We're looking forward to meeting you, too, Suz-Q!!!
HUGS!
-
LOL Peggy the Poet!
-
So excited! Since we have newcomers (and I'm playing the cancer card and calling Chemo Brain early), I'm going to bring nametags. I hope no one minds.
-
Nancy, that's a great idea! Your brain is working just fine!
Suz-Q, First and last time
HUGS!
-
Nancy, great idea on the nametags. How are you doing? Hope the TC treats you more gently than the AC+T. Weather will dictate whether I arrive Fri. night or leave home early Sat. morning (it was about 4 hrs. to Chelsea the last time I drove to MI, so probably 3.5 to Jackson; and there’s that pesky little matter of losing an hour going east). Definitely considering either taking a room for Sat. night too, as it might not be the smartest idea to drive long-distance after wine-tasting! Any ideas about which hotels or B&Bs are best?
-
Sandy, I forwarded my email notification on to Nancy. Damn weather!
HUGS!
-
I'd much rather be staying in a hotel in Chicago, Sandy! Maybe we'll all have to jump a train this summer and come visit you. :-) There's a new Holiday Inn just off I-94 at exit 137 that's nice, I hear. Not too familiar with B&Bs in the area, sorry. And Kalamazoo has phenomenal places to stay, great dinner opportunities - maybe we could drive back that way, with Jo too, and do dinner? Who knows - right now I'm playing every minute by ear.
TC is treating me okay, I guess. Some naseau this time I don't remember with AC. And it's a Miralax-in-my-coffe kinda morning. :-) But in general doing okay. Taking advantage of the offer to "work at home when necessary" so I'll actually get more accomplished in between bathroom breaks, I'm sure (and maybe less embarrassment). Really looking forward to Saturday!!
-
Good Day, Ladies! I'm back from my house hunting trip in Spokane and BOUGHT A HOUSE!! My counter offer to the seller's counter offer was accepted last night just after I got home. I'm so excited and scared. Now to get my house sold - but not too soon so I don't have to move out before the memorial for Chuck Memorial Day weekend.
House has NO basement. All on one floor and small yard. And quite new (2009).
It was a whirlwind of looking at many houses, going back and looking again and going back again.
Pets sure were glad to see me and have been sticking to me.
I'm ready to embark on the next phase of my life.
Nancy, I hope you're doing well with few SEs! You're always in my thoughts.
BTW, if any of you ever get to Spokane, my welcome mat is out!
HUGS!
-
Congratulations Peggy!!! Sounds like a great house and it will be ready and waiting for you when you make the leap to Spokane:) Hope to see you before you move? Take care, (((Hugs))) Maureen
Thinking of you (((Nancy))) know it's a tough time, hope you're doing okay....
-
Thanks, Maureen! I am planning on seeing you at least once before I move.
HUGS!!!
-
Wow Peggy! That was a very productive visit! Congratulations, I'm very happy for you
-
Suz-Q, thanks! It was quite the whirlwind and exhausting. I'm just glad I found MY home and don't have to repeat it!
HUGS!
-
Peggy - so glad you found a new home. We are going to miss you so very much, but know you will be happy out west. You were instrumental in us getting together, and we'll continue to raise a glass in your absence. And when Rhapsody in Red comes out again, I'll send you a case!
I'm doing well, thanks for your thoughts. My hair finally took flight this week so I'm rocking the cute little caps. I'm nursing a nasty infection in my breast and sentinal nods biopsy incision. Running with a less-than-tight sports bra, along with a comprised immune system and previously-radiated tissue caused edema and then infection. Hoping this doesn't delay next week's chemo - I've got a schedule to keep!! 😏
Missing you all very much! Hope we can plan one more get-together to send Peggy off in style
-
Nancy, damn! Hair loss is enough without a rotten infection. Hope it gets under control quickly. No, definitely don't want to delay the chemo - need to get that done and out of the way.
I am planning that we'll get together at least once before I leave. A case of Rhapsody in Red? OMG! I'm quite loopy on a glass of it - much stronger than what I usually drink. Generous thought! Thanks. I certainly hope you all keep getting together. For me, it just feels so good to be with friends who get each other.
Now hurry and get well!
HUGS!
