Doctors found large mass in my pelvis. Terrified!

Options

Hi All,

Doctors recently found a large tumor the size of a grapefruit in my pelvis. I am having surgery on April 20 (seems like a long time away!). I am worried about the results.

The doctors seem stumped---they have no idea what type of tumor it is (other than it's large, complex, solid, multi-loculated, with thickened septations) or even what it is attached to. It appears to be in my lower right quadrant, near the midline. I have had 2 ultrasounds, CT and a colonoscopy (results good).

My CA125 and CEA markers came back good. I had a hysterectomy 12 years ago and I only have 1 ovary remaining, which appears unremarkable. I can't imagine that my small amount of invasive breast cancer could be metastatic now?

I was so positive when I was dealing with breast cancer last year. I don't feel positive now. I have been imagining the worst. :( On a positive note---two of the best surgical oncologists in my town will be operating on me, so I am not worried about the surgery, just the results.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for reading,

Deb

    Hi Meow13,

Are you having symptoms? I have been dealing with sharp pain that comes and goes in my groin and upper thighs. In January they said it was a strained groin muscle affecting the ligament in my thigh. After losing complete control of my bladder two weeks ago, I went to Urgent Care, where they found the mass. Although I am overweight, my stomach is also protruding more and I feel full very quickly after eating very little.

Better get yours checked out soon!

Meow13, I see you have ILC. You need to have them check you out soon. My doctor stated that while he knows I don't have ILC, they do see these masses more frequently in those who have it.

My fraternal twin (she had a breast reduction and incidental finding of pre-cancerous lobular--LCIS) had a grapefruit sized mass in her pelvis. She said except for a split second of "feeling off" after she went to the bathroom, she never gave it a thought.

Her CA-125 was 1 pt. from being in the cancer range. They had an oncological gyn do the surgery, just incase because they were convinced with ca-125, size/age of patient, it would be cancer. They removed everything...ovaries, uterus, cervix....no cancer. NONE. Anywhere.

May it be so for you!
