    hey all,

I am 4 weeks out from my bilateral mastectomy tomorrow... They used skin glue this time (vs steri strips used after my lumpectomy and bilat reductions that were done in 11/2015- YUCK!)

So I went in for my first fill for my tissue expanders last week and asked the doc about the yucky glue that is still hanging around with black mixed in old blood on my incisions under my breasts ... It's gross. Well he is like "ok it's allgood, just start peeling it off!" And proceeds to start picking at me... I was like " Yo back off.... Gimme some time here on this "

Does anyone have any tips on the best way to get it off? After near to 4 weeks post op it all seems healed well but is there a good way to remove it?? That won't freak me out??

Yes! That stuff hangs around like an unwelcome relative. I softened mine with organic almond oil and it just rubbed off by itself - I put it on before bed and the next day it started peeling, it only took a couple of days to be completely gone.

so given that coconut oil is all the rage for so many reasons ... Do you think that would work!

alcohol wipes is what worked for me.

Cathy_pa - I didn't have the patience for alcohol wipes. I used these: Uni-Solve Adhesive Remover (Yes, there's a wipe for that!)

I guess some Drs must be 'sloppier' than others. Or have better internal sutureing techniques. The only slight discoloration in my surgical glue from my UMX was from the betadine scrub use on skin. The line of glue was very neat and narrow and came off on it's own quite quickly - do 't remember exactly how long it took as wasn't an issue time wise.

When my port had been put in, he had also used surgical glue for the exterior but did put 2 sterili-strips across it as he thought I might not be as careful as he wanted me to be (he knew I have horses to care for and ride) so the steri-strips were just a little 'insurance'.
