Andrea .. I read your original note in the other thread.

It doesn't sound strange that a man would want to know what your survival statistics are.  You can try logging into Adjuvant.com to get the five year numbers on recurrence and survival.  There isn't a lot of info on 10 year numbers out there.

I'm Stage I and celebrating 4 years cancer free next week.  My 5 year recurrence rate is about 10%.  Would have been lower if I had taken Arimidex or Tamoxifen.  My radiation oncologist made the comment that I have a better chance of getting run over by a bus than having my cancer come back in the first five years.  Of course .. that did not stop my fears.  Cancer is very sneaky.

What I have read is that ER+ can recur after the first five years.  The numbers start to climb after the 10 year mark.  So .. at 10 years out, my recurrence rate is probably about 20%.

Men are so funny with their concrete thinking.  As if knowing the numbers will somehow make everything okay.  Unfortunately, you can't give the guy any guarantees.

I wish you well and the best of luck,

    Bren

PS .. If you try the Adjuvant site, you'll need to log on as a medical professional.  Just make up a name and get a password .. that's what I did.

I just want to update this post a little in case anyone else wants an "estimate". I'm going to be tad flip in my disclaimer: "These links are for entertainment purposes only and not to be used a factual medical data."

That being said, I believe the link you're after is : https://www.adjuvantonline.com/

As of the date of this post the website reads, "Access to Adjuvant! Online is temporarily disabled while we update the tools to reflect the most recent information. Adjuvant! Online is scheduled to be available on February 25th, 2016 after incorporating new information revealed at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium."

So here's another link to a similar calculator: http://www.lifemath.net/cancer/breastcancer/therapy/

This calculator goes 15 years out.

Please note that directly under the graph is an option for display, I was most comfortable with bar graph. It automatically defaults to mortality curves, which is a scary looking display.

I hope you enjoy your displays and again my disclaimer: "These links are for entertainment purposes only and not to be used a factual medical data."

A very similar algorithm was used by my oncologist and gave comparable results, thus the reason I chose not stop Tamoxifen one month out when neuropathy developed. A few months is no big deal at my age and even then no guarantee..
