If you are sick, slow down, even if it means you have to miss a race! You don't want to end up like me (who didn't follow my own advice) with pneumonia!!!!!
-
I am finally feeling better 😄. Whatever I had kicked my rear! I had a MO visit in Houston on Monday and everything looks good. What a relief!
Today I walked 4 miles at the walking trail. It felt good to get out and get my body moving.
Ruth- Happy Belated Birthday🎂🎂🎂! I love the St Patty's Day Pic of you ladies. It looks like a fun bunch. I am glad to hear you are feeling better. We are on break now, so I have been resting up from my two week bout w/ gook.
Patoo-You deserve a cruise after moving. My DH and I moved quite a bit, as he was in the military. It is exhausting work. Luckily it is all worth it, once you enjoy your new home.
Meljo- You are dedicated! I had that respiratory thing too and skipped out on some workouts. The coughing was just such a challenge.
Natsfan- Hope you get your rhythm.
-
I think the only way I'm NOT going to snack is to tape my mouth shut!!!!
-
Karen send the tape to me when you're done with it
Did Body Combat tonight with a girl who was a class participant and became an instructor, her very first class I love seeing these kind of transitions where people find their passion
-
Quarter mile swim yesterday.
Happy St Patrick's Day to everyone, because everyone is Irish on St Patrick's Day! ☘☘☘
-
Did a walk to Dunkin Donuts to get a smoothie this morning. Worked out last night.
-
Took a nap yesterday afternoon & revived myself for yoga and zumba last night. I will go to Cardio Sculpt this morning.
I do have a wee drop of Irish blood thanks to an Irish great-great grandmother on my mother's side, so I will be wearing green, for sure!
-
Went back to the pool and got 11 laps in. Its definitely getting easier. I just find I cannot do any forceful strokes and have to stop after two laps for a few minutes.
Thankful its getting easier.
-
Very busy at work and we have the wind Meljo mentioned. I started to walk yesterday but was almost afraid I'd blow away.Today it is still windy but not frightening. I managed to get a 30 minute walk this evening.
Karen your daughter and I have the same birthday!
Happy St Patrick's Day! I wore pale green since I'm only a tiny bit Irish
-
hi all and congrats all around. We all get an A. :-)
Made 'green bread' for a St. Pat's Day treat. Real easy recipe involving white cake mix and pistachio pudding. Good to bring to work as it makes people happy and if I share I only eat one small slice. Totally swamped but taking regular 10-min walking breaks to get away from my desk. No outside walks yet this week due to thunderstorms Tues and high winds Weds & today. There was a semi on its side on the way home from work yesterday, it got blown over in a strong sudden gust. Scary driving next to big trucks!
-
Two, happy early b'day to you....hope I don't forget to wish you again on Saturday. I'm so excited for my daughter turning 18. I don't remember if I mentioned, but she wants to go sky diving for her b'day...the only thing she has asked for. Her brother will take her, but not sure if he will do it as well. Its $200/pp. Needless to say, she's getting a very BIG present...but she will chip in with money from her 2 grandma's and her brother. Her sister got her a gift card to Forever 21.
Someone told me today that I would very sad next year when she was gone!!! I looked at them and said NO, I won't be sad at all. I said I will miss her terribly, but I will be so happy for her!!! Never dawned on me to be anything but excited for her. but this week, I realized just how much I will miss her...thank goodness for phones and skype!!
Its snowing this evening...not sure if we'll get much, but spring will be back on sunday!!!
-
hbcheryl....I'll save the tape for you!!
I'm trying to drink more water at night....one draw back is last night I woke up 3 or 4 times to pee!! And that was only between 11:30pm and 6am!! I've already had 2 glasses of water since dinner....maybe I'll cut down on the snacking and the wine with more water, but then again, I might just float away!! I'd really like to shed the 7# I put on since September!!
Nothing on the calendar tomorrow.....just time for me to clean the house, cook, run errands and visit my mother!!! So thrilled to not have any appointments.....Making DD all her favorites for Shabbat dinner. Sunday I will bring Mom over for dinner. I told DD and DH that I was going to make pasta and DH said Mom won't be happy!!! I usually grill chicken or steak or some assorted grill....Mom loves that, but I really don't want chicken again and don't have any steaks. Maybe I can make hamburgers and hot dogs as Mom also likes those. DD said she doesn't care.
-
Hi friends- sorry I have been absent, super busy with work, company visiting this month and more.
I love the evening light that has returned with the change of time this week and been trying to walk more in the evenings. Did a nice 25 min walk last night.
Ruth- I am sorry to hear of the pneumonia. I know you have not been feeling well for awhile. Hope you are on the mend soon.
-
What day is DD going skydiving, Karen? Exciting and scary....I am afraid they would have to pry my hands off the door & give an enormous shove to push me out of the plane (but then, I am NOT 18!). Good for her!
I am going to yoga this morning & subbing this afternoon for the first time in forever. I am kind of excited because I miss seeing my school people if I'm gone too long. I believe I should be able to survive 3 hours of teaching prepositions to 6th graders.
-
Karen- Skydiving sounds fun, can't wait to hear how she liked it.
Jazzy-I like the time change too, as it gives me more time to be outside exercising. The weather here has been perfect
Ruth-Glad to hear you are subbing, as you must be feeling better. My DD is in 6th grade, it is a fun age. Have fun with the 6th graders.
Today so far I have 6650 steps from walking outside. My DD slept till nearly noon, so I am glad I got out. My mom says that my DD will make a great teenager, lol. We are on break all week, so it will be hard to get back into the swing of our routine next week
-
I got lots of steps running up & down the steps of the school to the 6th grade wing on the 3rd floor. 6th graders are awesome, and so are 7th graders......8th graders are a little more dicey!
