Wishing everyone a good week-end. Ruth how did I miss your birthday? Hope you are feeling better. Be back tomorrow night after Shabbat is over. Karen

Great pics meljo. I hope to run again though I never did much but at least tried and have a few 5K's under my belt but even those were run/walk but I would be happy to get back to at least that. We'll see as my PCP would not be very happy given my bone density loss and another 3 years remaining on anastrozole. But he is thrilled with my bone building exercises and running (okay, a little jog) is weight bearing!
ruthbru, funny dream. Surprised HIlary didn't go down and get you, after all, a vote is a vote. lol
Night sculpted friends.

hi all and Happy Belated Birthday, Ruth! Glad you got some sleep.
Finishing my 2nd cup of coffee then out to dispatch the inch of snow we got overnight, before people walk on the pavement and leave icy little footprints. BBL
-
badger, nice that you only got an inch and I'm sure any walkers will appreciate your clearing before they come by.
Going to a Native American PowWow today so exercise may only be walking unless we get back early enough to ride my bike.
-
Glad I got out, under the snow was a slippery layer of frozen slush that needed a bit of sidewalk salt for safety. For you dog-walkers, I do use the stuff that's pet-friendly. 30 mins Shovel & Sculpt.
-
Lovely picture of St. Martin, Mysunshine. We were there last year end of February and I remember seeing a couple of huge yachts there. I don't know whose they were, but someone very, very rich.
Have fun at the PowWow, Pattoo. I love to go see the dances!
Hello, meljo. Welcome back. It looks like you are keeping up the exercise.
Oh dear, Ruth. I'm sorry you are so sick and hope you feel better soon.
I went for a 39 minute walk today. It is not a nice day - a damp, sinus headache inducing chill, but I needed to get some stress out. I went to get my oil changed this morning and as I'm leaving, one of the workers backed someone's car into mine! UGH! Sometimes I have the worst luck.
-
Exercise today was hiking around the zoo. I'm really unhappy with my new Fitbit Blaze. It does not accurately track steps and distance. I'm seriously considering returning it and getting the Surge instead, since they finally dropped the price on it.

Gorgeous day in Denver today. Just short of making it to 15K today.....Supposed to be even warmer tomorrow....Will have to get out early and walk. I need to go to Costco and going when they open at 10 is the best time to go. I have a paper to write for a class as well as write up my mid year evaluation which was a few weeks ago so long over due. So need to use my time wisely. Just me, so how many excuses can I have!!!
-
I got out in the patch of sunshine today and did a 26 mile ride. So much easier with dry pavement, not to mention that more fun than in pelting rain (which has returned, alas). Have a fun evening of cabaret/dinner theatre planned for tomorrow evening. I am taking credit for exercising in what has proven to be the wettest winter on record!!!!!
Otherwise work, and hopefully another ride tomorrow. Great news is that I am fitter after the Chilly Hilly last Sunday. So a major benefit in pushing myself beyond what is normally comfortable.
Think that the moral of this tale is that fitness does return, so push forward. Three events or so this summer that will test all this, including the Seattle-to-Portland where I am hoping for 10 of 10. We shall see. - Claire

Happy belated birthday Ruth! I hope you are feeling better! 5K on the rowing machine yesterday and today. I wanted to do more but I am fighting a cold with a nasty cough and also healing a broken toe. It's supposed to be in the 60's here this week. Mother Nature can't make up her mind! Snow on Friday, 65 tomorrow. No wonder we all have colds!
Have a great week everyone, and keep up the hard work!

Sunny today and the third weekend of windy conditions but the sun made for a pleasant walk around the lake (38 minutes). The lake has totally thawed this week. Last week it was still about half ice, and I saw a bluebird today. Sure signs of spring!

