Color Genomics | Genetic Test | 30 genes | $249

My results just arrived as negative. I was expecting something as I have an single MTHFR mutation. Yes - I agree knowledge is power.
-
if the mutation is a VUS, they are still listed as negative, but it mentions a VUS and you can request more info on it. I had to look closely to find it. I would have likely missed it if I was not looking for it
-
KBeee where is the mention of the VUS? Did you get downloadable results or just the screen? They were still working on the notification process when I recd my results.
-
Thanks for that warning - I went back and looked but did not find any section reporting a variant.
-
Just logged back in to CG. the whole report section is new in the past few months.
-
According to their website, MTHFR is not one of the 19 genes included in the Color Genomics test panel, so the test will not detect any kind of mutation in that gene (VUS or otherwise), because it is not assessed. According to the website, as of this date, the 19 genes tested are those listed above in John's original post.
That people are not seeing pathogenic mutations is good news, and not entirely surprising. On the other hand, multiple people with not even one VUS in 19 genes does surprise me a little, but I am not sure what the expected incidence would be for the complete panel.

Yes - I do understand that MTHFR was not tested in this panel. My previous comment was probably confusing. I meant that I knew about this mutation plus my family cancer hx - so I was expecting to hear about another mutation or variant reported for me.
-
Good news that there are no additional ones!
I was glad that I had only the one VUS I knew about. I am ordering it for DH who also has huge cancer history in his family, including himself
-
oops, I thought MTHFR meant MotherF-ER. My bad.
-
Marjen- you made me seriously laugh out loud. made my day!
-
Thank you! At least I've done one thing right today
-
Marijen LOL! That is exactly how I remember the mutation!
-
That's what I always call it, hahaha. Funny where our brains go--straight to the gutter. My aunt has two mutations, so I am concerned about that. Guess I need to check it out.
-
Did my Color Genomics test & negative with one VUS of the ATM gene c.9031A>G (p.Met3011Val). Glad I did it - you never know if one day they'll get more info on that gene and it may provide some insight.
-
I had VUS of palb2 through myriad
-
Those of you with VUS can look into the PROMPT registry which is collecting info on the various VUS to better determine which are problematic. I do not have a link on my phone, but you can search it
-
Hi all, popping by. I studied the MTHFR gene so long ago. I thought at the time I should be tested. Now forget why. BUT my thought today is I can never see that abbreviation without thinking MTHF***R gene and a memory that it describes the gene pretty well. Thanks for the laugh and that I'm not the only one that thought it. Hahahaha
-
me too. makes me laugh every time!!

Some news updates.
1. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the company has knocked off $25 from the normal $249 price for October. Cost is $224 during October.
Here's the link, https://getcolor.com/bcam
2. For the same price they have expanded testing from 19 genes to 30 genes, to cover other cancers.
The additional 11 genes are associated with colorectal, melanoma, pancreatic, prostate, stomach, and uterine cancer. Those 11 new genes are:
APC, BAP1, BMPR1A, CDKN2A (p16INK4a and p14ARF), CDK4, GREM1, MITF, MUTYH, POLD1, POLE, and SMAD4.3. They ship to all 50 states except New York.
Essentially, during October, you'll pay $224 for testing of 30 genes. -
Thanks, John, for the update! I wonder if it would be worth it to buy the kit again to have those additional genes checked? I had no mutations with the 19 gene panel.Hmmmmm.
-
Color Gen does a 30 gene panel now for $249, and if you've already done the first one of 19 @ $249, they reduced the rate to $149.That doesn't seem right to me because $249 plus $149 is $398. So some one doing it for the first time gets a better rate of $249 vs. $398. I questioned them about this and they said they couldn't adjust the rate down any further? for second timers.
-
Marijen, awesome news! I think I'll do it. Thank you
-
Well, it's still better than paying $249 all over again. :-)
-
Maybe when I get over my BC PTSD I'll have a better attitude : ))
-
can I ask has anyone been able to order this panel foe their husband.
-
It is for both men & wome
-
my husband had melanoma, so we ordered it for hi
-
Just got a Facebook ad post that said Color Genomics test is now $99 until Mother's Day.
Main site still says $249. Might be worth checking tomorrow.
-
