One year ago I went for my annual mammogram, I was called back for an ultrasound and then suggested an area of concern be biopsied. It was rough. The biopsy was long, once in they could not find the area. After about an hour the surgeon said after this attempt if we do not find it we will say it was a fluke. ?...soo they find it. In the process of probing me soo many times my breast was now full of lidocaine. That prohibited them from taking the follow up mammogram due to clouding. I was called days later and told it was Adenosis and benign, followup in 6 months with mammogram. Went in July, mammogram, results fine. I was told I would follow yearly mammogram plan. This brings us to last week , went for bilateral mrammo Wednesday. I was called Friday, for an area of concern and told I need an ultrasound. I am very worried. I feel lIke the original biopsy was not handled correctly, I felt like they were just grabbing something after not being able to find what they were going after. I was reading that after a diagnosis of adenosis they would not need to do another biopsy for something that looked the same? I really don't want another biopsy.

    Hi VAmomof3-

It's possible that with your baseline mammos and prior biopsy, your doctors don't feel another biopsy will be necessary, which is why they ordered an ultrasound. Perhaps ask your doctor what the next step would be should the ultrasound show suspicious findings. We would also suggest discussing your concerns about how yout last biopsy was performed with your doctor as well, as it sounds like your experience was really unpleasant! Hopefully the ultrasound is normal and no further tests are necessary!

I had my appointment yesterday for my ultrasound. The area of concern was not even the adenosis area from last year. It was a complex cyst that has jagged edges that looks concerning. I was told it is significantly bigger than before, thing is I never knew it was there previously. I was never informed. I have an appointment but not until March 11, for a needle aspiration with a biopsy. Radiologist said we cannot wait 6 months for re evaluation it is getting bigger. How concerning is this? Waiting 3 weeks seems like torture. BS is going on vacation.

It isn't very concerning. I think complex or complicated cysts only have about a 1.5% chance of being cancer. I had one. It collapsed with a few passes of the biopsy needle. Sclerosing adenosis is benign too.

Today I received a call from my BS office, my appt for March 11 has been moved up to tomorrow. I was told that she does not want to wait until she gets back from vacation to see me. I am really wondering what this could all mean? What else could this be other than a complex cyst?

I had my appointment with the BS last Tuesday the 23rd. She did do the needle aspiration with ultrasound guidance on the right breast. She said that it has septations and there was green material taken with the aspiration. The complex cyst collapsed while aspiration was taking place. She said that I do have dense tissue, sclerosis adenosis and PASH. I am to return May 20 for ultrasound to look at cyst.

Fastforward to Sunday. I have a pretty nasty yellow, purple bruise from the aspiration-so I am looking in the mirror and comparing my 2 breasts because of that bruise. I feel my left breast, under the areola at 12 o'clock I feel at lump about the size of a marble. I feel lIke 1/2 of it, it is not mobile, it's like it a dome like shape as if it fixed to the tissue or ducts. You do have to push down a little. I feel nothing similar on the right side. BS did a full exam feeling both breast at my appointment, had a mammo 2/10, only the right side was an issue for callback. She mentioned nothing else found on mammo. Could this just be something normal? I do not want to rush back in after just being there and no mention of the such.

    Thank you
