle key ring for my fanny pack, which gets lost someplace in the house about once a week and only missed when I'm running out the door to drive my DD to the train station to go to work. And since it contains my keys, driver's license, checkbook ... a place for everything, if only I could find the place.

I was 'winterizing' my outside yesterday. I put away my chairs and the table, and then I went to put away the comfy lounger that I bought for my daughter. But wait. Where's her matching chair?

I cannot believe someone came in my back yard and stole Sarah's matching chair. What the heck is going on here?

I was so mad, I called her (she is away at college ) and started telling her the awful news. I tell her I'd bet it was her sneaky, lying, conniving father.

She's trying to interupt and then just bursts out laughing. She said, "Mom, I have it. Remember I asked if I could take it here with me? It was about three weeks ago."

    Oh, never mind..........

Okay--now this is something BIG. Remember when my mom threw out the paddle that goes to the bread making machine? Well, I contacted the company and they finally sent me a replacement paddle and I went to put it in the machine just now and I can't find it. I've looked all over the kitchen in every nook and cranny. All I can think is that my sister put it somewhere when she was here helping me clean house last Spring. I'll wait til she gets off work and give her a call. She lives in Oregon so is in a different time zone from me. I actually got off work early tonight. Yay--but where is my bread machine???????? Found my bread machine--made a whole wheat 7 grain loaf--made the whole house smell wonderful. OK--so I went to a conference 80 miles from home--I drove and when we got out of the jeep I took the keys out of the ignition and had all the other ladies lock their doors because we were in a bigger city than ours and parked in a college parking lot. We went in to the conference and when we came back out, I couldn't find my keys. We searched through pockets and bags and I found an extra set in my backpack. So we drove the 80 miles back home and I drove the 10 miles out to my ranch. This was on Saturday. Then I drove in to town and back home on Sunday and to work and back home on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday morning I was driving to work and it was raining and the wind was blowing really hard and I heard a metallic sound on the roof of my jeep. I stopped on a pull over place on the highway and got out and looked and "Lo and Behold", there were my missing keys. It was just an ignition key, the door key, 2 medical alert dogtags and a beaded pink ribbon keychain but they had ridden around on the top of that jeep for almost a week and I hadn't seen them and nobody else had for that matter either. I can't believe that they didn't fall off and get lost. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

I was getting ready to leave the house, had some things to do before leaving, walked with purpose to a corner of my kitchen, stood there wondering 1)how did I get there and 2) WHY did I walk with such purpose and totally forget why???

    Where is my brain?

I found my remote this morning in the washing machine with my bed sheets.

Can I put the remote in the dryer also with my sheets?

I had to come on to say how much I enjoyed reading this thread today! For some reason, it reminded me of how satisfied I was this morning when I was able to fix my mother's computer...

The internet wasn't working and she thought maybe the recent wind storm had caused problems. However, I was able to find and fix an unplugged cord WITHOUT EVEN CALLING THE TECHNICAL SUPPORT line!

I am now 20 months past chemo and 6 months past the end of herceptin. As my brilliant work this morning shows, you too will regain some of your mental function!

Two unopened water bottles in the kitchen. I had gone in to get a bottle and then got side tracked. Did I put that bottle there? I don't remember. So, I took another bottle and found yet ANOTHER bottle on my computer table. Did I put that one there or is that the one I wasn't sure I put in the kitchen before being side tracked???

i've learned it's impossible for me to put "delicates" in the dryer for "just a couple minutes" to get the wrinkles out and then hang to dry. I get distracted in those couple minutes and end up "frying" them until they're dry and even more wrinkled cuz i left the stuff in there for 2 days...instead of the planned 2 minutes.

Oh..my..goodness..I had never looked at this thread until today and what a laugh you have given me. My son tells everyone that I'd lose my head if it weren't screwed on tight and he's soooo right!
I've actually lost my mind...gonna check my dryer. I think my mind went the way my breasts did and I don't want to even think about where they ended up!!!
Thanks for making me feel like I'm not the only scatterbrained one here!

Oh my...I'm gonna be in trouble. I already consider myself ADD...what on earth will happen when I start my chemo in December? My two kids are both diagnosed ADD (no H for any of us) and we already lose everything! When does "chemo brain" begin and how long does it last? Concerning the "whistle for your keys" gizzmo; there's a store called The Sharper Image that sells some key finders. I'm pretty sure you can order from them online. By the way...thanks to all of you for the humour on this thread. Being a newbie to bc, I sometimes find myself wanting to have a little pitty party and it's so good to find something to laugh about:)

Teacher, I asked a co-worker who had chemo 5 years ago when the "cognitive deficits" would end. She just shook her head slowly and said "they don't, because what chemo didn't destroy, menopause will." Well, after chemo ended, my husband said "hey, your IQ is coming back!" LOL Right now I am a year past chemo and things are getting better, but I still have to write notes to myself or I'll forget to do things. Keep your sense of humor, it's the only way to get through!! Good luck to ya!

Now what was I going to do....? Oh yeah, I came online to check my bank balance.....

geez...went Christmas shopping yesterday and actually bought double gifts (not just one thing but THREE)...my sister was with me and told me that the one thing I was buying she was pretty sure I already had and I insisted that I didn't...she was right! Like I have the extra to throw away...oh my...I have truly lost my mind.
Thanksgiving day when my daughter called I answered the phone and said "Happy birthday"...she got quite a kick out of that one as did my sister and brother in law. Well...as my sister and brother in law were getting ready to leave my sister hugged me and said "Happy Easter". Oh was she embarrassed and I just laughed...It then turned into a big joke and we wished each other a happy "every" holiday we could think of. Guess it isn't always "chemo brain".
ravdeb...I can usually remember what I'm going to write...just can never remember what I want to say...open my mouth...nothing comes out...total blank.
