I am 34 and had my first mammogram on Jan 26. There were some concerns and I had another mammogram and an us that same morning. The radiologist told me I had 2 egg shapes spots that seemed normal but that one spot in my right breast was shaped differently and appeared to have things growing off of it. He said it was a 2 in 5 chance it was breast cancer. I had a biopsy done the next week and it came back benign! The radiologist wants to see me again in 6 months. My doctor called me today and said I have a scleratic fibroadenoma and she is recommending I follow up with a surgeon. The tumor is 15mm long right now. I can't find a lot of information on what my doctor is telling me it's called, but regular fibroadenomas seem to be normal and unless causing pain or some other symptom, are fine to leave alone. I made an appt for a consultation with the surgeon for Feb 26, but my question is why should I have it removed? Its not causing any pain right now. But is it better safe than sorry? Can these tumors turn out to be bc? Or make it more likely that I get bc in the future? I just don't know where I should go from here...

From what I read, sclerotic stroma or sclerotic fibroadenoma can possible be or be related to a radial scar lesion. Radial scars are usually removed. I ghink they have a low incidence of cancer, so it very well may be a "be on the safe side" just to be sure situation
