Pain near lump area and on edge of underarm (IDC)
Ok, I have searched all over forums and internet. Nothing seems to be out there regarding pain BEFORE any treatment or surgery with IDC. I have pain coming from the lump, near the underarm, in the arm, and just last night when I slept on that side my left arm and left leg fell asleep. All this started a week after I was diagnosed. The closest thing I came to on the internet is paresthesia. When there is pressure imposed on a nerve causing all these symptoms. Still waiting on HER2 and FISH tests. No results on how fast this thing is growing or what stage it is in. I'm getting worried now. Consult with the surgeon on Feb 10th. Have not had an MRI done. I am currently being treated by the Veteran Med Center. So far they have been really good with my previous health issues no complaints. But I wonder if they are taking their time on this one. Anyway, does anyone know if a cancer center would be faster in getting the process done from diagnosis to treatment?

isnogard, I am so sorry you are going thru this. You are smack in the middle of the most stressful time ...the time from diagnosis to the starting of treatment. I was the same way, nothing moved fast enough. It sounds like you do have a good team on board, that is a big positive. I am sure you will feel better after your consultation with the surgeon. To answer your last question, I am not familiar with other centers outside of my area, sorry. I hope you do get some other responses and info. I know some conventional wisdom about breast cancer is that it does not hurt...I did not find that to be the case. My cancer is Inflammatory Breast Cancer, IBC, and there was pain/soreness in mybreast, and under my arm, lymph nodes. I read once IBC is like IDC on steriods, and amped up version of IDC...so maybe you too are feeling this pain from the cancer, and of course it is causing concern and anxiety. Please try to relax, and after you see the surgeon next week, if you still feel like things are moving too slowly, ask for your team to speed things up for you. They can fast track you if necessary and sometimes we get more action if we press. But my advice is to try to relax. I believe all things are better approached from a place of positivity and calm determined energy. I hope this helps, that is my intent, My wish is for all the best for you, of course

Hi. I am assuming you had a biopsy? I had a core needle biopsy and it was pretty invasive. It resulted in a rather large hematoma, bruising, and pain for many weeks. I still have soreness around the entry site of the biopsy as well as soreness under my arm and occasional arm pain and general pain in that breast area. I think it is just healing nerves from having the biopsy. I had inflammation (swelling) as a result that has taken awhile to calm down. Anyhow, just throwing that out there in case it could be the reason. I can not sleep on either side. My arms fell asleep prior to diagnosis if I did. So, I can not say that has happened because I have to sleep on my back anyhow. Definitely talk to your surgeon about it. Welcome! You will find so much support and information here.

So glad I could help. Keep us posted

ayr1016, yes I had a biopsy on Jan 20, 2016. The bruise took a while to heal. But I'll tell my doctor about the pain because the bruising is gone and my lump felt like it went down in size since the biopsy. Maybe it was inflammation. Thanks for the info.

Okay I learned that I may have cancer in the lymph nodes. This could be my source of pain because the node isn't functioning properly.

yes, this would be the case. Are you getting a treatment plan yet? Hang in there, hugs to you. Just know you can fight this and win.

Hi, I had a core needle biopsy 10 days ago. Today my lymph node under my arm on the same side as the biopsy is swollen and tender. It was normal before the biopsy. any clue?

Naward, it can be many reasons, may I ask what were the results of the biopsy?
