When to start treatment after lumpectomy

HI everyone..

I hope this finds everyone well. I had lumpectomy and breast reduction/balancing on 3/22 and have recovered well ( almost too well ).. I went to the oncologist on Wednesday and have decided not to do chemo since it will only afford me a 3% difference in recurrence rates and don't feel that the small percentage difference is enough to subject myself to chemo and all that goes along with it.

I will be doing radiation and will go on AI ... I have an appointment on Tuesday to discuss the different medications, their side effects and see which one the dr recommends for me... My tumor was ER+ 100% PR+ 70% there was no lymph involvement and clean margins. I have a consultation scheduled with the RO on 4/26.

Here is my question: I know that radiation will to start until I return my my vacation on May 5.. I was told that is fine since the breast needs time to heal from the surgery and by that time it will be 6 weeks post op... Do you normally start the AI at the same time as radiation or afterwards?

I wouldn't start them until after my vacation because don't want to possibly have side effects and be in the middle of the ocean without proper medical care.

So, AI before, during , or after radiation ?

Thanks in advance and are they any questions I should ask about the AI ?

Diane

My RO recommends starting radiation within 3 months of surgery, and my MO says hormone treatment should start within three months after completing radiation.
