Recurrence?

Options

Not sure where to post this but I had a mastectomy (no recon), chemo and rads. My last rads was almost two years ago. I just found a tiny lump, more like a pimple, on my chest about 6 inches above my mastectomy scar. Needless to say, I'm a little worried. I have a regular check up with my oncologist next week so of course, I'll show it to him. Does this sound like a recurrence? Anybody with this experience?

It could just be a pimple, but it could be something worse. It is definitely worth getting checked. You can also call to be seen sooner. You might consider taking a picture of what it looks like (and maybe hold something near it for size comparison) so you can track if it changes.

Thanks KBeee. That's a good idea to take a picture. I'm pretty sure it's not a pimple. I'll call tomorrow to see if the doc can get me in sooner

Could it be a suture? or a very small keloid? Let us know how it goes.

    Sending good thoughts.

It's not a suture. It's about 3 inches above my mastectomy scar and I didn't have sutures. There's no scar tissue there so not a keloid either. I called the MO's office today and they connected to a not helpful nurse, who had no real advice to give. The soonest I could move the appointment up was for Monday.

Ugh, so sorry - the Long Weekend Wait. Hopefully on Monday you're able to get some forward movement on testing or biopsy or whatever you need. Good thoughts for a quick but enjoyable (and maybe relaxing) weekend.

Please keep us posted. You always could go in to a dermatologist or someone like that to get an opinion sooner. If nothing else, you can share that opinion with your MO. And when your MO realizes that you'll seek other opinions elsewhere when he/she does not fit you in for a concern, they'll likely make room for you next time. Other opinions are never a bad idea.

Certainly, a safe place to vent. I had a lump about an inch or so under my mastectomy scar, but it did not look like a pimple. Mine ended up being a fat glob. I have had red, small "pimple" looking things and I watch and wait. I have cats; their toenails can go anywhere. I hope it clears up so you can rest easily. I'm sorry you have to wait till Monday. Waiting is torture.

It's SO hard, the waiting. Sending positive thoughts to you!

I shared this in another thread, will post here too, but if you are really feeling out of sorts, scared, panic attack you can also call the American Cancer society. They provide emotional support and can also help you find affordable/free oncology trained counselors.

I got an appointment for Friday with another oncologist so I don't have to wait for so long

oh AKJ. I'm sorry you have to wait. I'll keept fingers crossed for you too. I'm expecting to maybe get a biopsy today. I like to be prepared for the worst. Bring blindsided is the first for me. Meanwhile, I'm packing up our San Francisco apartment of ten years. Sad on its own. There is always a wrench in the works, huh? Hugs to you for something just annoying and benign.

Gatomal, why are you getting a biopsy?

Gatomal, never mind my question. I read your other post. I'm glad the ultrasound was normal. That happened to me awhile ago. They also saw the lymphedema on the utlrasound.

Just got an appointment with a surgeon to take the lump out and biopsy it. Not until next Friday though.

Surgeon said my tiny lump didn't seem too worrisome but took it out and sent it to pathology. Results Monday or Tuesday
