BRCA if you're triple negative did you test positive on BRCA
I'm wondering if any of you who are triple negative were tested for Brca Genes. And if so was it positive or negative? My onco said he's trying to find out what's fueling this cancer because it's strong but small and slow growing... I have (had)idc grade 2 1.4 cm

I had TN and tested negative. I do have a small family history - but only with a cousin and none in family tree (as far as we can tell)

I am what my oncologist said essentially TN because my Progesterone is 20%.
I did test negative for BRCA 1 &2. I have family history on both sides of my family.
I have a referral out for further genetic testing a complete breast ca panel hopefully my insurance approves it.

I am (or WAS) triple negative. I tested negative for 14 genes in a panel (including both BRCA genes), all were negative. Having said that, my grandma died at 50 of ovarian cancer and I have two distant aunts on the same side with breast cancer, one of which has been confirmed triple negative. With this history the genetics department feel that it is very likely there is a genetic component... they likely just haven't discovered it yet.

I'm TN and I tested negative for BRCA1, BRCA2, PALB, PTEN etc. (So negative for the rest of the gene panel as well.)

hi,
I was tested for BRAC 1/2. There was something highlighted on BRAC 1 test but not the actual known BRAC 1 known issue. I have what is beleived to be a low risk for being a cancer risk increasing mutation. ( how it was explained to me).
There were 5 family members, from grand mother, to aunts to cousins who have had BC though. All at relitively young age. One is known to have been TN two def not, the other's status unknow.
Hope you have a good Easter.

I am TN and BRCA -. No family history. Kelly

I'm triple negative and BRCA1 (del exons 9-12).
Diagnosed 12/4/15. 4 rounds of AC, 4 rounds of Taxol (last one will be April 5th), then bilateral masectomy, ovaries/Fallopian tubes removed, followed by radiation.
Opinions vary on full vs. partial hysterectomy.
*edited to add*
Carboplatin - which according to my cancer clinic, studies show this chemo is especially effective for TN/BRCA - following BSO and double masectomy followed by radiation; Xeloda approval pending
