I wrote a long post but it vanished. I walked around our loop around a mile and one-quarter total. I have some flower photos but need to get to a computer to post them. Walking is much easier now since the breast reduction and lift. New bombs are still swollen but they are manageable. Hope everyone has a great Sunday. I wish I were in NYC to take a walk in Central Park!

Geez, I am still coughing like crazy so am forcing myself to take a day off......blah......I need to be better by Tuesday as I am taking off for a little vacation! When I first started teaching (in 1975) a group of us young single teachers got to be such good friends and had so much fun, that we still try to get together once a year. About 4 years ago, one of the ladies and her DH bought a condo in southern Florida when the market was down. Sadly, the DH unexpectedly died before they could spend time there together. (Some of you might recall that I flew down & helped her buy some furnishing & then drove home with her a couple falls ago). She has lots of family and friends who come down throughout the winter; so even though it wan't what she had planned, the condo has turned out to be a positive in my friend's life. Anyway, this fall she invited the Old Girlfriends to come down and spend a week, so of course, we are going!!! I checked and we are over 3 hours from Patoo and Sunshine, otherwise it would have been fun to try to get together with you guys. Maybe we will have to do a Florida Resort for our next year's BCO Road Trip! Wynham has lots of choices in Florida.........

    Good morning!

Karen- You must be so happy! It is great to find something that you have already written off as gone. Now you have your motivator back! My Fitbit does get me moving, especially when I am in a challenge with others.

Badger-Moving is so exhausting! You will need a vacation at the end of your move.

Scottie- I have a Fitbit Charge, but have been considering getting the Apple Watch. Thank you for posting the comparison, I will read it before shopping.

Twohobbies- It is hard to get the exercise in when you are not feeling your best. Good for you on pushing through!

Ruth- I too don't use all the features of the Fitbit. The sleep tracker doesn't seem accurate either. It must be great to connect w/ your teacher friends from your early career days. I bet you will have lots of fun in Florida. Keep us posted on all your outings, I am looking forward to hearing all about your fun

Yesterday I rode my bike with DH and walked at the trail. I had 11k steps according to my Fitbit. It has been summer like weather here, so I have been exercising outside. I am looking forward to another beautiful day!

I didn't mean to usurp anyone's identity....YIKES. Anyway, it would be worse if no one noticed.

I did the Undie Run yesterday, which was a lot more party than run. Lots of good eye candy too as the guys with great bodies made sure we all noticed. Fortunately, it was sunny for the run. I was decades older than most of the "runners" and some people were actually surprised that I was doing it. As this is the partying much more than the running crowd, I was actually in the first group of finishers.

    image

The course can be seen in the distance and went around the park (Lake Union) with the boats in view. It was fun seeing all the restored wooden boats, as I haven't been there in quite some time. Everyone loved my silk camisole/bustier, and some wore quite fanciful attire, including pink angel wings. The funniest was two guys in union suits with the "back door" open!

Later on, I went for a hair trim (which I really needed) and then to the wine bar as I hadn't been there in quite some time.

As for today, I was planning on skiing, but think I will get out on my bicycle as the Chilly Hilly is next Sunday, and I will be dead meat if I don't do at least some cycling prior to the event. I also have a much bigger report redo than I anticipated, so will need that time as well. Which means that I need to catch up on things around my place.

The redo, which is extensive, will mean additional billable time....so not the worst of fates.

If I do the run again next year, I am taking more clothes with me as was quite chilly for the rest of the afternoon. I didn't know that there were places to store a bag of clothing! So I just had a lightweight cycling jacket over the cami/bustier. I may have looked cool but I was chilled to the bone by the time I got home.

Which reminds me to dress warmly for this AM ride. - Claire

p.s. The shades were run "swag" and I now can see the party reflected in them. A really, really cool premium.

    Attawoman, Claire!

My triumph for the morning was finding the bookcase shelf hardware. Now I can put up the shelves and start unpacking books. That will free up a LOT of boxes.

Ruth, I haven't sent that Zumba DVD set yet but just found it LOL so will mail sometime next week.

    Hi all,

I saw a couple of people mentioned arthritis, and I have more than my share. My fall back exercise when nothing else works is swimming. It's been 3 months since BMX and ALND, so my choices are limited. Especially since I had to put off a hip replacement for cancer tx.

