  • I was diagnosed with IDC, stage 1 grade 2, no lymph node involvement, triple negative. I had a BMX 3 weeks ago and I am still having discomfort. I do my exercises and will start PT this coming week. I am sore under where my breast were and all the way around. I have these jolts of pain where my left breast was, like a twisting pain. When will this go away? I still have issues sleeping on my side where the incision ends and my chest is so sensitive to touch. I have bought loose sports bras and camis but I feel so suffocated wearing them.

When do you see your BS again? It's a major surgery, lots of things were cut, moved around, takes time for all to heal. Maybe cut back on exercise a little bit until you start PT.

I had many of the same issues including little bursts along my incisions that i would compare to an electric shock. I was told it was all normal. Don't give up on the exercises they gave you (as my nurse told me 'no pain, no gain'). The discomfort and sensations dissipated for me around 4 weeks after my surgery and now I'm almost 9 weeks post surgery and feel almost 100% again

I was still quite painful three weeks out, lots of motion restriction in my rib cage where my drain was, etc. PT has helped tremendously!

I see BS this coming Thursday along with PT. How long did you all numbness in your axillae area? I had sentinel node biopsy to my right underarm but numbness to both sides

I did not start sleeping on my sides till about 8 weeks after. I did request for PT because I was starting to develop some cording on my affected side. The cords starting resolving after only my first PT session. I have full range of motion at about 6 to 8 weeks after. I still have some numbness (it does not bother me) but the tightness is gone.

I did not opt for recon, and don't plan to, and have been going braless since. I do like my new found freedom .

It definitely takes time. I wore a pillow between me and the seatbelt for four weeks after my BMX because my chest was so sensitive. By the end of the day, I'd even be holding my shirt away from my body with one hand. It was also about six weeks before I could sleep on my right side, and probably about two months before I could sleep on the left side that had the SLNB. My ribs are still sore to the touch where I had the drains. It's a slow process, but after a while you notice you're getting a bit better, week by week.

I still have numbness in my left armpit where the SLNB took place, but the area of numbness has shrunk some. It doesn't extend as far as it used to. And some areas that used to be numb are only like half numb now.
