    15 minutes - that's crazy! The lymph rids the body of toxins and helps the immune system. Both good to get cancer.

    I got my port placed today, so I talked to my BS beforehand. She started out thinking I didn't need anything other than the sleeve, but when I showed her my cording, she did say that she would get her nurse on finding an LE specialist covered by my insurance. My PCP is also looking, and she made suggestions to places that I can check on that would be more likely. She also manipulated my arm while I was anesthetized. I'm feeling much better about my situation now. Thanks for the support and the information.

    Oh, and by the way, I almost had to have a knock-down drag out with the nurse who put in my IV. Port went in on the right, LE effects the arm. He told me he couldn't use the right. Really, my hand should be no where near the clavicle. He tried to tell me it would be ok to put the IV in my left hand. I was even wearing the sleeve. I told him no, he could find another vein. I recommended leg, and he responded that it would need to go into the jugular. I think he was trying to manipulate me to accept an IV in the left. Little did he know, the jugular is a vet tech's favorite place for blood draw. I told him ok, and he said that only a doctor could put it in. I told him that would be fine, it's not going in my left. He left to 'check,' and when he came back he put it into the right hand.

    Of course, this begs the question- How much good will an LE medic alert bracelet be?

    Oh, and what would be a more active LE group here to join? Or is this the most active

    That thread is probably the most popular,,,, people do start new threads when they have a new question, or want to start a new subject.

    It's good to have a Medic alert bracelet, but there is no guarantee that people will honor it. There is one office that I go to where the nurse (tech?) tries to take my BP with my LE arm every time. You would think after the first refusal,, and seeing the sleeve everytime,, she would learn, but no. Some places are good about it,, but not all.

    I've been going to the same pharmacy for three years and I see the same clerk every time. Last time she asked me if I was a regular customer so I said I've been coming here for three years, don't you recognize me? Gee whiz

    I didn't even make the chart. I had BMX, SLN and RT. I guess it's high.
