Hi all, wasn't feeling too energetic today but managed to do a 1 mile walk with Leslie Sansone this afternoon.

    Goodnight all.

    Hello everyone!

Ruth-Glad to hear that you are feeling better. It looks like the Walking Women have been having a good time.

DF- You are having a good recovery, it must be nice to get out again.

Patoo-You are staying active. I am going to try to get into some classes soon. The weather has been in the 80s here, so I have been walking outside.

Natsfan- A 90 minute yoga class is quite a workout. An early run on the weekend takes commitment for me if its on the weekend.

Hbcheryl-I do remember how bad the traffic can get in CA. When it rains, it just adds to the wait time. When I lived there I lived in HB, but I worked in Cerritos. The commute would be unpredictable when the weather changed.

Karen- I hope you get some resolve with your Fitbit. Mine has really helped me stay active. I have a couple of groups that I have challenges with this week. It keeps me motivated, as I am very competitive, it's just my thing

I have walked at the trail 3 times and the gym this week. It has been beautiful weather here, so I have enjoyed being outdoors.

Cheryl: We missed the bad weather but did have rain that turned into black ice at night. There were several, several accidents. Luckily we didn't have to go out for anything. The weather now is NICE!

Walked/ran late this afternoon. It was in the high 40s and the temps are expected to climb into the 60s this weekend.

Finally coming back to life after completing the marathon consulting gigs. Finished up the second big report on Monday. All I could do was stare at the walls, but did keep up the exercise. This from the Valentine's Day "Love 'em or Leave 'em" run. I tried lingering in the Tunnel of Love, but alas, that ratbastard Cupid was nowhere to be found!

    image

My friend Maddie and I eased into the event with a couple of Mimosas.  The heat lamps in the beer garden were quite popular.

I was the fitter one. At some point, Maddie asked me how old I am, and what I will say is that I am three decades older.

Cupid run on Saturday will be chillier. Plus I have to ditch the cashmere turtleneck and fleece tights! Hmmmmm.

A fun time. Then back to work. Still recovering, but made it through everything. And all my clients are happy with what I did. YAY!!!!

Time for celebration!!!  Still have 2 major presentations, but finished with the majority of the work. More to come.

Now on to training for the Chilly Hilly cycling event in 10 days. Think that getting on my bicycle might somehow be the first step...... - Claire

Annie...I think I'm going to get a Garmin. I miss the tracker as it is a motivator to get all my walking in....I know I've gotten to at least 10K daily this week, but short of my goal of 15K. The tracker is a real motivator.

The weather in Denver hit a record today, 73 degrees, just 2 degrees cooler than Miami. It will cool off a little tomorrow into the 60's and the next several days 50's. Not too shabby for winter in Denver!!! Finally with the warm weather all the ice and snow (even in the shade) has melted. But winter isn't over yet!!!

Claire - cute picture! Good luck with the run this weekend. Mysunshine - good thing you have Patoo around who can tip you off to secret things like the underground golf cart passageways! Reader - hope you feel better!

Thirty minute run on the dreadmill last night - I can't wait for it to get a bit lighter before or after work so I can run outside again. It's OK to run during daylight on the weekends, but there's just too much risk of black ice for me to feel comfy running in the dark.

Fun picture & a fun time, Claire.

Good Luck in the tunnels, sunshine.

Stay off running/walking where there could be black ice.....or any ice for that matter. Too risky!

I feel quite a bit better today, thank goodness. I will go to yoga at 9:00 & to school at 11:00, where I will sub in 7th grade history (my favorite subject). Hopefully my voice will hold out, as I am suppose to talk about the Missouri Compromise!

4 mile Leslie Sansone walk class this morning. Whew, you would think I'd be in better shape by now but these continue to make me push through to finish. May ride bike or (more likely) go sit by pool for a bit. Dinner out tonight with friends.

Will have to get over to mysunshine and show her how to navigate without getting run over by a golf cart going 20 mph (max legal speed).

    Later sculpted friends.

61 degrees Warmand super WINDY here. Went for a 71 minute walk around the lake with DH. Oh how I wish this was spring but it seems unlikely that winter is over.

It was an uncharacteristically balmy day here too (which means it was 49 degrees and sunny). Put on my oldest sneakers to dodge the puddles and took a nice refreshing walk after school.

