ML, sorry, I think I was writing and you were posting--didn't mean to step on your response!!! I'll bite on your "tricky" simple one.
1. Would it fit in a microwave?
-
Because I mentioned one of my favorite authors, I looked up James Alexander Thom and found he just released a new title "Fire in the Water" and have now just emailed my public library to find out why they do not yet have it in their collection!!!! I also tried to download audiobook copies of the two Thom books I mentioned earlier, but they were not available. I might just have to go back to my absolute favorite Thom book which is "Follow the River." It is riveting!!
Yes, if Queen is not a lawyer, she could be!!! That's a compliment Queenmom!!!
-
1. Yes, it would normally fit in a microwave.
edited to add the word normally.
-
2. Is the texture of the "thing" hard?
-
2. Yes, the texture of the thing is normally considered hard.
-
Chiming in after the fact but "Yes, I'm totally fine with MusicLover running the next game." (amused) Not a lawyer, though I have several in my family. Rather I was for many years a reference librarian at a public library--twenty questions isn't too far from what I did much of the time. Interesting expedition! But now thinking of how to answer questions that are, politely, open to interpretation. (What did Rose Wilder Lane do? is the wrong question, rather "What would we know her for today?")
3. Would you microwave it?
-
3. Is it involved in sports?
4. Does it require electric/batteries?
-
3. Yes, you could microwave it. (Queen is back asking the right questions once again!)
I won't count Ceanna's last 2 questions.
-
Thanks, ML, for ignoring my questions--I totally missed the flip to the next page and did not see Queen's question before I asked a couple.
4. Is it edible?
-
Queen, nice to see a fellow librarian on this thread!!!
-
Ahhh, two librarians!!! It is a conspiracy. I am reminded of a movie with Kathryn Hepburn and Spencer Tracy and she is a librarian and he is trying to sell the library a computer. She answers random questions that people phone in, basically the computer would replace her but she proves that she is faster at determining the answers than the computer is. I haven't seen that movie in years but I really liked it.
4. Yes, it is edible....this is going to be quick,
-
ML, interesting, I never heard of that movie before but now, after looking it up, I'm curious about the 1957 movie that deals with computers!!! Must be a hoot!!
Hmm, edible, normally fits in microwave, but hard??? Let me think!!
-
Found a link to the movie on YouTube and am now watching!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK3zmPUxblk
-
5. Is it some type of meat?
-
5. No, not a type of meat.
I think it is a computer, probably the Univac or something like that.
-
I haven't seen that movie in years. I just read that she is actually a researcher for a big TV network, I was close. It is a very cute movie IMO.
-
Hello, fellow librarian! (Is it a conspiracy? Do you really think we'd tell you if it was?)
That question about the microwave was kind of a a throwaway question, but hey, I'll run with this. I've known a few inquisitive preschoolers who would microwave stuff just to see what happened.
6. Is it hard when it comes out of the microwave?
-
6. I think that depends on how long you microwave it (ha!), but people would not prefer it hard.
-
Edible, not a kind of meat, soft(er) when it comes out of the microwave. ....thinking....
7. Would my doctor and/or nutritionist consider it a vegetable?
-
7 Is it sweet?
I'm still watching "Desk Set" and enjoying it. Yes, she's not a librarian by title but is a great reference desk person!!
-
7. No, not a vegetable (can't be or it wouldn't be a thing.)
8. No, not sweet.
-
I was thinking popcorn too ....hm
-
I am not giving any hints since we are only on #8...
-
Oops, happy finger.
9. Is this thing made from different ingredients?
-
9. It can be made from different ingredients.
I hope the no hints comment didn't sound too harsh, I just think that you are going to get this soon without hints.
-
Hoping to play Ducky's role here
10. Is it an egg?
-
Derp. Right--can't be a member of another valid 20-questions category.
And no, I wouldn't expect hints until we hit either 16 or thereabouts or were clearly going off on an erroneous tangent.
-
No hints expected and no you didn't sound harsh.
Kay, you know what happens when you try to microwave an egg? Hehe
-
10. No, it is not an egg.
-
Shucks! No I have no idea what happens when you microwave an egg. Are you talking about without taking it out of the shell? I have microwaved scrambled eggs a couple of times.
11. Is it a liquid?
