Anti-inflammatory Diet

Options

My friend's sister does research for MIT in cancer and what to eat. She recommends an anti-inflammatory diet, with probiotics (Stony Farms organic yogurt) and antioxidants. Spinach, blueberries, strawberries, lots of Omega 3's - Flax seed, Chia seeds, Hemp, Salmon.

Anyone else heard about this?

Yes, anti-inflammatory foods are "real" and it works. I tested it when I experienced bad inflammation from one of the chemos I did. Probiotics may well help against any number of ills, and there is some sporadic evidence suggesting that it may also play a role in preventing cancers. Also, getting enough probiotics and eating anti-inflammatory foods can't really harm you, as far as I can tell, so you have little to lose with it.

I follow an anti-inflammatory diet also, but I do not eat dairy at all, I use a supplemental probiotic. I also do not eat flax, but do eat chia added to a shake made with vegan protein powder, berries and coconut or almond milk. I have also eliminated soy, gluten, corn, peanuts, sugar, and initially eggs, but they is the only food I have added back - sparingly. I found eating this way helped with joint pain from Femara/Arimidex, made my GI system more efficient and less problematic, and was the only way I could lose weight gained from chemo (steroids) and the AI drugs - despite previous sensible eating which included some of those foods, and a lot of exercise.
