I had my sim today - now covered with red marker and got 4 tit "tats." Don't know for sure yet when treatment will begin - they said 7-10 days. My RO gives Radiaplex. Anybody have any experience with that?

Peabrain - we had a 30 ft. Airstream Excella for about 7 years - fulltimed in it for 3 years, then traded up for a motorhome where we fulltimed for an additional 3 years. I sure miss the RV days.

    Gorgeous Andra!

I had my sim today too. The good news is I get to do the Canadian protocol, so only 21 total. Can't wait for this to be over!

Brithael, watch out for that red marker. It bled all over my bra! I will have to look up Radiaplex.

Andra, your pattern is exquisite!!! I love it! I like the Miaderm (even getting used to the smell now), but I don't think I'll try aquaphor because my skin has never liked the vaseline-based lotions. See if your RO will give you a technical explanation of why their treatment is the correct one for you. Remind them you are an athlete! Mine would not normally have done the gated breathing for my right side treatment, but when I told him I spend a lot of time over 10,000 feet he agreed to do it.

Brmiton, I got the same line from my techs when I asked some questions. But my RO came in when I was done and answered them for me.

Kate, so sorry you are sick :( I hope the upcoming nice weather will help you kick it!

Good luck this week, everyone. I'm thinking serene thoughts for everyone!

Andra: OMG, *that's* what you meant!!! Gorgeous!!!

Twnkl: Ditto! I don't usually have time to work on the puzzle prior to getting zapped, but I've got to wait for DH to come get me afterwards, so that's my puzzle time. It's a collaborative effort, but I have to admit that I get a bit irritated when I see other people working on "my" puzzle. Oof. Lol!

@adark I always have to fix it because other people put pieces in the wrong spots. Ugh! :D

@andra your henna is gorgeous! I wanted to do that, but my hair never completely fell out. It was this thin, patchy stubble. Not enough to cover my head by any stretch, but not bare enough for henna (I didn't think so, anyway).

First boost today, and so much faster than the regular treatments! My armpit burns when I put cream on it, so the nurse said to leave it alone until it scabs over. "keep your arm up," she said. Oy.

However, my mental/emotional state has vastly improved. Just four more! Less than a week!

DING! DING! DING! DONE!!!!!!! Whoohooo!!!! I've got to go back and read the posts from yesterday, and I will catch up!!! To everyone who finished today! YAY!!!!!! To all who still have zaps to go.... we're all with you!!!!

    Peabrain!!!!!!!

Wow! It was such a relief to be finished today. I danced, I sang, I made a spectacle of myself, and probably scared patients who were in with the doctors. I rang the bell as hard as I could and let everyone know it was over! I'm thankful for every zap, getting rid of anything that might have been lurking.... Bam! One more big chunk of treatment done... Now it;s just the Herceptin every 3 weeks until June/July and waiting on the bloodwork to decide my hormonal drug...

Keep at it ladies! You've got this! You are all warriors!

    Warrior On!

Hi All - Happy March! I am pretty sick - cold thing has gone into my chest - hurts to cough and have to find the truck that hit me- temp holding in the 99 range so no fever! Thanks for the well wishes! So jealous of all who have puzzles in waiting room - my waiting area for patients has nothing - no TV. no puzzles and no wireless signal .. I am with all on the emotional rollercoaster of this diagnosis .. I am not normally an emotional person - have only really cried a few times over the last 10 months! Today I sobbed - got home from Rads #22 and feeling crappy then read about Joey Feek saying Goodbye to her 2 year old and sobbed and sobbed! I hate cancer!

Congrats, High Fives and Happy Dances to PeaBrain (love love the Airstream), JerseyGirl (you just rock) and sailorgirl15 (have a great last day tomorrow) and anyone else finishing this week .. seems like a few finishing boosts this week ..

Brimton - Kumbaya on the hand holding - love it! It is corny but who cares :) My chest and back shoulder blade area - have raised red dots and some are bigger patches - hoping nothing opens up with 6 whole breast/chest rads left then 6 boosts! My sim for Boosts is this Thursday - Hooray for Week 5 - the end is in sight for us

Andraxo - Wow - you are so brave and your head is Gorgeous!! Love it ...

DiDel - I use California Baby Calendula Cream (cheapest at walmart.com) 3-4 times per day & prescription Betamethasone cream 2-3 times per day - skin is red and extra crispy in 2 spots.. hoping it holds on! Love your sneeze story - HA! I have more itching than burning - Calendula really has a great cooling effect!

Twnkltoz - You said it best and Cancer just plain sucks - glad you are feeling better and almost done!!

    Hugs to you Musosgirl ..

Dorothy - hang in there - Good Luck tomorrow - all will be fine and once you get the 1st one done - the rest will just fall into place!!

adarkadapted - so so with you on the back/neck/shoulder/hip agony and I am 46 going on 90 - so not fun!! I am going to a PT tomorrow hoping to get on the road to feeling better .. or at least be able to get out of a sitting position more easily LOL!!

