Hi dhaoo,
I'm sorry you're having trouble healing. Can you tell us a little more? When was your lumpectomy? What have they had you try so far? Have you asked for a referral to a wound care specialist?
Best wishes,
LisaAlissa

I had good luck using manuka honey on a four month old wound. You can get it CVS pharmacies or online.

Hi dhanoo, I have several suggestions, although LisaAlissa is right, it would be helpful to have more info. Have you had any rads? Do you have any issues that would impede healing, like diabetes or do you smoke? Even if you do or don't have had prior issues that would interfere with healing there are a lot of things you can do to improve healing. The two prior posters are right in asking if you have a Wound Care Center nearby? Or have you looked into Manuka Honey. There is a more expensive version of it called Medihoney, which is specifically useful for wounds, and is sterile until you open it. You can buy it at Amazon.com.
Wounds need good circulation to heal well, I had problems because of rads damage, so I went to a Wound Care Center for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. There are all kinds of people there getting therapy for poorly healing wounds, so that is a potential help for you.
Do you have an infection interfering with healing??? Redness, warmth, or increased drainage? I assume you have been spaking wiyh your surgeon and they haven't been very helpful. Can you bug them more,? Squeeky wheel gets the grease as the old expression goes.
Surgery is well known to deplete Vitamin C. Sufficient Vitamin C is necessary for wound healing/collagen formation and wound strength. Vitamin C is also crucial for immunity. Most people do not get enough Vitamin C for one reason or another, so titrate your intake to bowel tolerance. Since Vitamin C is water soluble, you can not overdose on it, unless you have bowel or kidney issues. The amount of Vitamin C a person needs is dependent on their health/physiologic stressors, so if you have a cold you might need between 2 to 5 grams of Vitamin C per day, but if you are well, you might only need 1 gram per day. The bowel tolerance part of the equation is that when you have reached the maximum amount that your body needs of Vitamin C per day, you will get loose stools. The idea is that gradually over time as you get well, you will need less and less Vitamin C. Also Zinc is very helpful for wound healing, perhaps a good multivitamin as well as making sure to get plenty of vegetables and some fruits.
Also make sure you are getting an adequate source of high quality protein several times per day.
Good luck, let us know more about what is going in, you will get lots if helpful suggestions from all the great women on here.
Take care,

Dear Mac04,
Many thanks for your finding time for advising reg. problem of mine.
In my case, FNAC report was found to be positive and two slides were given to me for consulting an Oncologist.
The slides were reviewed by an ONCO Surgeon and he did not find it to be cancerous. However to satisfy himself , 3 Biopsies were done and all confirmed this to be a case of Chronic Inflammation.Thereafter an Ultra sound guided Biopsy was also done which too, confirmed this to be a case of Chronic Inflammation.
Finally the Doctor decided to remove the Lump and get Biopsy of the Lump in Sections while I was on OT Table --even that Biopsy confirmed this to be a Lump caused due to Chronic Inflammation.
Thereafter, the Doctor and his team decided to stitch the wound. It is almost 5 Months ago but unfortunately a white thick/tiny, discharge continues to emit. The Doctor is more than confident that it is not pus -but instead it is discharge due to chronic Inflammation.
All salute to the Onco SURGEON for his devotion. The Doctor's and his TEAM's SINCERITY and COMPETENCE are beyond doubt. In fact at times , he seems to be more disturbed than us and has been trying dressing with ( (a)Betadine Solution after cleaning the wound with a solution of Hydrogen Peroxiode+Betadine solution. Thereafter earlier he has been applying (b)Betadine cream;. Since the discharge continued, he tried (c) MEGA HEAL OINTMENT and since last 15 days he has been trying a new Ointment called PLACENTREX. This ointment showed some improvement ,initially ; but discharge has started again.
Finally the Doctor has advised re-opening of the wound -making it wider and deeper and get rid of the tissue causing chronic Inflammation. .
I am hoping that some one in this Group might give me some alternative.

You may want to ask your surgeon about negative-pressure wound therapy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative-pressure_wound_therapy
When I had necrotizing fasciitis they tried it on me. Unfortunately they couldn't get a good seal due to the location of the wound.
Can't hurt to ask. Best of luck to you.

Hi , SlowDeepBreaths,
Many thanks for giving your kind advice.
I had talked the surgeon about negative-pressure wound therapy, he was of the opinion that the 'Negative-pressure_wound_therapy is not going to work, since mine is a case of a Lump(Benign), and the white color discharge is coming from ducts due to repeated trauma, and I will have to paitent for the wound to heal.
Mean while, he has decided to widen the incision and remove the dead cells by going bit deeper, and therafter sealing it with glue/stitches.
I hope you are doing better and may 'GOD' bless you.
