I recently felt small electric shocks on my left side at the neck and rib area. It came out of nowhere and the only time I have felt anything similar is under my left arm where I had lymph nodes removed during my mastectomy. Has anyone experienced this or have any thoughts on it? This is eight years after my mastectomy. Thanks!

Hi Joann and welcome to Breastcancer.org!

We know there are surely other members who've experienced this effect too. The boards are a little slow on the weekends, but someone will surely be by sometime soon to share.

Please continue to check in and let us know how you're doing. Hope you find some relief soon!

joannr, sorry your concern brings you here, but know the people on the boards care and want to give you virtual, gentle ((((((hugs)))))).

You don't mention if the "shocks" continued or were short lived. It sounds like it could be nerve pain, and I wouldn't be too concerned unless it continues. Nerves get aggravated sometimes for no good reason, or maybe some unusual movement set them off. I can have a shooting pain through my neck and left side when I reach just a little too far and pinch a nerve. If the pains continue, you might want check with a chiropractor or your medical doctor.