Guess what I found!!! When I lost my Fitbit I had taken most everything out of the trunk so I could put the wheelchair for my mother in it. When I took the wheelchair out, I put my work stuff back in it. I am in my trunk almost every day!! Last Friday I took a test kit out, the same one I took out today and low and behold when I picked it up, there was my Fitbit!! How it didn't show up before is a wonder!! Needless to say I am very happy. It is charging as I write this. I can definitely say that my Fitbit and before the pedometer are a motivator for my walking. This week has only been average in walking, but I know I haven't met my goal. Now I can get back on track!!

Have a good week-end. Be back tomorrow night!!

Made it around the loop late in the day. That is one-half mile. It was easier today than yesterday, and I walked faster than I did then.

While walking, I saw a pretty baby calf brown and white mottled lying in the grass. Called out softly to it. The calf heard me and stood up on its sturdy legs.

In the backyard, growing up the fence, is the Confederate Jasmine already bearing fragile yellow blooms. A purple hyacinth is full and vibrant. The clump of small daffodill leaves near the back deck rises nearly a foot out of the earth. It has been a mild winter. We never had a hard freeze.

Brothers from the church picked up a new radiator today (we reimbursed them) and installed it in the car. The car is running again. Mom is still in the acute care hospital but off the room sized oxygen machine. She probably won't go back on chemo. Her time is probably limited but every day she is alive is a precious time.

I am hoping that the exercise gets easier and easier as I heal. Working in the yard and the garden can be vigorous. I especially need weight bearing exercise to maintain strong bones.

Karen: I can see you jumping for joy! I know you're relieved.

    Claire: Cute picture!

DF: Congratulations on your 1/2 mile! Way to go! Healing thoughts to your mother.

I didn't want to but I made myself go walk/run. So glad I went! I must not listen to that little devil, lazy talk.

Did 8500 meters on the rowing machine today. Trying to work my way up to do a half marathon challenge in May. Big ambitions! It seems that spring is really coming, it's in the 50's today, the birds have fat bellies with eggs and they are up singing early in the morning.

And I don't know if I told you this yet, I'm going to be a gramma! My first one, due early September (Labor Day????Winking)

hi all, quick post after catching up on everyone's news. Welcome the new ladies and congrats everyone on accomplishments including impending grannyhood. :-)

Move was successful and now surrounded by all of our stuff. Crazy-making that we have to live in chaos another week but job one is to get the old place empty and clean as we close Friday. That's my exercise for the weekend.

Spring is on the way, we're getting box elder bugs and snowmelt. No robins yet. ♥

TH I don't see Claire I see you so maybe problem resolved. Glad you move is done Badger. Wonderland good girl not listening to that naughty devil. Karen yay that you found your Fitbit, it's amazing how that little device can give us a 'push'

I am house/dog sitting for the next 10 days, they got a 3rd dog who is identical to one of their others and I keep calling the poor thing the other dogs name, darn I'm turning into my mother, she used to do that kind of thing all the time, and to make matters worse their internet is sketchy is keeps having to be rebooted and the darned cable is out, looks like I'm going to have an 'interesting' stay.

Last night drove down to San Diego with a group of friends to do a Body Jam filming and then this morning was invited to a Boot Camp, wish my Fitbit battery wasn't dead as I would like to see what my activity level looked like, it was hard but I did it and my heart was going a mile a minute. Heading out the door to start walking dogs, one by one so I'll get a few miles in this afternoon.

Congrats Rhody. Mysunshine, glad you found how the carts miraculously got to the other side. Now when I move into the house and you bike over you will know how as the path is on the other side of the road!

Bowling this morning was exercise and then walked around for a bit at an African American Heritage outdoor festival. Great day for it with high 70's and sunshine. Hopefully we are done with winter here. Snowbirds are definitely enjoying the pools.

    Later sculpted friends.

    TH, I don't see Claire's avatar!

Everybody, I have arthritis in the joints where my feet meet my toes. I don't know the name of these joints. Despite being legally disabled from fibromyalgia, I am am extremely healthy and now cancer free.

