Waiting is so difficult Lilkrazy4404 but you will find amazing support here. My biopsy was performed immediately after my ultra sound and I was told before I left the clinic to be prepared for a cancer diagnosis. I sincerely hope for a benign result for you. Try to keep busy, do things you enjoy and avoid google. Thinking of you and sending positive thoughts. Donna.

    Hi Lil, and welcome.

Because the image on the U/S had irregular margins and internal flow (meaning blood flow), it needs to be biopsied. That doesn't mean it is cancer, there are other things it can be. But it's important to biopsy it and find out one way or the other.

Smurf gave you some good advice because the waiting is hard. Don't do any research. Until you have the results of a biopsy, you really don't know what you are dealing with. Keep busy.

You've gotten good advice.....don't do any research until you know for sure what is going on. Trust me, the research will only scare you and so much of it that you find on the internet is not true anyway. (This website, however, is an excellent source of accurate info!)
Waiting is absolutely the hardest part of this. Try to keep busy and not dwell on this. So much easier said than done, I know!

I finally got to see the surgeon this morning. He scheduled me for mammatome biopsy for Friday morning. He said he will insert a clip in the area for further future sugieries when the time comes. He said at some point this mass will need to be removed. I really liked the surgeon and he made me feel more at ease. He also said yes it has charectoistics of bc but that doesn't Mean it is. Basiclly just wait some more

Lil, the waiting SUCKS. We know this.

Know that there are other things that have similar characteristics, so yes, it can still be B9. But it is important to find out for sure.

    Thanks Marie,

I do feel much better now that I have spoken to the doctor. He said that I also have a fibroidadnoma in the same breast and this "mass" could possibly be another one. Of course after I left more questions popped up in my head, like, if you can be certain that the one area is a fibroidadnoma why can't you know that this other "mass" is one also? What other types of breast masses show up like the one that I have? I should have written these questions down. I'll ask in the morning when I get my biopsy done. This time going in with my paper and pen....LOL

I recently had a core biopsy because of same finding as yours on mammo and US. The biopsy came back saying "appears to be fibroadenoma". My doctor isn't comfortable with that and is sending me to breast surgeon for a lumpectomy. The spot is 1.1 cm. he said biopsy results don't match mammo. Any thoughts

    Toni,

When do you see the BS? How long did it take for your pathology to come back? What was your Birad score? I am happy your surgeon is being proactive for you and not just going with it "appears to be" there is a big difference between appears and is. Sending prayers for good results for you.

sounds like we're both about in the same boat; your situation seems very similar to where I am. I go for the biopsy consult tomorrow. The waiting is the worst. I stress knit, this is going to be the year everybody gets a scarf for Christmas I think

Hi Lil- Yes! Waiting does suck and my U/S sounds a lot like yours except my measurements are 9mm X 4mm X 7 mm and my bi rads was 4C. My biopsy is tomorrow morning and I was fine dealing with this but as the day goes on I can feel a bit of anxiety setting in. I'm hoping for great results for you!

    Patti72,

I did receive my results, and the Dr. said it was just scar tissue. I felt kind of brushed off, I asked him how scar tissue can have blood flow? He said well, it can. He didn't even bother to do a breast exam following the biopsy on my follow up visit. I am now in the process of getting a second opinion. I go to another Dr. this Friday. I have had 2 biopsies before on the right breast for microcalcifications. I have been going for mammograms and follow up ultra-sounds for almost 10 years. I was even a bi-rad 5 at one point and told it was most certainly cancer. After biopsy, it was found to be benign and I didn't even question that. I am 43, and this is the first time that I have questioned my results. Something in the back of my mind is saying something just isn't right. This is also the first time that I am going for a second opinion. The surgeon that did my biopsy said to just follow up in 6-months. I am just not comfortable with that.

I pray all is well with you.

Lil I am really glad you are getting a second opinion, go with your gut. I wouldn't like theidea of getting the brush off either- that alone would rub me wrong as well as the scar tissue having its own blood flow. I've never heard that but I'm not a doctor obviously 😜 10 years is a long time to be having issues like this, especially with birad 5 levels floating around. I really hope you find someone that takes their time with you and explains things in detail.

I'm just waiting to hear my biopsy results...it's only been like 32 hours so I'm sure it will be a while 😖 I'm thinking Friday...I had it done Tuesday morning.

I just got the same results: hypoechoic solid mass irregular margins suspicious of malignancy. Biopsy scheduled for April 30 th. No symptoms. Just found on mammography. VERY scared.
