Ketogenic diets

I have never wanted to be on this "team" but hello team. I am 51 and was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma on 1/26/16. I am stage 1 grade 2 and triple negative. My mass is 1.7 cm. I also did genetics testing for the breast cancer mutation gene which is pending.

I have a PET scan scheduled for 2/9/16 and I have elected to have bilateral mastectomy which is scheduled for 2/12/16.

My question to you all is has this society heard of the Ketogenic diet and has anyone tried it? I heard cancer cells love sugar.

Hi, I was just diagnosed IDC triple negative on New Year's Eve. I asked to talk with the dietician at the oncology department where I am getting treatment. She recommended that I go on a low-methionine diet specifically for the triple negative cancer. It's basically vegan.

There's not a lot out there on it yet, and she even talked about how new it is, but I'm willing to try anything to help. It will be low fat,low sugar anyway since it's mostly plants and no animal products. The only fats would be nuts and such.

I have read more studies on low fat diets for triple negative too but I figured I would give the diet the dietician recommended a try and see how it goes.
