Hi TN's. My question is did all of you have your ovaries removed or have many of you done the every 6 months transvaginal ultra sound and ca-125 blood work?

Thanks

G

Do you mean the TN patient's who are BRCA positive? My doc's never mentioned getting any of this. I'm BRCA negative, so maybe that's why??

    Hey Luv

My friends oncologist is pushing her to remove her ovaries. She is BRCA 1. She has not had any children yet and would like to try for a baby after having had treatment for breast cancer, TN like us. I was trying to see if anyone did this or does everyone that's BRCA 1 get ovaries removed?

    Hi,

My oncologist said he would remove mine and then I started A/C chemo and went through 2 rounds and we asked him when I was going to have surgery and he said he thought that the chemo would kill the ovaries. I have a Pet scan in the morning and meet with my oncologist on Wednesday so I'm going to ask him if my ovaries got fried or not

How did your scan go? How are doing with chemo? Please PM if you need anything. I started chemo when I was 3 weeks postpartum.

    Many prayers.

Yup, I had my eggs harvested prior to chemo. They are currently cryogenically frozen in a fertility clinic. It's a good choice if you are thinking about it. I'm 33 and am considering a family in the future.

    Lots of love

I am (was!) triple negative and BRCA negative. I had my ovaries and tubes out Oct 15. My grandma died of ovarian cancer at 50 and although genetic testing found no specific correlation, they do believe there is something genetic going on. Likely something yet to be discovered. I wasn't taking any chances. Luckily, being TN allows me to take bio identical hormones so I'm avoiding all the health risks associated with no ovaries. I'm very happy with my decision

I'm so glad I found you all. I finished chemo Labor Day weekend. Had a gyno appt and said I'd like my overies removed. I am TN, and BRACA negative. My mom had bc and then a year later, uterine cancer. No chemo, just the surgeries. So, I want to be pro active. My problem is this.... I live in a small city. My cancer doc says I don't need overies removed. I just had a general surgeon, who I love. He said if gyno says remove overies,do it. So, I met with him and he scheduled it. Insurance declined paying so it was cancelled. Now, I just got a call, insurance will cover it. Now I'm confused and having an anxiety attack and can't stop crying.... I do this a lot... I'm so confused and don't know what to do.... Help ????

    Thanks, Ruth
