Bras After BMX, no Recon

Is there any reason why I would need my bras after my BMX next week? I'm not having reconstruction.

If not, I think I'll throw them away now, so that I won't have to look at/deal with them later.

I donated all but one of mine to a women's shelter. I haven't worn a bra in a year.

I tossed all of mine as soon as I could drive. If you don't mind being flat, why have them? Unless there is a certain top that just won't look right without boobs. I'd toss that too!

I wouldn't have been able to wear my old ones anyway, so I tossed them.

I would not toss any clothes until after surgery, particularly favorites. I found that lower-cut or wider-cut tops work nicely with adaptation using various layering methods. Also, I was flatter than expected, and still wear forms in public most of the time with my existing clothes. For older, classic, quality clothes, good luck finding similar quality today.

Demi-bras may not be very useful, but non-mastectomy bras with a full-cup can be adapted by those with sewing skills. See e.g.,

I have a lot of nice bras that I am convinced I am going to find a way to wear sometimes, I am sure that won't the case though. Out of habit, I even ordered a new one over the holidays totally spacing that I wouldn't 'be able to wear it in a few months. I am planning on getting some prosthetics (Is that what you ladies call forms?), so I am hoping to make them work some how.  Probably a pipe dream though :P

To add, after reading this thread and replying, I went a searched the boards a little. I found this thread and ladies said they make bean bags and put them in their bras. I still have to do more research and it may not look as good as a prosthetic, but I may be willing to try it at least around the house so I def will be keeping my bras, for now anyway!

I kept 1 bra & 1 bikini. Neither of which I will ever wear again. Just not really good at throwing things out.

I went out once wearing one of my old bras with socks stuffed into it. No kidding. My husband said I should have used more socks. Now I have foobs and a couple of pocketed bras, but I still go flat almost everywhere just because it's more comfortable. I wish I'd never got cancer, but tbh, I love love love being flat! I hated bras, and never especially liked my real boobs to begin with.

A few days ago my husband I went out to get something to eat and then visit his parents and several hours into the visit at the in-laws house he suddenly said, "Oh, you're wearing your boobs today. I hadn't noticed until now!" So obviously, he doesn't much care if I'm flat, either, so long as I still have good legs....which I do, hehe.

Thanks for the ideas. I decided to toss them. If I want a bra later, I'll buy something without memories.

I say throw all the old stuff out. If you want to wear a bra later, they do have some gorgeous mx lingerie and with my prosthetic, love my new bras and camisoles, etc. Ariom, who used to be on here before, even had what she called her foobamoire or something like that, filled with foobs and clothing. There are some beautiful lines of clothing that she even modeled for. I am trying to recall the name of the brand. But shower puffs, socks, etc. also work. Just know you have choices. I am a uni so I find going flat a bit difficult as that leaves one of the girls with no support. But after two years, dressing just comes natural, I know what works and what does not and do not even think about it anymore. Swimwear and all.

I would love to know the name of that line of clothing. I've searched for post mastectomy designs for going flat, and finally decided that I'm going to start making my own clothes again, like I did in high school.

I looked on my bathing suit and it is amoena. I have their prosthesis, bathing suit, bras, etc. and have been very pleased. Good luck and happy shopping!

More importantly, good luck with your surgery and speedy recovery.
