Hello everyone,

Last Friday I had a fine needle aspiration done on a mass I found. The aspiration came up empty...no fluid....not even a hint. I know that's really not a good sign but how bad is it. I'm no stranger to cancer I was DXed 2010 ( vulvar cancer) 2014 ( kidney cancer). My next app is on the 18. I really hate the waiting game. This is the longest I ever had to wait. Any help will be great

I am sure there are more knowledgable people on here to guide you. But from what I have read on FNA is that if no fluid is drawn then it is not a cyst. However 80% of lumps are what is called Fibroadenomas, these are solid masses, rubbery and round, some grow to large size, simple and complex are the two types (I will not go into detail over which one is which and why). But these masses (where there is no fluid drawn) are benign. I am sure the BS or radiologist can get a pretty decent gauge as to whether or not they think it is cancer by looking at a mammogram or ultrasound, but the only way to be certain is to do a biopsy, from there they can rule in and out fibroadenoma or other type of lump or mass. I have heard stories on here where the doctors in question will prep you and say prepare for cancer... Now I am not sure this is the norm, I would imagine most to not draw conclusions for the sake of the already panic stricken patients and will act calm and allow the results to come in before delivering any indication of news
