Marijen, Have you tried one of your other docs....RAD doc, oncologist, or even primary? Every time I ask for a refill, they give me a 2 month supply. Wish I could share, to get you through. Hugs!

No they took blood sample yesterday to see if there is another problem BECAUSE they don't believe it's from the radiation. I have to wait.

I asked for Ativan during chemo, and they gave me a bottle of 90 (no refills).

    You read that right.

I also got 90 Norcos (just the little guys). I think I've taken a total of seven pills, out of 180. Marjean, it seems we have the opposite problem.

Ask for what you need. If they want to be all Judge Judy about it, that's on them.

Asking for relief from nausea has become more trouble than it's worth, I'll just live with it. 21 to go.

I haven't posted in this group but I have done a lot of reading here. I have appreciated the information I have gotten from this group. I am going to my Sim tomorrow. It has been comforting to hear others experiences. I saw some pictures that were taken back in December of the radiology machine ( I guess that is what it is called). I don't know what I expected it to look like but that wasn't it. I'm glad to have seen what it could look like before I get there. I don't know when they will start the treatment but I was told I would have 21.

Karen, the sim machine is actually a CT machine, so it looks a little different than the accelerator (which looks like a giant Kitchen Aid mixer). Good luck with your sim tomorrow! Just remember to breathe--it really does work.

Interesting all the different ativan experiences. I was given an Rx when I began chemo. Each bottle was for 30 and I had the option for 5 refills, which expires tomorrow. I just got the 4th refill but will see my MO next week and will ask for an update. I'm pretty sure I will get it. They know how it helps me sleep!

I got a call from the dietician at the RO's office today. She's concerned about me losing weight! I've lost 25 pounds since my regular checkup last March, which suits me fine, actually. I weighed more than I needed to anyway. Got the BC diagnosis in June and it's been downhill ever since. Nice to know that someone is paying attention! I told her I would try to eat more. Stuff tastes OK now that I'm done with chemo. Mostly I just don't have much interest in food for some reason.

    Hi Everyone

MISSV - I too was told today no sim for boosts. RO said it has clips from the surgery so no sim needed. SHOPGIRL - Congrats! You are a warrior. Maybe some bit of normalcy for you. DUZY- no snow here lucky it was predicted. I hope you made it in. RO618-- Welcome sorry you are here with us but its a good group. Very helpful with questions ect. Today I saw the RO she said "I was coming along nicely." I felt a bit like a Thanksgiving turkey. Skin itchy and a bit red. She did say to rub in the cream it will be more affective. Onward!

Yay Shopgal! I finished rads yesterday - 16 plus 5 boosts - and have benefitted so much from reading everyone's posts here. In the end my skin got a bit red and itchy but nothing horrible. I feel for you all who have had a worse go. I did get bad indigestion during treatment and lost interest in eating. I'm looking forward to something more than plain crackers. The fatique was noticeable but as long as I could stop and rest for 20 minutes it was ok. Thanks again to everyone for posting, it has been a huge help in managing this whole thing.

Yay Ivy, on finishing!!!! Way to rock the rads!!!!

luzeelu, I'm right there with you on food jut not being that interesting. Chemo did me in with taste problems, but now it's just not that appealing. I'm down 37 pounds since diagnosis... My RO said he doesn't care if I'm close to my goal weight, he doesn't want me to lose anymore. Says the 6'5" walking stick of a man, who runs to work everyday, that is my RO... I'm trying to do better, actually, since chemo, I'm mostly vegetarian. Not for any particular reason except during chemo meat texture drove me nuts... and I haven't gotten the taste for it back yet...

Marijen, I'm so sorry it's been a problem for you with regard to the meds for nausea! They shouldn't be giving you a problem. Ativan really does work wonders for nausea and sleep... For me, with nausea during rads, I've found that peppermint gum helps, too. Weird, but it always helps me...

Wow Marijen - I am at a loss for words - I so hope it all gets worked out for you!! There really is no reason to not give you the full script with refills for the Ativan ..

Welcome Welcome KarenR0618 - So sorry you are here but so glad you found our awesome group! Good Luck with your SIM tomorrow - they may tell you then when you start..

luzeelu - awesome on the weight loss and jealous - I am the opposite so loving everything I can finally taste!

Congrats ivy2 – glad all went well for you!

Question All .. #19 for me today and pretty red with a real Hot spot at Collarbone - RO said all normal and expected.. this morning woke up with achy pain chest area above Foob but below CollarBone! Was not expecting pain with Rads - RO says caused by inflammation - anyone else experiencing Pain too ??

I had my boost sim today. It was about 10 minutes. Technically, easier than the first sim, but because my chest, armpit, and shoulders are so tight, it was excruciating. I was so happy when we were finally done. My RO is very pleased with my burntness and said no more bolus--which isn't that exciting since I only have two more whole breast treatments and only one would have been a bolus, but I guess I'll take it! Boosts should be super quick.

This thing is a real rollercoaster. Some days I'm just miserable, and others I have plenty of energy. Generally, I'm somewhere in between. I feel mostly OK today, although sleepy.

    7 more...

Jerseygirl, I haven't wanted any sort of meat, either. Don't eat red meat anyway, but I do enjoy poultry & seafood. Not so much right now, however! They don't want me to lose any more weight so I need to try to eat more of something at least.

I haven't posted in awhile, but I have enjoyed reading up on all the info from you ladies. I have two more boost left out of my total of 33 treatments. I will be so glad for my skin to start healing! My skin has not been so nice to me :( I have a lot of burning and peeling. Have any of you had burns in all the areas or is it just me? I started out fine, then when I hit #23...bam! Clavicle, underarm and under my funky boob. She gave me silvadine, which is helping, but the best thing I got was mepilex dressing which helps with the friction. I will be seeing my MO next week and begin tamoxifen. Is anyone on here already taking this and if so how is it going? Im getting a little freaked out for some reason about starting on these! Hope everyone has a restful weekend and congrats on all who have finished!

Shopgal, congrats on getting through rads. I know we all go through wondering if our treatment was enough, and we all have to wait and see. It looks like you did everything you could, so try to put it out of your mind and enjoy the time until the next mammo or scan or whatever. Feeling good counts for a lot! Even with my garden variety cancer I wonder if I need to do more.

Peabrain, not everyone does the breath holding. I think if you are having rads on your right side or in the prone position you wouldn't necessarily have to. It is a technique used to protect the heart mostly, although I'm doing it to protect my lung on the right.

HH and Kate, my RO is tall and thin also! And young.

I'm glad we get a break on the weekend. Even though this is my first week I'm looking forward to it.

meme2000 i have been on tamoxifen for 3 weeks, started rads 2 weeks ago. I do not feel any different than before, no side effects so far. In fact i feel way better than i did before tamox, hot flashes from chemopause have diminished considerably.

thanks for the good wishes ladies. My raw skin under my boob is healing but still smarts like a bitch. And the skin under my arm pit at my sentinel node site opened up the day before my last boost. Silvadine def helps.

Shopgal, my experience was that once the skin starting healing, it healed very quickly (and mine was pretty bad). Wishing for a similar experience for you!
