Tamoxifen and post menopause

I'm taking Tamoxifen instead of an AI because of bone density scan results not being the best numbers.

Because I am post will I expect to have the hot flashes that pre-menopausal experience.

I cruised through menopause with no problems. And I have a husband that is always cold and wants to use an electric blanket into July. So it may be difficult to distinguish hot flash from electric blanket overlap.

you may not experience hot flashes or other side effects, mine were just a continuation of menopause misery- nothing more nor less. with regards to satisfying your husband's desire for an electric blanket in July - hot flashes at night are not usually dry, they could provide him something like a steam heat experience? hopefully you will sail through this and neither of you will notice much of anything!

I was switched from Arimidex to Tamoxifen by my medical oncologist because I had horrible insomnia and capillaritis (my right leg). Like cjafarm, I breezed through menopause about fifteen years ago. I've wondered if I developed BC because my body was still producing enough hormones to fuel the cancer cells - and that was why my menopause was so easy. I did have a hysterectomy in my mid-40's but my ovaries were still in place. Now I find myself sticking my feet outside of the blankets when I get a flush at night and I cool down.

Grammakathy, Very interesting idea about the body still producing enough hormones. I think I'll try to find some journals that discuss extra estrogen and menopause. I'll let you know if I find anything.

Thank you cjafarm. I had few contributing factors: never smoked or took hormones. My mother had a small cancerous lump removed at age 80 but because of her age, the doctor said it didn't increase my chances. I had children in my 20's and breastfed. I was fifty pounds heavier before my diagnosis and the decision to lose weight when the MO told me that extra pounds had estrogen in them that could feed cancer cells.
