Swelling above clavicle; lymph nodes? waiting on results...
Hello all. Has anyone dealt with this? I went for a routine checkup with my surgeon on Tuesday 2/16. He felt the top of my shoulders and told me I had "fullness" on my left side, above my collarbone. He said he could definitely see it and definitely feel it. I asked him what could cause that. He told me we were "going to go with worst case scenario and say it's the lymph nodes." He ordered a CT scan with and without contrast. I had that yesterday, 2/18. I expected to get the results today. No such luck. So here I am, terrified until I get "the call" on Monday. The lump feels like a raised muscle to me. But I have had no injuries whatsoever to that area--ever. After my appt I went in the bathroom to see what he was talking about. I immediately broke down crying. It was so obvious and looked so big. I couldnt believe I never noticed it. Has anyone else had anything similar? I am really scared.

{hugs}
It literally could be anything. Haven't really got any more advice but I'm right next to you holding your hand - waiting for results is just the worst x

keep us posted. Let's hope for some oddball benign cause such as a nearby irritation which caused the lymph nodes to swell.

Waiting with you rockalley. Stupid, stupid, cancer.

Going through almost the same thing! A doctor where I work noticed my neck and I hadn't either. Booked an appointment to see my GP. Got sent for an ultrasound. They have ordered a biopsy because my lymph nodes had some funny shape going on. Waiting since Monday to hear a date/time. GP said 'I don't want you to worry' Ha😀 I don't think it's possible not to! Hope it's nothing for both of us! !

It happened to me once. It turned out to be lymphadema

Thanks AKJ. Its nice to have an alternative to mets! I have to LE in my arm and torso so it's a definite possibility. What do they do for LE in your neck?
-
keep us posted. Sorry for the worry. Hoping for good news

Clarrn, I just continued with my manual lymphatic drainage that my PT taught me. It got better. I focused on my neck area a lot.
-
Rockalley, my BS told me you can't feel the clavicle nodes from the outside

We are going to re-ultrasound in 2 months. Waiting sucks!
-
Uuugh. The waiting does suck!
-
Ooo - you generally cannot feel normal supraclavicular nodes, but if they are enlarged, you might be able to palpate and possibly even see them. The supraclavicular nodes, unlike in the neck and axilla, generally do not swell as a result of infection so it should be checked if there is swelling in that area.