-
No real walk today, so I'm way behind on my steps. Will walk before dinner and meet DD and DH on the way home from synagogue then walk after dinner. Hopefully I'll get to 10K...Okay, I need to revise this....Just checked my Fitbit and I'm at 9599...so maybe I'll get to 15K, but if not 13K.
Ruth...my son is going to take my daughter and he if off on Wednesday and Thursday so we need to wait till her Passover break in late April. I think it will be around the 27th or 28th. I told son I would pay for 1/2 his sky dive if he does it too. It would be his second time. He will share in the cost of his little sister for her b'day present...I told him to contribute whatever he felt he could afford. Miriam is so excited to go. My older daughter Leah and her husband will be here. I wonder if she will go watch. I wish I could go watch (I"d never sky dive!!!) but I work Monday - Thursday and not sure I should take the day off.
Tomorrow my "baby" turns 18. Not sure if this is more amazing or that my oldest daughter turns 30 in 6 weeks!!! I'm so excited for Miriam turning 18. Two of her best friends have been counting down all week and posting pictures on fb.
Tonight I made all of Miriam's favorites for Shabbat dinner. Sunday I'm bringing my mother for dinner. She hasn't been in a couple months, but it is getting harder and harder to bring her here.
Have a good week-end. Be back tomorrow night.
-
Karen: You are such a good Mom!
Hi All. I haven't done much this week bc I had a stomach thing going on. Better now (I hope!). Walked/ran this evening. Nice, dry 68 degrees. All that changes tomorrow.
This morning I helped set up for dd's friend's wedding which is tomorrow. It will be a very busy day tomorrow helping with the last final details!
-
3/18- 50 minutes of resistance training at the gym.
Karen- enjoy those milestone birthdays with the girls!
Wonder- I hope the stomach bug is gone from your system and you are back to your old self!
-
hi all, I killed another pedometer so need to replace. Happier with the $20 one from the sporting goods store than the $5 one from BigBoxMart. Would get a bracelet-type tracker but don't like things on my wrists.
Going to "nest" this weekend. Been so busy haven't unpacked any boxes in a while. Want to get some of the glassware put away but need to wash first as was packed in newspaper. Will be glad to locate my Pyrex measuring cups.
Have a great weekend everyone!
-
Did one of Badger's Zumba DVDs......Zumba Cardio Dance. Fun and a good 50 minute workout.
-
Busy day, but with fun things and catching up. My friends did not come for dinner as their son is down with flu and fever. Corned beef will be just as good in 2 weeks time.
The FREE shredding truck was a short distance away today, so I went through everything and dragged over a big haul. So nice to get all that in hand. I had done some prelim getting the tax stuff together, so this was mostly a case of sorting through the remaining piles and keeping only the essentials. Less and less that you need to keep when you can get the same things online.
I went to the curtains place and got a rod for my new wall hanging. Not totally happy with the result, and think I will need brackets. But nice to have it up. Moved my other tapestry (copy of a late medieval one) to over my desk where I can actually see it. Now THERE is a step in the right direction!!
In between, I logged 27 miles on my bicycle. It was comforting to see those who obviously haven't done all that much over the past several months. They were ratted out by their spandex!
Got a note from where I am staying next weekend. The snow is holding so the skiing should be just fine. I am so psyched!
And yes, the wine bar party last night was beyond fun. Wonderful to see everyone and wonderful to catch up. Good times ahead.
Right now, waiting for my trout dinner to finish cooking. - Claire

Yesterday ending up being a good walking day after all...broke 15K steps and today just over 16K!! Need to keep it up....actually need my morning walk into my morning run...need to burn more calories....clothes are starting to get tight.
DD bought her 1st lotto ticket tonight....paid $1 and won $4!! She went out of pizza with some gf's and now they are at a movie...11:15!! I generally stay up till she gets home, but now sure I can do 1:30!!! will just sleep on the sofa if I can't stay up. A couple weeks ago she was out and I went to bed before she got home and she commented on it!!! It was the first time!! She's had a good b'day. I've enjoyed reading all the fb posts from some of her best friends.
We got a little snow this morning. Walking to synagogue with my daughter I found the only spot of ice after I went flying in the air...fortunately I had my big long down coat own so a little padding on top of my padding!!! Luckily I wasn't hurt. Every time I fall, I'm thankful I don't break anything as I am osteoporosis!!
Winter today, spring tomorrow and in the 70's on Monday...gotta love the Denver weather.
-
Unpacked eight boxes yesterday but still didn't find my Pyrex measuring cups. Wine glasses, cordial glasses, Pilsner glasses, yes but not what I really want to find. Some items were packed in newspaper from the year 2000 so I haven't seen them for quite some time. Oh well, plenty more boxes to try.
Real pretty morning so headed out for a walk as soon as I finish my second cup of coffee.
-
Just did Rock Solid Abs.......which I needed very badly as I ate Mexican last night.......
-
Karen-Here is the difference between 18 and 18X3. I will not be sky diving, but instead enjoying a spa package. But a very happy birthday to your daughter.
I walked 45 minutes yesterday. More winter than spring this weekend but the frogs were singing loudly.
-
I haven't posted here in ages only because my exercise routine is so boring and predictable--40 minutes of moderate paced walking up and down hills 4-5 days per week. However, recently started doing more dumbbell exercises again. I took a break after my exchange surgery, and it's been hard to motivate myself to go back. It's good to see you all doing the hard work.
-
Good to see you Katcar. And no one is more boring than me ... 30 minute walk today!
-
Hi Katcar. Good to see you!
-
3/20- 50 minutes of resistance training and core work, plus a whole lot of yard work today!
