Hi,

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Jan '14, estrogen positive, was in my lymph nodes under my arn, and it was 6cm tumor. I had chemo, mastectomy and radiation and finished treatment in feb '15. My question is what kind of follow up care is everyone getting. I have had one Oncology visit with labs in early aug '15 and not scheduled for another visit will end of April with no labs scheduled. Is this normal. I feel like they should be checking more. Was told back at the beginning of this journey that they would keep an eye out on things for years. I have had mammogram. Any help would ease my mind

Thanks

Geri

    Hi Geri...

I had my last Herceptin treatment earlier this month and saw MO. She said she'd see me in six months, I assumed they'd be doing blood work. But no scans, unless there is cause. Of course, how do you know what is a symptom vs. side effect from the Tamoxifen? She told me that if there was something to worry about, the pain would NOT come and go, but remain persistent. Oh, I will also have a follow up with breast surgeon. --Lorie

I see the Onc every 6 months with blood work (CMP,CBC,& CA27.29). This has been ongoing since I finished chemo in 2011. My Onc follows for 5 years then yearly after that. No scans unless something becomes problematic. Diagnostic mammogram yearly.
