Confused, nervous, the whole gambit
GP order a left breast ultra sound due tethering and pain in my left breast. Had the ultrasound done today and it was like playing 1001 questions. She kept asking me about my family history with breast and ovarian cancers and all my symptoms and when exactly I noticed things. Then she was completely silent the rest of the test. She came back and said the radiologist wanted a mammogram of both breasts. Had the the tech ask from that come back and ask were the tethering was and then say the radiologist said your okay follow up with your GP. I my confused as to if they saw something and that why the mammogram but couldn't see it on that. Should I be asking my GP for a MRI to be safe?

This is waiting for test part was the worst for me. Just take it one day at a time you will want all the test done so you and the doctor can make the best plan if it is something and If not you worried for nothing. So I guess my best advise is to not worry until you get bad new. If you get that news your in the right place to ask questions to seek the right treatment

thank you herb! I went from thinking oh is probably like Cellulite or something and I'm worrying for nothing to holy crap balls could this actually be something. I'll defiantly ask for an mri. I think the piece of mind would be the most helpful if all three test say I'm good this will be easier to put behind me. I'm really hoping my GP calls me this week to go over everything. Good luck on your journey Herb

The radiologist don't always tell you anything. They do usually perform a diagnostic mammogram with an ultrasound. Are you calling your GP tomorrow to get the results? Good luck!

They said the dr will get my results in a couple of day and to follow up with her. I'll call them Thursday to see if they've look at it. My dream is notorious for not calling when results are in or calling before close of the day Friday so if you miss the call you have to wait till Monday to get a hold of someone. The fact that the radiologist order the mammogram freaked me out since it was not ordered by my dr. I feel like a lie of its now standard procedure to get a baseline for future tests would have just been nice. Thank Logang good luck to you as well

Keep us posted. Hoping for benign results for you!

just saw the GP and my mammogram and US came back normal but considering my family history and my symptoms she is sending me to the breast surgeon she uses and he will discuss having a Mir or other testing. Was hoping they would say my symptoms were from such and such B9 condition and either this is the treatment or there is nothing you can do. Now it's more waiting

Seeing a breast surgeon is a great idea. My GYN referred me in the beginning thinking that I would at least have my foot in the door even if I received Benign results. I have a rather thick family history. So glad I agreed to go!
I hope you don't have to wait to long to be seen. Waiting is so difficult. Good luck!

I got my appointment for the breast specialist for end of April. Should be fun it's 10 days after I get my tonsils out so hopefully my throat won't hurt to much to ask questions. I also spoke with my dr again and asked her to send me for an MRI since my mother has said she'd pay for it so I don't have to wait 6 months to a year for one. So I'm book for the MRI April 1st. My doctor said with my family history of breast and ovarian cancer on my maternal side being all under 50 it just would make the most sense to not wait and thinks there is a strong case for genetic testing. I had gotten over the stress of not knowing what's going on until a few nights ago I had a dream the MRI showed two spots. The next morning my mom called and said she can't wait and wanted me to tell the dr we'd pay for one even if it's for some peace of mind

Sounds like a great plan Belle. I wish you luck and hope the MRI results are good!

Just had my MRI today. Not so bad I mean ya it's loud and a little jarring but I just pretended I was at a terrible electronic dance music festival and that it's really no worse then when my 4 yr old and my 2.5 year old play on the keyboard. And at least I didn't have to worry about fight or snack and potty breaks. So really it was kind of a nice break. I have to wait a week or so for the results but since I don't see the breast specialist til the 29 I'm not overly worried about the results. I've decide to be more zen about it. I'll be okay either way. I'd recommend stretching your shoulders before getting in the machine and also wear socks I get cold feet and it helped me stay more comfortable

Glad to hear your MRI experience was a good one! I hated mine! Hoping for benign results!

Thank you Logang. I really appreciate your comments and positive vibes. Your comments have really helped me be positive and keep everything in perspective. You're wonderful and I'm lucky that you have been so supportive

No problem! A positive attitude and sense of humor go a long way!

Had my BS appointment. The MRI was clear of anything of concern. He feels confident that it's not cancer just some of the ligaments in my breast gave up trying to hold this sucker up. He's still concerned with my family history and want me to have a full genetic screening done and wants to have a serious conversation if it comes back positive about what to do with my breast. I'm suppose to have a reduction in August but that could change based on the genetic screening results

That's good news. Fingers crossed that no mutations are found in the genetic testing.