But when I get in the water, I'm in heaven

Plus walking back and forth (sometimes through the wind and rain) between the old place and the new place with cleaning supplies, bits and bobs I didn't have the time to pack, and several heavy cumbersome rugs! No way I would have been able to do that while having treatment or recovering from treatment.

One mile today. It is warm enough that I am sweating. Welcome to summer in the deep south.

Felt great to be back on the bike today.....UNTIL the promised rains came. So the first 15 or so miles were just great and there was even a bit of sun. However, I started noticing a bit of wind and then I noticed the clouds in my mirror Devil

It got worse. That pinging on my helmet was SLEET!!! Fortunately, my core stayed warm and dry, but I do have to say that my hot bath felt good. Fingertips are still a bit numb from the cold. Complexion looks wonderful from the sleet pummeling.

I ended up doing 26 miles on the flats, not bad considering my first time out in 2 months. - Claire

I was at the San Diego Padres baseball park today for a meet and greet the sportscasters for this season. One of themis Dick Enberg who was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame last year. I also saw a gal from when I lived in Cooperstown. I left there 52 years ago after I graduated from college. What a wonderful surprise.

Congratulations on your news Rhoddy. Claire you are a beast, you go girl. Penance that looks like a lot of hard work that you did. Lisa I just know how much fun you had today at the ball park, did Guitargirl go with you? PNY it depends on what you want out of the Fitbit, I have the HR as I like to see how hard my heart is working, I mean I feel it pounding but I like to look at that stupid number. Ruth you should do a half way meet up with Patoo 1-1/2 hours is a nothing drive, go for it, my gosh I drove 2 hours each way to dance for an hour on Friday night

DF I don't have arthritis BUT a couple of years ago I was on vacation and the first day I fell out of bed landed on my toes and broke 3 of them, I spent the whole week whining about how sore they were but my friends told me to suck it up - we were on a road trip and I was the back up driver, I spent my time in Charleston crying as they left me in the hotel while they explored boy did I give them a piece of my mind when I got home and had X rays and found they were indeed broken and because I hadn't strapped them they were already healing and now they throb and and bulge at the joint. My advice is to buy shoes with a wide toe box, I usually buy Easy Spirits not fashionable but practical and they have a lovely wide toe box.

Today did RPM and some dog walking.

hi all and good morning. Off work this week to get the old house ready for closing Fri. Plus my SIL is bringing mom & MIL here for a visit Sat so would be nice to have new place a little more put together. DH has today off as well so we'll be over there most of the day. Hope to have it DONE. Penzance, good luck with your move. Lots & lots of work. We didn't have to shampoo rugs as the new owner is ripping out the carpeting at old place and we put in new flooring here.

What fun we had in California last year, including a visit with the San Diego lunch bunch.

SoCal - looks like so much fun - I'd have been in heaven with all the baseball goings on! Ruth - LOL on the Thin Mints - those are my downfall as well. As for good athletic shoes with a roomy toe box - a lot of Saucony running shoes are available in a wide width and have a nice roomy toe box. Badger - great picture!

Took advantage of the 60+ degree weather Saturday to take a 4 mile walk around our community. There are tons of walking trails, but we're usually running so we don't get a chance to notice the grounds. It was nice to take our time to check out the ponds, little woodland paths, benches, gazebos, etc. We did that 5 mile road race on Sunday morning - it was a beautiful run along a country road, but I'd forgotten how hilly the course was. But I got through it, and the good news is that I finished 3rd in my age group!!!! (Of course there were only 4 of us in the 60-64 age group, but I'll still take my 3rd place age-group finish.) DH's big victory in the race was that he finally smoked the 85 year old runner who had beaten him in a 10K we ran in November - he'd been gunning for that old dude ever since that race!

Ruth: LOL! Someone back in the day earned the "Illusion Badge" when they named the cookies Thin Mints.

Badger: I bet you and your dh got a lot of work done today.

    Nats: 3rd Place! Woo Hoo!!!

Well, I think I caught Ruth's cold (no coughing, though) so I've been taking Echinacea with Goldenseal, Vitamin C, and Mucinex to combat it. Plus being very easy on myself.

Are any of the fitbits water proof. My usual exercise (before all this happened) was using the treadmill or elliptical then the resistance machines and some free weights. And doing laps in the pool. I would love to be able to wear one device for all.