-
Hello ladies!! It's been a while since we've all connected, and I wanted to reach out and suggest another get-together before the snow flies. It won't be the same without Peggy (we miss you!!!), but the weather is beautiful and the vineyard is calling! Is anyone interested in a Saturday or Sunday in September? What works best?
-
Dear Nancy, how ARE you doing? I'm sorry that I am no longer in Michigan (well, sometimes, especially when I can be with you guys).
I'm looking for a winery/vineyard similar in atmosphere to SandHill Cranes for my get together with the BCO'ers from Southern California who are coming to visit. Surprisingly there are 4 BCO'ers here (and one more should be!).
Tipple a few glasses of wine for me!
HUGS!!!
-
Hi Peggy!! So glad you've been able to connect with some BCO sisters on the West Coast. We're envious of their good fortune, but we will surely raise a glass (or two) in your honor!
Every day gets a little better. Hoping this infection is finally under control. I'm pretty sure some company and good wine will make everything that much better.
*hugs* to you!
-
Nancy, when you all are up to it, you're more than welcome to come here. I can put up one person (or a couple), so you can come individually too if you're in the neighborhood (say to visit Yellowstone). While I haven't met people who can compare to my Michigan sisters, my new Spokane ones come close. While nobody wants BC, it has given me friends everywhere and I am so lucky to have them. I think of you all often, especially you Nancy.
HUGS!
-
Nancy, So glad you are up for wine and good company! Hugs! I'd glad they are getting a handle on your infection. I will miss all of you in Sept. Please have a glass for me. I will be there Oct 26-29. I'd be up for meeting up on Oct 29, but it would have to be early in the day so I could catch a bus to Chicago for an evening flight.
I was recently in Indiana, checking up on my mom and clearing out her home. We moved her to a nice long term care facility in New Carlisle near South Bend a couple months ago. Now that she is settled and the move is successful I was finding homes for all her belongings and put the house on the market. It's been a long process but I have an offer on her residence. It's been a long process, but it is working out. We even had a housewarming party for my mom with all her prior caregivers. She's out more now than before because they have have a lift equipped van. It's much closer to the winery than I was before so hope to keep meeting up Sandhill Crane Winery.
Now that wildfires are under control, we can entertain a flight your way, Peggy!
-
Can't wait to see you, Jo! Anytime!!! So glad Mom is settled and the house virtually sold!!!
HUGS!!
-
Hi Nancy! I just saw this post...thanks for getting the ball rolling, I was wondering how you're doing and if folks might want to get together this fall...I just had surgery, the total hysterectomy and ovaries - 2 weeks ago but I could make a visit to the vineyard one weekend in September. Do we have a list of email addresses that we could use to send out a note for people who might not see this invite on the boards? Let me know...would love to see you and hear how you're doing. Maureen
-
I've sent an email with addresses showing to all of you (and probably a few more). That should help. Let me know. I miss you all!
HUGS!
-
Peggy...thanks so much for sending the email addresses...wish you weren't so far away - miss seeing you and miss your wonderful organizational skills:) Hope you are loving your new life out west! If you find the occasion to visit the midwest please let us know so we can try to get together
-
Maureen, thank you for the kind words. I suspect it will be awhile before I can visit Michigan. I do love Spokane. And I'd love to see anyone who ventures out this way. Have fun.
HUGS!!
-
Hi ladies! We have a reservation this Saturday, Oct. 22nd in Jackson for our get-together. If you haven't already RSVP'd and would like to join us, drop me a PM and I'll add you to the list. 11:30, lunch and and opportunity for wine tasting (or not!), as well as connecting with other sisters. We have opened our get-together to others outside BCO who are also dealing with their own BC diagnosis, so feel free to invite family and friends.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again!
Nancy
-
Have a great time! I'll be there in spirit. I miss you all! Take care, Nancy!!!
HUGS!
-
Hi Ladies,
I won't be able to make it. I'm having carpeting installed at my work and just found out I need to open the building for the workers on Saturday at 9:30 am. I don't know how long they will be and I have to lock up after. Count me in for next time!

Dang—one of the Bar Show scenes I’m in has a staging/choreography call this Sat. morning. Missing next week due to the folk music conference I’m playing in Iowa City, so I don’t dare play hooky. Have fun, ladies, and bottoms up!