These are some of the water taxi boats that we took to pick up regatta participants from their boats and bring them in.....and take them back later. Ask me again why I volunteered to do this????
Home tomorrow night after a week of unusual exercise. Ready to get back to Zumba!!! And my kitty.
-
What beautiful pictures!
Still done for the count. Just going down the steps to the basement brings on a vigorous coughing spell. Cheryl, how long did it take you to feel good enough to actually do anything? DH, who has had pneumonia, said it took him two weeks. Which would mean that I have another week to go. Sigh! However long it takes, it will be the biggest amount of time I've gone without exercising in many, many years.
-
Gorgeous walk this morning, but it has since clouded up...won't complain as is not as HOT as if the sun was out. just hit 10K so definitely need to get another walk in tonight. Still haven't started on my paper. But I did get to Costco, to see my mom and some retail therapy at SteinMart for $62 I got 1 dress, 2 skirts, 3 pairs of jamie pants, a t-shirt and 2 sweaters!!! Some items are for my daughters but I think I got a ton for the money....that comes out to an average of $7/item! One skirt may go back as my daughter didn't know what size she needed.....Off to procrastinate some more!!!
-
mysunshine. . .what a great experience. Karen, kudos to you. Unless I go on a long hike, I rarely hit 15K. Ruth hope you're feeling better.
I have officially returned my new Fitbit Blaze. The step count and miles were way off when compared directly to my Charge HR by wearing both for several days. I have ordered the Surge and hope for better results.

Good evening friend- did a solid 40 min work out at the gym tonight with weights and abs. As we come in to March, I find less crowds and people hoarding the machines. Getting back into my routines again.
Ruth- I love codeine cough syrups and hope that is helping you to get better and know it is great to help with sleep. Sounds like you had a b-day too and wishing you an awesome year filled with great work outs, more fun travel, and excellent health!
-
Ruth I would say I was down a solid month, it was a week after San Francisco that I went to the doctor, then it was two weeks where all I did was lay on the couch at my office and nap, lay on the couch at home and nap then go to bed and sleep (yes Jazzy that fabulous cough syrup) then about a week of low impact recumbent bike riding, bleah but pneumonia is nothing to sneeze at, and it can be deadly (it's what Jim Henson of the Muppet fame died of).
Sorry your Blaze didn't work our Scottie, my Zumba instructor is a major tekkiest and he says never buy the first generation of a productas the second generation is always right behind and the bugs are already being fixed. Beautiful pictures Mysunshine. Nice to see you against Meljo, glad you've been keeping up with the exercise. Karen you certainly got some bargains, Stein Mart has lovely items so you did good.
Yesterday went to Body Combat and nothing formal today as I had to work I've got 12000 steps and I've been standing on hard concrete and lifting 38lb trays filled with mail all day, my back is hurting like heck, I've taken ibuprofen and foam rolled and I'm sitting on a heating pad and I get to repeat it all over again tomorrow lucky me.
-
Mornin' glories! I had a very busy weekend. Finished a huge project for work, got Feb books done for DH's business and our taxes put together for the accountant, and treated myself with a nice walk in the afternoon (I called it my 7th inning stretch).
Ruth, I finally got your box put together and DH will take it to the post office today.
Hope everyone's today is better than yesterday! ♥ to all
-
Ruth - hope you're taking it easy and resting up. Think of it this way - by taking a break for a few weeks, you're giving your joints and muscles a chance to heal up any little nagging injuries and soreness that we all have. Once you're better, you'll be ready to go.
Badger - so glad that Hank the dog is the real Hank the dog (for you non-baseball people, Hank is the Milwaukee Brewer's baseball mascot - there was a brief internet conspiracy kerfuffle that the original had been replaced by another dog). Badger got to meet Hank a few years ago!
Great pictures, Sunshine! What a fun experience. Karen - you are the shopping queen!
My new Garmin Vivosmart HR arrived and synced immediately, so obviously there was some issue with the first one. Much better! I like the heartrate monitor feature, as well as the fact that it's waterproof so I can wear it in the pool.
Speaking of swimming, I did a half mile yesterday. Thanks for the inspiration Ginger! I haven't done a swim that long since I used to do lap swimming in college, so I was pleased with myself.I've been so good about keeping off my ankle - here's hoping I can run the 8K race on Saturday.
-
Have to remember the Garmin Vivosmart HR next time I'm in the market since I'm in the pool so much. Ruth, hope you follow DH and not hbcheryl in recovering. mysunshine, your kitty is fine but missing you lots. Have new visitor who will be buying a home here so may cut into my exercise a little but not going to let it stop me. Either they (she and my sister) join me or they are on their own (I think they will commit somewhat). Going feed the kitty then look at houses, hit DMV for license/registration changes, food shopping, check out watercolor class and, maybe, do Leslie Sansone class later.
Have a great day sculpted friends.
-
Meljo. so good to read and see how well you are! You will do terrific on a half. Mysunshine, love seeing the sun, Mary, good going on the half mile. Had a weird accident and poked my left eye in the corner and have a red half eye. Not hurting but what a dumb thing to do. Cover teaching BB tomorrow, hoping more red clears by morning.
Pink Pilates today.
-
Youch, hope your eye is better, Lilac!
I mustered enough energy to clean the bathroom & take a quick trip to Walmart (DH was at a meeting & if I sent him he'd buy the wrong stuff anyway). Yes, I have decided to lie low the rest of the week (in fact, I just messaged my very sweet yoga teacher telling her why I wasn't showing up for class). My joints and muscles should feel brand new by the time I use them again. Ha!

