Driving
I'm in a bit of a situation I'm worried about.
I still need to get my full G license and it's up June 2016. I was told the MTO will most likely give me an extension.
I do know I can redo the city test and have five years. We are in a new place though and want proper instruction (never back in or parallel park!)
I physically haven't been able to drive since mastectomy. Now it's nervousness. My concentration is already affected a bit through chemo.
I see many women here drive, work, etc. I'm trying. I am stressing about this so much.
Is it worth going through asking for an extension? I'm wondering if I'm alone with concentration issuesand driving.

What is a "full G license"? Is it an Operator's license as opposed to a Restricted (Beginners) license for youth and those adults who have no driving experience? Or some sort of a commercial license?I don't understand how you haven't been able to drive for 2 months after a mast.. I was driving the next day and could not/would not have not driven for 2 months - had responsibilities and a life to get on with. Perhaps living in a big city with lots of public transits might make a bit of difference but thankfully some of us are not stuck in big cities.
June is still 4 months away so plenty of time to learn to back up and parallel park. If there is no commercial driving school in your town, you can get a friend (or 2) to go with you to a large store/mall parking lot to practice in open areas when they are not busy. (No cars to hit but lines you can see for learning to handle the car within an area.)

if you don't have your full license yet, I can understand why driving after surgery would be scary for you. I had a car accident in 2012, and developed a lot of driving anxiety, so I also understand how that happens especially if not driving for a long time. I do think you can pass the test in June if you start getting behind the wheel now. You might want to look at some cognitive behavioral therapy to help you get behind the wheel, I did that when I had my driving anxiety, it only took three sessions and it really helped!

hi Kicks
it is graduated licensing here so yes G2 is a full license but to get a G you have to do a highway test. You can't drive alone on what would be considered a major motorway or freeway with 4 lanes with a G2. I never needed my license until I moved back from the UK
As far as post op...I had my right breast operated on too and with drains on left and unexpected issues had some pain, recovery took me a little longer. I am lucky to be able to walk around my small town if need be and my husband to drive. I do understand what you mean. with me, my compression fracture doesn't help and don't like to drive on meds I'm on. I'm sure all of this will get better and my concentration will get better too.
lessons will come
