    I'll keep that in mind while trying different coffees.

    Son likes the starbucks vanilla frappuccino chilled coffee drink.

    I've often think of the Hummingbird as my personal totem. If we get a choice, I'm definitely coming back as a hummer! I start chemo on Tues and even though the port site was sore, I had to get the garden ready so I have somewhere beautiful to heal in. Planted lots of border flowers in pots around the patio But I forgot the feeders for the hummers! So I need to rush out today and set one up. We feed birds, squirrels and pretty much anybody else passing through.

    OMG! A hummer is building a nest at eye level outside my bedroom window! I've been watching her packing grass with her toes and needle felting with her beak for days. I love spring! She's very brown so it's hard to identify her. No green or red on her

    Hi ~ I thought I would share this photo a neighbor sent me yesterday. The nest is in a tangelo tree in her yard. In the meantime, I came to his thread b'cuz I have a question. Does anyone know why there seem to be fewer hummingbirds this year -- at least here in the desert (near Palm Desert). We have more feeders and have a ton of flowers, but we're seeing far fewer hummingbirds than we do most years, and I thought someone here might know what's going on.

    Hi there. I have no clue. We just today returned from Palm Desert. I saw many there but couldn't take any photos this time. But I have noticed fewer in our San Diego yard as well.

    Today was a VERY scary day! Momma Hummeingbird built her nest in between some bamboo fronds. She laid 2 eggs this week and all was well until the winds whipped in at 32 mph! She held on for hours I prayed for her safety and hoped she could hold on and she did! After 9 hours of grasping the sides of her nest with her little claws, I'm ecstatic to report she made it through and protected her eggs .

    I'm going for chemo round 3 tomorrow and I realize if she can survive that, then I can easily survive this

    I am a first timer/latecomer to this thread.

    Myra- what a wonderful thought about survival. And sending you healing thoughts for tomorrow's installment. Thank you for sharing that triumphant story about hanging on. Sometimes that's all we can do!

    Lisa- fabulous pics. And dlb a great nest shot too! So tiny

    I'm in Oregon, in a coastal moderate climate, and sometimes they overwinter here. I did not see them this winter though. Last week I cleaned and filled my feeders and got my first customer within an hour! So happy to see them. Last year, while recovering with difficulty from surgery, it was the possibility of seeing a hummingbird that would sometimes be my only reason for clawing my way out of bed. I just adore them. More now than ever. So glad I found you fellow hummer lovers!

    I had tons of hummingbirds last year-more than usual-here in TN. Too soon to put out their feeders for this year, but am looking forward to seeing them again soon. Wonderful pix as always, Lisa.

    I'm so sad. Mother Hummer has been sitting on her eggs over 3 weeks with no hatch in sight. Do you think she'll just continue to sit on them even if they're no longer viable? Or do some eggs just take a really long time

    Gosh, our hummers never leave! They're here year-round, living in the trees and shrubs surrounding the gardens.

    Gorgeous pics, everyone! I'd post some, but Windows 10 seems to have decided to no longer download pics from my SD card. Devil

    Myraknits - Google says anywhere from 18-23 days for eggs to hatch, depending on the weather.... hope you see some activity soon.....

    I had to laugh - DH and I went to the Home Show at the Fairgrounds (lots of vendors selling stuff) and a guy there was selling a multiple-hummer feeder - a flat covered dish with something like 36 total ports. Our hummers won't even share a four-port feeder! (Well, the girls will share, but not the boys...) They just fly over to the next feeder if someone invades their space.

    Here is a cool idea for some functional "yard art" that I found on Pinterest - maybe I'll try this with an old chandelier from the thrift shop.

    SORRY - THREAD HIJACK!

    Lisa - great idea! But their website says that Picasa is available for Windows XP, Vista, and 7. A newer version "seems" to be available for Windows 10, but numerous complaints on other forums would indicate that Picasa just does not work on Windows 10.

    And when I just insert the SD card into my computer, it is recognized, but the message I get is that there are no images on my card, when there darn well are. Again, this is a very common complaint from those who are struggling with Windows 10. Not one single solution offered by Microsoft works. I've downloaded the updated drivers twice (MS technician actually did it the first time) and still no luck.

    There appears to be a solution: I'd have to purchase a multi-card reader adapter specifically made for Windows 10, and transfer images by putting the SD card into the reader, then attaching the reader to the computer by USB cable, and uploading images.

    I swear - I am THISCLOSE to getting a Mac. Then I can take this hideous Windows 10 and use it for target practice! Devil

    But I digress!!! Lovely blues and greens on the above pic!

    p.s. Do you have any suggestions for me? I really am at my wits end.

    I have a card reader that just goes into the usb. port easy as pie. Have you tried a different SD card.

    Lisa - no other SD cards work. I will probably end up getting a card reader; that sounds like the easiest option. Thanks!