I MUST do vigorous exercise to stay healthy in my 60s. It is as important as drinking water. Does anyone else have toe joint pain from osteoarthritis. If so, how do you manage to exercise?

ruthbru, I was reading an AI thread and saw your hilarious post about seeing the woman in the car who was I believe overweight, drinking beer, smoking, etc.

Time for me to go outside and see how much exercise I can do today.

Congratulation, Rhody! All I have is grand-cats!

Badger, you will probably crash for a week once everything gets settled down!

TH, you look like yourself on my computer.

Sunshine and Patoo, I wish I would have had my phone when I was talking an early morning walk when I was in Arizona a couple weeks ago. There was a lady on a golf cart driving like a bat-out-of-hell.....she was wearing a full length winter parka with the hood pulled up and the fur covering her whole face. I was laughing so hard that I could hardly dodge onto the sidewalk to get out of her way.

Decision, I don't have arthritis in my feet. But I did break a toe years ago and it always hurts. I kept trying different brands of shoes (exercise & regular shoes too) until I found some brands that feel better and those are the only ones I buy and wear. So maybe trying out different brands of shoes might help. Oh yeah, I really wanted to smash into that lady at the stop light. (I had just finished a chemo session, and there she was just daring fate to strike her down....I am over it....sort of....now it just makes me very sad when I see people engaging in behavior which very likely will cause them health problems somewhere down the line.)

I had a really busy day so did the treadmill and half an hour of abs when I got up. I am now home briefly and then I'm off to watch some high school basketball games.

Yay Karen, glad you found the Fitbit.

Yah DF and mysunshine. I only average 7500 steps per day. Need to get that back up and up my weights and stomach crunches.

Congrats Rhody. I pray my kids will eventually leave my house and maybe give me a grandchild or two.

My exercise regime is shot to heck this week, long work hours and missed one of my gym days. Dh and I were going to hike today but it turned out gloomy and I was too dang tired. The light is shining at the end of the tunnel though and I'm at the gym tonight feeding the Fitbit.

Well that was bizarre but I was Claire for a while! I even went to my profile and another thread and there was her picture. I PMed the mods and I'm back.

DF I had RA, a very mild case but trouble nonetheless and I had trouble walking consecutive days for years. I would ride a bike one day, then walk the next. Now I don't seem to have as much trouble with the Ra or the feet. I agree about new shoes and they will wear out and need replacing sooner than you expect.

Karen, lucky you. I would have found my old fitbit about two weeks after buying a new one!

I went for a 40 minute walk despite not feeling like it. I really wore myself out yesterday so I was kind of sluggish today but we went out for a big brunch and it was so nice out again that I felt I had to get out..

It was finally warm enough for me to walk outside today (would have been even nicer if there was no wind) took a nice leisurely walk with my husband around our neighborhood. Was happy I felt good and did not tire throughout the walk. I am hopefully going back to the gym this week to use the treadmill on a low speed.

I see many of you have the fitbit. Thinking of getting one. I see there are many different models. Anything i need to know about it before buying it?

    Thanks Phyllis

Congratulations Rhody! Grandchildren are the best part of having children!!! I have 5 and am in love with each one.

No formal exercise today. My daughter is visiting and we went on a road trip for 45 minutes to find an Organic Hair Salon. I am 7 months PFT and am ready to go without my wigs, but needed some product to help with the cowlick that came with my new hair. Found something that works! I will be thinking about coloring in a month or two. Then, we enjoyed a late lunch and did some shopping. So, put in a few steps.

Rhody....Congrats on becoming a grandma soon!! g-d willing, one day my DD#1 will be blessed with children

PNY...there are several models. I have the Flex. When mine was lost I was thinking about getting a Garmin. It really depends on how many bells and whistles you want and how much you want to spend. The Fitbit Flex is pretty basic and I'm happy with it, but I'm going to go with a Garmin next. Amazon has some great prices on the older model.

PNY. . .if you are looking at the Fitbit you might want to wait until mid March. The new Fitbit Blaze will be released then. It has some functions similar to the Apple watch but is only $199. I currently have the FitbitHR and have preordered the Blaze. Can't wait.

I have the Fitbit Charge; I don't want a lot of extra 'stuff' to keep track of (I don't even use all the functions it has), so it suits my needs perfectly (plus, since it is more basic, the battery lasts a full week before it needs to be recharged).