5K with Leslie Sansone class.

Rained today so didn't get a mid day walk
Had a few errands to run after work and walked to the first one. When I got there, I got a phone call from my mother. her mobility scooter was not working and I needed to go bring her dinner as she could not get to the dining room. That just sent my stress level through the roof!! I walked home quickly and drove over to Mom's. Mom's mobility continues to decline almost daily and I just so worry. She still is in independent living with in home help 2 to 3 hours in the morning. Soon she will need more and when will she need to move to assistive living? Got her dinner and then came home...but needed a glass of wine. DD and I went to dinner. Now I have to write my paper that I didn't write yesterday. so need to go get busy. Part of me doesn't care, but taking classes is the only way to increase salary.

I had a wonderful time yesterday at my re-imagined "Senior Prom" at Old Ranchero High! The show was a hoot replete with bad girls, a young guy in love, wallflowers, cheerleaders....all done in fine burlesque tradition. Band was "Prom Queen" which is 50s style vocals, but more sanguine lyrics. Food was great as well, as at Nordo's Culinarium. This spot may become one of my regular hangouts as the right combination of fun, nerdiness, great food, and good libations. One of the summer offerings will be a re-imagination of "The Glass Menagerie" as a dinner party. Shared a table with a young male gay couple who are also foodies so lots to talk about. Good looking too. We chatted about all the good spots in Seattle to find the perfect ingredients for a great meal. Kicked off the evening with a "Truantini", then someone must have spiked that punch bowl?????
Anyway, the prom finally ended....much better than the original one I attended, and then back to the real world via a rapid run to the bus stop (benefit of running) and then a trip back to the Park & Ride. Not nostalgic at all about the horrendous undies, but were used with great wit and skill in the show. The reality is that I LOVE my La Perla's and in no way want to take a time trip back to the land before great hose and other more fun "underpinnings" were invented. Not to mention that black lace is a lot more fun than "hospital white".
Back to reality and work, and yes, I did do my planned exercise today. - Claire
-
Mary, I had not heard about the "new" Hank!
Hardly enough time to breathe at work yesterday but did break away for a 20 min walk at noon.
Headed out of town on business for a few days, just in time for a run of near-60 degree days.
Saw 1st robin on Sun and orange road construction barrels on Mon so Spring is here. ♥ to all

Its been six weeks since my exchange surgery and the first day I was allowed back at the swimming pool. I had been trying to swim as often as possible during and after chemo with the tissue expanders. I was doing great. Figured I would get back in the water and build myself up once again. WELL after just four stokes I thought I was going to drown. My arms are fine. It is my chest and all the internal stiches. I slithered over to the side of the pool and jogged in place and did very very light arm exercises for about a half hour and then tried the dead mans float.. Not sure if its just the internal stiches are not totally healed or if I have to go for major PT to get to a point where I can swim again.
Think I will wait for my appointment in two weeks at the PS to discuss and in the meantime just take long walks.
-
Ouch, ouch, ouch.....sounds painful PNY!
Sounds like a fun day, Claire.
I will have to start looking out for robins; if they are in Wisconsin, we can not be far behind.
-
Hi Everybody! I haven't been on for awhile because I developed a sinus infection, went to the doctor, took my medicine, rested and now I'm better. Up-to-date on all the posts.
I walked/ran the last 3 days. Today was 77 degrees with a cooling breeze. We have LOTS of robins so spring just around the corner.
-
You know you're addicted to your Fitbit (ChargeHR) when you leave the gym right after you get there because the battery died. I figured why get on the treadmill if it didn't count. I was too tired anyway. Got my new Fitbit Surge today. Very happy that it seems to work just fine and easily paired with my phone. Now to find somewhere to hike this weekend so I can test out the GPS.
