Excisional biopsy done yesterday

Hi all,

My entire life my right breast has had an inverted nipple. My sister was diagnosed at 46 with BC 3 years ago. Since then I have had yearly mammos. Last year my PCP decided to send me to a BS to do follow-up MRIs. Last year something came up on the right side during my first MRI, which after an ultrasound, ended up being my nipple that was seen.

This year there was minimal parynchemal enhancement around it, so we decided to do an excisional biopsy (and fix the inverted nipple at the same time). Better to be safe than sorry!

Biopsy was yesterday, and besides itching like crazy and some minimal pain, I feel great! My BS doesn't seem too concerned about the probability of BC, but I won't get the biopsy results for another week because of the holiday.

What did you do for the itching?! Mostly it is centered on my nipple or right where the incision was made, and it is driving me nuts! I have this massive bandage covering my breast so I can't get to it.....

    Hi LavenderFox-

Welcome to BCO! We hope you find support here as you wait for your biopsy results. Regarding the itching, double check with your breast surgeon before removing your bandage or applying anything to the incision site. Itching on or around a surgical incision is fairly common, but it's always a good idea to bring it to your surgeon's attention before trying to treat it!

Keep us posted on your biopsy results, we'll be thinking of you!