Have a great night all! Heading to early bed! Hugs to all

    Mary

Oh JerseyGirl2 , I was thinking about your today ! Congrats ! Twinkltoz and I will be right behind you....My center had a tiny desk bell, like at a hotel or store when you need assistance...but believe me Im tapping it over and over.....

Kateb79, oh no not the flu,,,,,be sure to hydrate....and take the meds till they are done...you poor thing.....

I love your henna head Ardarkadapte, you are beautiful !!!

and Brimton, I love the visual of us holding hands in a circle.....warms my heart.....

Oh guess what? I did the cabbage thing tonight and believe it or not, it took out the "anger and redness". Im so excited....looked like a nut laying in bed with cabbage and an undershirt.....but it REALLY WORKED !

Good night my friends, sleep well, this part of our nightmare will be over soon......One Day AT A Time....

Andra, I've been waiting all day until I was at a computer (as opposed to my phone) to see pics of your henna...totally amazing!!

I've been reading everything but not posting too much...been so busy over the past few days and it's hard to post from my phone when I'm out and about.

I'm about to give up on bras completely, at least during rads. I have been wearing soft bras just when I go out so that I look and feel more symmetrical, but my underarm area always feels so terrible by the time I get home. I wish someone would invent a "one boob bra" for those of us who are lopsided and going through radiation. I guess it's going to be baggy shirts over tank tops for me for a while!

My skin is getting tan and pink but not too much worse yet. I've only done 11 out of 25 rads, though (plus 5 for a boost), so I still have plenty to go! I've been using Miaderm after the treatment and aloe at night. Sometimes I am up early enough in the morning to slather something on in the morning, but the RO doesn't want anything on my skin within 3 hours of treatment.

Just ready for this all to be over...

While getting ready today there was a loud bell sound coming from down the hall. It was a older lady who shared her bell moment with the entire floor and then some. Her smile was from ear to ear as her tears flowed down her face. She scanned the room and made direct eye contract with all the blue gowned gals. She looked and me for just a glance to say it will be okay just keep on going.

This is a moment that was special for her strength and joy made my treatment less scary today. If she can do it then so can I as I walked towards the thick lead door. This is a moment one can't really explain to those who have not walked towards a treatment room.

@Andraxo - that is amazing looking!!! I didn't even know that was an option or I would have done it right off. WOW!

In other news, I asked my RO about holding my breath and they said that they don't have anyone hold their breath at our clinic. So funny how everyone does it different.

Today was my last rad treatment. No bell (supposedly they couldn't find a place to hang it that met ADA standards so they put it in storage, but that just seems like a lack of imagination), but I did get hugs from a whole bunch of the techs and reception staff. And my designated fish wished me well, I'm sure of it.

I have a raw patch of skin underneath my breast right on the surgery scar so I got a bag full of gauze and Aquafor and a sexy webby tube top to hold the dressing in place. I am supposed to apply twice a day for one week and supposedly that will make it heal up all better.

And I get to take all those little stickers off me. Careful not to peel off the skin!

Tomorrow I get my ovaries out and that will be that! If anyone is interested, I'll let you know if that makes the hot flashes any worse. Can't wait to start healing from this string of medical adventures

@Andra....Your henna pattern is so beautiful! Not everyone needs the snorkel like Brimton explained so clearly. The two large cancer centers here recommend Glaxal Base cream by Wellskin and unscented lanolin free Lubriderm. @ Kate.....wishing you a speedy recovery and everyone else dealing with skin issues and other problems.

Wishing all of you lovely ladies the very best today, tomorrow and always!

Hello all! I will be starting rads in a few weeks. My rad onc said that I'm not to use any lotions or creams during the entire 6 weeks of rads! Her thinking is that it's not always easy to scrub off in the shower and it can create an extra layer for the beams to get through, making radiation less effective.

Is there anyone on this board that had this restriction? How did your skin hold up? Thank you!

    Andraxo your henna is beautiful.

mdoc524 I read the goodbye from Joey Feek and I also cried and cried. I started reading and said I shouldn't do this but I continued and just cried. Cancer does suck.

What do others do for deodorant. I start my rads on Monday.

    Have a great day everyone.

Mary, my plastic won't exchange until 6 months after RADS. I have to carry this rock boob, roob, another 6 months!

Congrats ladies on finishing RADS, you are such brave warriors!

Twnktozs, my doc said to keep my arm in the air too! I walk around with my hand on my hip at school. The kids think I'm weird anyway.

3 left for me. I can't believe it is almost over. 27 treatments down! That is a huge chunk of life.

Holding you all in my heart this afternoon at 3:30.

Peabrain will be thinking of you today so hard to go from one treatment to surgery so fast. Positive thoughts

Congrats to all of you who have finished or will finish this week. I have 11 more to go. The count down is on. It did seem to go by pretty fast. Wish my hair would grow that fast. To bad the mixer couldnt za some hair strands on my head at the same time
