Hello. - I am interested in knowing if anyone has had an area of enhancement, on a breast MRI, near a prior biopsy site or lumpectomy site and what the outcome was. I had a lumpectomy in 2007 followed by radiation and another breast biopsy in October 2014 which had B9 results. I had an MRI yesterday and results were that there was an area of enhancement near the biopsy site. I am scheduled for an ultrasound and, if needed, a biopsy the same day. I haven't seen the written report yet but prior MRI reports all say enhancement near surgical site but I never was told to have a biopsy before so this one must be different. My oncologist is on vacation until Monday so can't see report until she returns. What conditions other than cancer can cause an MRI to show enhancement?

    Hi,

Wondering what you found out? I have a similair situation and am trying not to panic. My MRI showed an area of enhancement 1-2cm away from a prior

biopsy site. I am scheduled for a biopsy tomorrow. Would also appreciate any info.

    Thank you

Many things can enhance on an MRI. Having a biopsy is a good idea to find out why it's enhancing. With your biopsy tomorrow, you should know in days to about a week what is causing the enhancement...

The waiting is hard. Keep busy and distracted.

    Hang in there!

dig - it's unlikely you'll get an answer since these posts are from 2015 and 2016. However, someone new may come along and post

I would be good if you could go to 'my profile' and add your diagnosis and treatment. That way members will be able to give more thoughtful answers.
