I don't ski but I like to watch ski races on tv. I'm okay at ice skating (I even took it as my PE in college) but I haven't been skating in over 10 years. I love watching it on tv. Well, until the skater starts skating backwards getting ready for a powerful jump - very nerve racking to watch!

My high school was newly created so I was a member of the first Freshman class. Each year another Freshman class was accepted until all 4 years were complete) My fun memory was that the nuns let us dance at lunch in the cafeteria (we did not have a gym) - this was in the 50's and we danced to rock and roll!

The dress I wore to Homecoming junior year. This was in 1983. It was black strapless lace with a sequin overlay, and a layered skirt. Many of my friends borrowed that dress for other dances, and now we refer to it as the sisterhood of the traveling dress.

Pearl Buck - The Child That Never Grew (I read this periodically; if you have a special needs person in your family or know a family who has such a member, Pearl Buck's words are comforting and understanding. She expresses much love throughout her writings.) The book is about 100 pages - sometimes I read it in one sitting.
For light reading I just finishing Last One Home by Debbie Macomber. Romance novel, realistic story, great book to read next to woodstove as temps here are going below "0". I'd rather read her books at the seashore!

I have many, many favorite poems. Here is just one that comes to mind right off the top of my head, by Leonard Cohen:

"Ring the bells that still can ring.

    Forget your perfect offering.

There is a crack in everything.

That's how the light gets in. "

    I'm nobody, who are you?
    Are you nobody too?
Then there's a pair of us
don't tell ! they'd banish us you know.

    How dreary to be someone.
    How public like a frog
to tell your name the live long day
to an admiring bog. Emily Dickerson

can we continue this theme (favorite poem) a couple of more times ??

    "Lean on the future. There

    if anywhere

    you walk upon the water,

All that was true at first

    is true at last

but there is no way back

    into the past.

    But through the future. There

    if anywhere

    the miracle must happen."

I have three types ideal vacations.....I love them all, but NEED the third one!

    * go some place with lots of historical significance and see everything humanly possible while there

    * go someplace with lots of beautiful scenery, hike around and see as much as possible of the area

    * go to the beach, walk in the sand, read a book under an umbrella, splash in the waves, eat seafood, and breathe

If I could spend next week anywhere I wanted, doing anything I wanted, with whomever I wanted.....this is what I would pick.......

Ruth, do you have a beach vacation planned? Please say yes.

As a matter of fact, I am going to Florida for a week on Tuesday! And, if you don't want to bring Brad Pitt to your island, I volunteer to take him off your hands!!

If I won the lottery, I would first hire a good lawyer! It would be very fun to give 'real money' to some of the charities and causes I believe in, and I would hire somebody to update my whole entire house & yard too, maybe travel more (and pay for my friends/family's tickets so they could come with me), see my family more (including my nephew in New Zeeland!), stuff like that.

One thing I would not change even if I did win the lottery is....
