Karen- I hope you hear back soon but the BBB purchase is a good backup plan.
I am a slug these days. This snow is not helping. Trying to get my motivation back.
Keep up the good work; hopefully I will hear the voices soon. I am supposed to run a 5k mid March...
-
Karen yes the One is a Fitbit it's a clip on, hope you hear from them soon. Ginger once the thaw starts you'll get back to it. Reader I don't know if you've seen the series Vera, its another British mystery series and it's really good. Mary hope your hazmat problem is resolved but what a nice bonus, love the pic. It's been like an Indian Summer here for the past few days and more to come, I'm actually using the air conditioning in my car, then I see the news and can't believe it's snowing on the east coast.
Last night did Body Jam and tonight did Body Pump and Zumba.
-
Glad I missed the puppymonkeybaby commercial. Everyone who saw it can't get it out of their heads.
New place is painted and tile is down in new bathroom, grout next. Carpet maybe today or tomorrow! DH lined up a crew of men with trucks for Monday so this weekend is the final push for Pack & Sculpt. patoo, how's your new house coming along?
Six-month follow-up app't with onc this afternoon.
-
It's snowing here, too, just in time for the coming ski break!
Good luck on your appt., badger, and hope packing and moving won't be too strenuous.
Lol on Dexter, BAU.
Went to a salsa class where we learned some rueda moves like in this clip.
-
Hbcheryl, I'll have to look up the show Vera. Thanks!
Badger, will be thinking of you today.
-
Badger - sounds like the new home is shaping up nicely. Bet you can't wait to have it all done. Good luck today with your appt.
Half hour dreadmill run after work yesterday.
-
Badger, house coming along. Haven't passed by in few days; maybe this afternoon. Last time kitchen and bath floors in but carpet not yet and nothing in kitchen. Closing is 4 weeks from tomorrow but they move fast so sure it will be done within next 2 weeks. Need to get window people in there to measure for blinds/window treatments and also a carpenter as I want the windows framed inside and maybe crown molding. Thankfully we had downsized before coming to FL. Will move unpacked boxes and bins ourselves and have a mover do the larger stuff probably around 3rd week in March.
Off to shower and then 2-hour Line Dancing class today. May also join Anytime Fitness under Silver Sneakers for these cold FL days (40's ).
Later sculpted friends.
-
Here we are walking inside but thinking spring!
-
Just did a 30 minute ab workout because I am skipping class tonight.
Good luck on your appointment, badger. I am having a DEXA & mammogram tomorrow (both routine). I plan to go to my exercise class, race home, take a very quick shower & drive all the way across town in the space of 30 minutes (to be there 15 minutes early for check in). Could be interesting, at least I won't have time to sit around and worry about it all morning!
-
-
Ruth, will be thinking of you tomorrow for for your appointments. Good you're keeping busy.
I've been taking it easy exercise wise due to a heel issue but back at it tomorrow.
-
Hi all! Been really busy lately so I had a few pages to read to catch up. There are SO many activities and exercise classes here it is a little overwhelming! You need to make a spreadsheet! So far I have done a low impact strength trainimg class and bone building with Patoo. Today, I went to Zumba. Loved it, so that will be a staple for me. I want to try a lot of different classes and see what works for me and my schedule.
Cold here, for Florida. Wind makes it feel even colder. I don't know how you all who live north get put in the cold. I must be a wimp! I want 70 degrees back. Luckily, it looks like that may be next week!
I like to power walk and ride my bike.
Looking forward to a mid- Florida BCO lunch on Saturday with about 10 of us!
-
mysunshine: Your lunch this Saturday will be so much fun!
Badger: Let us know how your appointment went today.
Ruth: Great picture and good luck at your appointments tomorrow. Let us know how they go. Did you tell dh about about your new bf?
Reader: May your heel heal quickly.
Hi All! Walked/ran this afternoon. Like mysunshine, I prefer the 70s but today it was mid 30s with a wind. It still felt fantastic to get outside and move!
-
Sunshine, you will have so much fun with the BCO sisters! Take a picture & post it here along with avatar names so we can enjoy it too!
