Hello,

During my first weeks of radiation treatment one of my techs pulled my left arm back fairly hard, causing shoulder pain. Anyone else experience this? This was two months ago still in pain.

Thank you

HI Lj! So sorry you're having this pain -- have you talked to your gp or any of your doctors about it?

Yikes! That tech must have yanked on you pretty hard!
No, I never had that happen. As a matter of fact, my arms were never even touched. They would tell me to put my arm behind my head, but that was it. They never touched my arms.

You say it's still bothering you after two months, so you may want to go to the doctor and have it checked.

2 months after pain developed is a long time to wait to find out what is going on. See your Dr to find out about it and the appropriate TX plan to resolve it which may not take more time than if addressed at the time of injury - pain= injury. The problem and pain should have been reported at the time.

Thank you for the responses. I left my doctor know right away. She finally ordered an ex ray last Monday was normal.

X-ray show bones, not' damage to soft tissue (tendons/ligaments/muscles/etc.) 'Something' (pain) going on for 2+ months probably would not show on X-rays. An appt with an Orthopedist or at least a PT or OT might be in order.

lj, It is fairly common for breast cancer patients to get a frozen shoulder...I fell during treatment, it was snowy and I am clumsy. I finally had to go to physical therapy, my plastic surgeon made a referal for me...and it fixed me right up. You may need PT, a combination of everything you have been through, plus the yank on the arm was the final straw. My xray was normal too, as Kicks said above, it would be with a soft tissue injury. Please keep up updated and I hope thing improve soon.

I developed rotator cuff impingement from radiation. It's gradually improved with PT. I hope the same for you.
