arimidex and interstitial cystitis

I have been suffering with frequency and now pelvic well really pubic pain for a couple of weeks.  Saw gynae who scanned me and said all was well.  He mentioned atrophy of the bladder but just told me to get replens etc.  Which I know helps the ladies parts but I can hardly get it into my bladder.  I have no uti but get an awful tingling sensation after urinating and this pain I mentioned.  I wondered if the lack of oestrogen has caused I.c. to rear its head.  I am 64 so post menopausal and have been on arimidex for coming up 3 years.

Years ago when I had a cystoscopy they said I had  mild inflammation which eventually settled  but never experienced pain.  I have no  burning on peeing.   just wondered if anyone who has I.c. recognises these symptoms.

You girls are so supportive I have had messages from a kind lady in new york who suffers the same.  Anyone else?

Thanks

Maria

    Hi maria,

Yes low estrogen/atrophy can trigger IC. Bladder pain, frequency and retention can all be symptoms of vaginal atrophy. I have tried several different products since my bc diagnosis because I had to stop all estrogen. Replens is okay but I got a yeast infection using it. I now use a combination of KeyE which is a vitamin E suppository and Gynatrof which is a vaginal moisturizer that you insert usibg a applicator. Gynatrof can be purchased online through a couple different CANADIAN pharmacies. I also previously used a product called Neu Eve which I bought on Amazon. I follow the IC diet even though I wasn't officially diagnosed with it. Hopefully you will find something that works for you.

Molly, can you tell me which Canadian pharmacies that you purchase from online? There isn't any issues with sending to the U.S.?

glennie19, I purchased it here Well Pharmacy Canada. No issues with sending it here and they are incredibly prompt with shipping.

Thanks, Molly. I've been using RePhresh every 3 days, but I'd like to look at some other products too.

This has been really, really good for me. I had my ovaries removed in 2011. I was using Estrace cream prior to my BC diagnosis because I really had hard core atrophy issues. I have been desperate to feel somewhat normal, not have bladder pain and not to have painful intercourse. So far so good on this one. I use the KeyE in between the Gynatrof.

I may try to KeyE first,, and use it in between the RePhresh and see how that goes. And then try the Gynatrof after I use up all the RePhresh I've purchased! I grab it at Walmart when I see it, cuz it is not cheap.