Technically allowed back to the gym tomorrow to walk slowly on the treadmill and possibly go in the pool. No weights yet. But i did manage to do the laundry yesterday and wash down the counters. Until this all happened I took washing the sinks and counters for granted:)

Ruth. . .lol on the thin mints, who doesn't love them. Still don't have my cookie order. Nats kudos to your dh!

My free time what little I have for the next two weeks will be devoted to more cleaning and decluttering. Dd's BF is flying out from AZ to visit her and meet us a week from Sat. I am sooo not ready for this. Maybe I can just live at the gym while he's here.

At the gym feeding the Fitbit

Went to yoga & zumba, even though I shouldn't have because I am still coughing like crazy. Not a great way to start a trip , but maybe some warm, sunshiny weather will bake it out of me.

I don't know if any devices are waterproof. I will be curious if someone knows of one that is.

Not getting my 15K in.....having a hard time making myself get out of bed in the morning, so only getting a very short walk before work....Need to get back on track as I hope to motivate myself to loose 5#....had wanted to loose it before onc appt next month but when I looked at the calendar it is coming up in under 3 weeks, so that is NOT going to happen. Oh well...now if I would just cut out the junk food, I think I would be okay.

Winter is back...supposed to rain tonight then turn to snow tomorrow...Denver is only supposed to get a couple inches, but the mountains more. Lets see what happens. Morning commute should be fun NOT!!!

    Have a good night.

Hi all - been pretty AWOL for a while but wanted to mention that I wore my fitbit 24\7 until it wouldn't charge any more. When I googled what was wrong I found out that there had been lots of problems with the flex not seating well in the charging unit so I assumed it was a charging problem rather than wearing it in the shower.

I do keep up with y'all through my Gmail notifications. It's just that I spend most of my day in front of a computer and most nights the last thing I want to do is even more of that....sigh

Love to all the sculpted sisters

Hey Lisa, miss you good to see you I don't know if it's released yet but there was a waterproof tracker coming out called Moov. Scottie having visitors is always a great motivation to spring clean, the only time I wash my kitchen window is when company is coming Hope you're feeling better Wonderland, this cold is really going around from coast to coast. Ruth have a fabulous vacation.

Tonight went to Body Flow, it's been a long time and it sure felt good.

Mary, excellent time and 3rd. in your age group is very respectable, Claire, good job on your 5k and like the photos, Badger, sigh of relief to be fully moved, Wonderland, I'm ignoring my upper body blocked-up head, Cheryl, is this a LM bootcamp(?), SoCalLisa (BTW, thanks for Dick Enberg photo) & Decisions, I possess short wide duck feet and Under Armour & New Balance I've found have styles that are wide and comfortable. Decision, aqua aerobics classes would be ideal for osteoarthritis in your feet. Mat based pilates could be a possibility as long as avoiding any prolonged repetition or keeping you in one position for a length of time.

Over the weekend, was in Nottingham on a immersive teaching Tai Chi to Beginners certification course. Nottingham is a lovely city and the accent different to my ears. Our instructor was amazing, completely excellent in the Yang style she taught us. A true joy for me to observe her style of teaching and how she dealt with one particular prickly student and reining in a few who wanted to show-off and teach. Signed up for a course in May on Tai Chi for arthritis and falls prevention. Yesterday, was Pink Ribbon Pilates and my partner in that was who I was with this past weekend. We lesson planned on the long 4 hour slog drive home to Kent, and team taught what we learned. Nothing like jumping right in, keeping one form ahead of the class! The women enjoyed it, so we will keep it in the mix and see that how it pans out.

Waving across the channel at you HeidiHill and over and down to you Penzance.

Claire, I love the undie run stories!

Been laying low as weaning myself off the steroids and oral chemo has left me fatigued and nauseous.

I have been working out an hour in the pool most days. I designed an exercise "circuit" where I can work on my hand strength and I can take actual, if crude, strokes with my left arm. That was my big victory

Hey Lisa, good to see ya! Safe travels Ruth, enjoy your week in the sun.

Congrats, Mary, on 3rd place finish and yay for DH smokin' the old guy. I can relate! When I do 5K walks, I pace ladies with baby strollers. :-)

Got it almost done yesterday. Just need to finish the basement and garage. Weds DH goes back to work and I will channel my inner Merry Maid and thoroughly clean the kitchen & bathroom. Need to decide what to do with my old Motobecane touring bike, donate to Goodwill or spend the money to get it roadworthy.
