Options

Has anyone done Chemo Therapy, and IV vitamin supplementation such as a Myers cocktail, Executive Nutritional IV's as well as IV Amino Acids and IV Lipids. Were these treatments effective in Diminishing the side effects of the Chemo?

Yes, I got IV Vitamin C during CMF chemo. They would say I was anemic and neutropenic, then I got IV Vitamin C and then it would improve my RBC levels and WBC levels as well. My onco at the time was an unsupportive jerk, so I didn't tell her about getting the IV C. The nurses were very surprised each week at the improvement in my Blood levels. I wouldn't say anything to them. Didn't trust them.

Thank you so much, I am looking to complement the Chemo with alternative medicine, to combat the effects upon my body. But I do not want to do anything that may diminish the chemo treatment itself.

Makes sense. I had read that IV Vitamin C is useful during chemo because it is a prooxident when given at high doses IV, releasing Hydrogen Peroxide into tissues, killing cancer cells, whereas normal cell are able to tolerate hydrogen peroxide exposure. It is currently being used in NCI trials with chemo at the University of Kansas and University of Pittsburgh.
