-
Twirp~ Just saw your update. I'm so sorry to hear about your setback. I attend a cancer support center and one of the women on of my wellness class groups shared a very similar setback story & has been cancer free for over 5 years. I'm sure its scary as hell, but you are very strong and I truly believe will beat this! We are here for you!
Sending my love & support!!

Echo was fine, I got Taxol/ Herceptin + 4 yesterday, after having to skip last week due to complications with my inner ear issues (Meniere's). So far so good. I always clean house like a mad woman the night of my infusion, obviously due to massive steroids. Hubby is amazed, LOL! Tired as hell the next day
Then fatigue sets in for a few days, then better just in time for next tx. Such is life. I'm praying to feel good enough to go to my 3 1/2 year old grand daughter's first horse show in the morning. Starts at nine and is over an hour drive. Morning is not my strong point, but I have major incentive! Forgive my indulgence of posting a pic of my very heart. Take care sweet ladies.

Birdie, love the pic! How adorable!
The letter was very moving. What a great tribute.
Glad your Echo was good and you are hanging tough
-
Twirp, so sorry for your setback. Prayers to you, you got this! !! Birdie glad your echo is good!!!
-
Thinking of you Twirp. Hugs!!
Sammy3, great leggings
looks comfy!
Angtee15, best to you too!
Akioli, I started with Taxol first, and there were still some left at the back, but once AC started, most fell off.
I was hospitalized for a few days this week to get some fluids and to manage side effects. Will be doing my 3rd AC next week.
Best wishes to everyone.

Woot! Woot! Praising God! Finished my LAST chemo today!!!!
I start my every 3 week Herceptin this next week and will be on it for a year. Get a chest, abdominal and pelvic CT mid March to make sure everything looks okay. I get a few weeks to let my immune system ramp up before starting Tamoxifen. So excited for even MORE hot flashes! Not! Lol.
Even though I'm done with chemo, I plan to stick around on this discussion board. Still praying for and cheering on all you beautiful brave ladies! Stay strong and keep kicking cancer's butt! We've got this!!!!!!

Way to go Karenbo! Birdie love the pi
-
Birdie56- Glad to hear you had a good Echo. Love the photo of your granddaughter. I find I right now I especially appreciate seeing photos of my loved ones & good friends kids and pets being cute and enjoying life. What a lovely letter! Thanks for sharing.
NewDay123- Sorry to hear the SE were so bad you had to be hospitalized. Hope you're feeling much better!
Karenbo- Congratulations!! Woo Hoo! My last is 3/31- (also doing Herceptin for a year) Can't wait for it to be over!
Sammy3- Great Leggings!
Twirp- Thinking of you & sending hugs!
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!
-
Birdie56 - Glad to hear your echo was good. I go in for mine on Wednesday.
Karenbo - Congrats on finishing chemo. I have one more to go, then Herceptin for a year as well. Good luck with the scans.
NewDay123 - Good luck with number 3.
-
Karenbo, congrats on finishing your chemo! And hoping for good scans.
Newday, so sorry you had to go to hospital. Hope you are feeling better.
I had my 3 week follow-up Thursday and my counts were good and I got started on Tamoxifen. That night I came down with a chest cold and have been feeling crappy and not sleeping well since. I can't decide if it's the cold or the Tamoxifen keeping me from sleeping good.
When you all say you have to do the every 3 week Herceptin, is that an infusion you have to go in for like chemotherapy?
-
The herceptin is an infusion every three weeks that you get like chemo. My last chemo is March 24th, then I'll go in every three weeks for the herceptin until December.
-
The herceptin like Lemint said is an infusion that you get at the chemo center, but fortunately much milder and with less side effects and it doesn't impact your immunity. It's a targeted therapy for those of use with HER2+
-
It looks like several of us will be finishing up chemo before the end of the month. I'm looking forward to being done with what I'm hoping is the hardest part.
Karenbo - I'm not sure if you have read other threads where people talk about Herceptin only treatments. Some mention getting the infusion over 90 minutes instead of 30 minutes. They say the longer infusion time could help minimize the SEs. When I start Herceptin only in April I was going to ask about that. I've been getting it at 30 minutes with the chemo drugs and Perjeta.
-
((sigh)) and there go the eyelashes ((sigh))
-
Thanks for the tip KHinMD. I'm going to ask about it this Friday!
Sorry about the eyelashes Birdie
-
Sorry Birdie, I have kept some of mine, but they are definitely sparse.
-
I hear ya Birdie, a little eyeliner on the lid goes a long way in fooling outsiders. I think ppl don't expect it, so they don't over analyze our faces unless something is obviously missing. A dark rim around the eye is a dark rim to them. At least I prefers to think this way otherwise I might never leave the house!
-
I feel you Birdie. It's yet another downer. I've been using Brian Joseph gel from day one and I am certain my last few lashes won't hold on much longer.(I was only using it once a day though...its so pricey.)
It's really when you start to look sick when the lashes go. But Pez is right! Make-up to the rescue! I am getting pretty good with filling in the gaps with my brows.
-
Thanks girls. Such is life, huh? Enjoy this beautiful day!
-
How is it we lose our darn eye lashes but I still have to shave my legs!?!? So damn unfair. 😜
Interesting about the Herceptin, thanks for asking MVSpaulding. Ladies enjoy the Sunday and keep strong!!!
-
Hello!
Still have my eyebrows but 2 chemos left.. And most of my eyelashes.. Tomorrow i do the Look Good Feel Good class, so i'll see what comes in my goody bag.. Otherwise i trip to the Anastasia Brow salon near my house to get supplies for the inevitable loss of both. (the brand they sell at Sephora, started out in LA). Had lunch with a friend who went through breast cancer, double mastercomy, chemo, reconstruction Fall 2015- Summer 2015. (she also just had her ovaries removed due to BRCA 1 in her family) Was encouraging to see how well she was doing and hear how fast her brows and eyelashes came back.. Her hair came in weird at first but then got back to normal and looks great now..
Beautiful windy day today in LA.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend!
-
December chemo crew! I have a question about AC. When do you start taking the Claritan for bone pain? I have my first AC infusion on Friday....
-
I started Claritan a day or two before the infusion and kept it going for about a week. Might have been overkill, but I never had any bone pain.
-
Thanks Pez!
-
Ugh...going for a CT tomorrow of chest and abdomen. I have a spot on my right rib cage that is painful. When I use to wear underwire it would bother me. I haven't wore underwire in almost 6 months. Thank God for xanax because I'm gonna loose it. I have not told my hubby because I don't need him worrying.
-
so sorry you have to go through that Stotamom, I'm sending positive vibes and prayers your way.
-
Sending hugs and good karma Stotamom ♡
