Gotta ask....tamoxifen and yeast infections?

Options

I was feeling so great about taking tamoxifen!  I truly haven't had a lot of SEs other than night sweats, which I can totally deal with, in the 2 months I've been taking it.  I still refuse to complain too loudly because I feel like it is my friend in this battle and it is keeping cancer from ever coming back again.  That being said, I have had a horrible yeast infection for about the last week or so.  Has anyone else battled this and what did you do to alleviate the symptoms?  Has anyone tried those over the counter remedies and do they work?  I truly think it is a SE of the tamoxifen because I've never had them like this before.  I'm considering taking a daily acidophilus tablet if I can find one as I'm not really a yogurt fan.  I just wondered if anyone else was dealing with this.

interesting but not always a  good idea to blame all stuff on the med.  That said, have you considered taken an over the counter probiotic?  I do as I was on so many antibiotics from sinus infections that I started getting UTIs all the time till my PCD suggested the stuff.

but that said, talk to your docs and I would discuss it with the PCD as well as onco

I have seen my OB/GYN regarding similar issue. I never had issues previously but she told me not uncommon due to age-44-with hormone changes and addition of Tamoxifen increasing discharge creates environment/pH that increases risk. I do have to say first three months were annoying but body seems to have adjusted with time and far fewer issues. I found switching to only using summer eve feminine wash and avoiding regular soap helped with sensitivity. If ongoing, do see you Dr as prescription may be needed not just OTC.

I've been on Tamox for about a month now and just got over the worst yeast infection I've had in 6 years! I'm take a vaginal support probiotic and I was told that vaginal dryness can create problems. I might buy some lube for the labia area. That seems to be the most irritated. I'm also only 44 and pre-menopausal.