Wonderland, DH is dating 'GYM' too......a love triangle!
-
Wonderland, you GO out there in 30 degrees! I am anxious to get back to my DVD routine. Thanks for your well wishes on the heel. I rested it a bit for 3 days and it is better. We'll see how it reacts to exercise tomorrow. With new sneakers and more padded socks.
-
Without my fitbit or pedometer not as motivated to walk...didn't walk after dinner tonight!! But I did walk in the morning and midday at work. Need to get back on track tomorrow.
I finally heard from Fitbit...They offered me 25% off a new one.....not much better than the 20% coupon at BBB. I wrote back and said I was disappointed and haven't heard anything since. If that is all they will give, I will take it....Someone told me they got 75%!!!
I have to brag....my daughter got her acceptance letter today to Yeshiva University, Stern College for Women. Now we have to find out about financial aid. i was hoping there would be an offer with her acceptance. The school is very pricey so she might owe a lot when she graduates!!! I knew she would get in as she has good grades and good ACT scores.
It was in the 60's today in Denver and going to be warm for the next several days. DD's friend is here from NYC and described Denver's weather as bi-polar!!
-
hi all, thanks for the good thoughts. Appt went well and I'm good for another six months. Was down 5 lbs since there last. Got a refill on anastrozole and will do another DEXA next year. He reinforced the need for weight-bearing exercise with the A due to increased risk of osteoporosis. He knows I walk and do yoga but also told him about all the cleaning, packing & moving. It's official, that all counts as exercise. Of course, we knew that already. ;-)
Took another carload of boxes over last night and put them into the basement, numerous trips up & down stairs. Then spent several hours putting new contact paper into kitchen cabinets. Bend, stretch, up & down stepladder. Didn't seem like much but was sweaty and tired by the time I was done at 9:15 pm (late for me).
Time for me to roll out and get to work. Have a great day ladies!
-
My mom and I celebrated me getting my staples out by taking a walk around the university botanical gardens. It was gorgeous.
Speaking of my mom, could you all send some good thoughts her way? She has her 6-month MO appointment today and we have no reason to expect anything bad but it's been a rough 2016 for my family
-
BAU - sending good thoughts your way and to your mom too. Beautiful picture - you look relaxed and smiling. Badger - hooray on the good onc appt. Karen - congrats on DD's acceptance!
Half hour of lap swimming last night after work. DH and I had the entire pool to ourselves for most of it. There were two lifeguards on duty, so we each even had our own lifeguard. DH called dibs on the cute young female lifeguard, but I was happy to be left with the cute young male one. Fortunately, neither one of us needed rescuing.
-
I've been walking 2 miles a day on the treadmill when it's cold out, trying to walk outside when it's warm out. A few months ago I would have snickered at a 2 mile walk, but then I broke my pelvis in 5 places. I'm almost recovered from that and going to have BMX on 2/25. In a way I feel like it's a waste of time to put all this effort into getting back in shape, because I'm just going to get deconditioned again after surgery. I know being in better shape going in will help though. Today I'm going to try increasing it to 2 miles twice a day. How long after BMX will I be able to start walking again?
-
Nats, you should have faked a water emergency to get him to rescue you (altho with my luck she would have jumped in first!)
Badger in another month I will also start taking boxes over but they will have to go into the garage since we don't have basements here. No stairs for us elderly folk!
Stacey, your surgeon will probably let you know how long you will be restricted but please take it easy as you don't want any setbacks. You will get to the point of full routines so don't push too much.
Karen, congrats on DD acceptance. I don't think the colleges give financial aid on acceptance because they then usually have to get financial info from the FAFSA, tax returns, etc. Does she know her field of choice yet?
BAD, prayers sent up for your mom.
Looking forward to joining mysunshine and the Orlando ladies on Saturday.
3-mile WATP with Leslie Sansone class this morning. Great workout.
Later sculpted friends.
