I've had one needle biopsy on right breast and two on left. All came back negative but then on right breast I had yellow drainage and pain in underarm. They dx mastitis. TooK atb and it got better with a little nipple soreness and permanent nipple erection. Then I got two vacuum biopsies on left breast because dr felt he didn't get good enough sample. I came back with dcis in one spot 4cm. Getting ready for lumpectomy . Question is : should I be worried about right breast due to mastitis and the fact I only got one biopsy (it took four to find the one on the right ?

It's rare to have DCIS on both sides, but it does happen. How were you diagnosed? Mammogram or did you have the pain on the right side first and then suspicious imaging? I hope you are recovering from all the pokes.

My microscopic DCIS started small like yours. I chose a bilateral masectomy because of family history. I am so glad tbat I made that decision. After the mastectomy, pathology found more microscopic cancer that was too small to even show on any kind of imaging. I just had my DIEP reconstruction in December 2016. I am so happy with my decision to have a mastectomy and not a lumpectomy.