-
Badger & Ruth congrats on the good follow-up reports and Badger you really seem like you have the move under control. BAD sending good wishes to both you and your Mom. OMG Wonderland brrrrr. Karen big congratulations to your DD. Stacey yes your surgeon will tell you when it's okay to start exercising after your BMX and walking is excellent and for now keep at it because the better you are prepared the easier it will be to come back once you're cleared, your muscle memory will kick back in quickly. Ruth how can Gym be your BF cause I'm having a relationship with him as well but I'm also seeing a guy called Ben Gay
Last night did a Spin class.
-
The Gym and Ben Gay jokes remind me of an old joke my mom used to tell:
At a women's club meeting two members were asking about an absent member. One woman explained, "Oh, she's in bed with arthritis and can't come today." The other woman replied, "Well, that Arthur always was the worst of those Ritis brothers!"
-
What a pretty picture, bad. Hope everything is good with your mom.
Badger, whoo hoo on the checkup. Moving is TOTALLY exercise, as is house remodeling!!!
Hi Stacey, any exercise you do now will help you bounce back faster after surgery.
Karen, congratulations to DD! An exciting time of life for the whole family!
That Gym sure does get around. Although is this case, it is a good thing & the more the merrier!!!
Went to my Cardio Sculpt, got showered, into makeup & across town in record time. I won't know the DEXA results until they are read by the doctor, and officially I won't know the mammogram results until then either. But the technician said, "I don't see anything here that makes me want to take more pictures" and let me look at the 3D images with her. I will tell you that 3D mammograms are amazing; they take 55 layers and so can scroll down through the layers and see if a dark spot is blood vessels connecting, scar tissues, or whatever......she said that nationwide, 3D has picked up 40% more of early breast cancer tumors than the regular mammogram does. So if you or any woman you know is getting mammograms, you should absolutely find a place that does the 3D. I don't get too excited about 'advances in medicine' because they are often mostly hyp. But this is definitely a good thing. Anyway....off my soap box......I think I am in the clear but will wait for the official word before I celebrate too much (although I did have a McDonalds fish sandwich and fries for lunch instead of something virtuous).
-
Yay Karen on your daughter's acceptance!
Nats, what a cute story from the pool!
Speaking of the pool, I got cleared for swimming so I finally got in today. I mostly just walked around and worked on moving my arm against the water. I have the double whammy of nerve damage from sx and LE (which I had been desperately hoping was the cause of my arm symptoms in the first place) so my left arm is fairly useless. But, baby steps. With persistence and hard work, I'll get my swimming ability back.
Oh, and thanks for the good wishes for Mom. Her bloodwork came back fine, although she still has the onc meeting next week (for some reason he likes to do bloodwork ahead of the appt)
-
Lonnnng hours at work again this week 10-11 per day. Tele working tomorrow in between mine and ds's doctor appts. Then tomorrow night I have the honor of photographing our local Night to Shine Prom sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. Very excited and hoping my energy holds out until I get the photos edited.
At the gym feeding the Fitbit.
Scottie
-
Karen: Congratulations to your dd! How exciting for her!
Badger: Yea on your appointment! Almost in your new home!
BAU: You're beautiful.
Nats: LOL
Ruth: I haven't had a 3D mammo but maybe next year I can.
Scottie: Tomorrow night sounds like so much fun! Hope you're not too tired to thoroughly enjoy it.
Good evening. Walked/ran this afternoon. Also included floor exercises.
-
Mary I hadn't heard that one before and it's a good one. Scottie your project for tomorrow sounds like so much fun. Bad congratulations on being cleared and yes take baby steps, you'll get there.
Well right now my Fitbit says I've done 22,328 steps, they even sent me an email telling me I was an overachiever but here is my confession, I haven't done those steps. Today at work I had to inset 8000 tithe envelopes into a larger envelope for one of my clients so I was doing a lot of arm movements and all of a sudden I got that tingle on my wrist to tell me I'd reached my goal but I'm going to take credit as I forgot to wear it yesterday so my count evens out
Tonight went to Body Pump then out to eat Vietnamese food after class!!!!
-
Hmmm, so I can sit in my lounger, swing my arms and get my steps in. Hmmmm, sounds like a plan (not!)
-
Badger, great news on your 6 month checkup! I am sure you and Patoo are so excited about moving into your new homes soon!!!
