Dx in Aug '06; age 47, about 6 weeks away from turning 48. Medullary cancer, Stage II, grade 3, 6mm, ER/PR+, Her2nu-, no node involement. Lumpectomy, then re-excision for margins, radiation, Arimidex. Had already had a complete hyster - uterus, ovaries, tubes, cervix - a year and a half prior to dx; took Premarin briefly but stopped on own.

Lousy family history - breast ca x 2, mother died ovarian ca, lots more cancer in family.

This was scary at first; now it's ho-hum, get through it, and get on with life.

I was diagnosed 08/30/06. I am 26 years old and have a 4 yr old daughter and a set of twins (boy/girl) that turned 2 on my diagnosis date.
Unlucky to have breast cancer at such a young age, but lucky that I decided to be a mom at an early age and not have to worry about those problems now.

Dx at age 30, would have been 29 if they discovered the tumor when they did my first mammo. Found it myself 7 months after being given a clear mammo. Had lumpectomy and SN disection(nodes clear) in August, started chemo in September(6 rnds of FEC 100); radiation (6 weeks)should hopefully start in February. I have a 4 yr old son and plan to be around to see his children!

was diagnosed on 1/1/06 and had a bilateral mastectomy on 10/18/06..my 45th birthday. My youngest is 9. My heart goes out to you with little ones, I look back on those days when my kids were young and I wonder how I did it, and I was healthy! I hope that all of you will take the time out to find happy moments, even if there is a sink full of dishes, baskets of laundry and piles of clutter.
    I hate this disease too!!!

I had mamogram April 4, 2006 because I felt the lump. Had lumpectomy and then a mastectomy on my 49th birthday on April 20, 2006. I remember the surgical nurse asking when my birthday was.......and I said.....It's today...lucky me!

My invasive ductal cancer was 2.85 cm, grade 3, ER+PR+, no nodes involved. Was scheduled for 6 rounds of TAC, but made it through only 4 rounds. I reacted to the Taxotere on first chemo infusion......then they challenged me the next day....slow drip. By 4th chemo treatment someone decided to give my entire TAC treatment in 3 1/2 hours. One week later I was in the hospital for sever fluid retention and small bowel obstruction. I was released and then 3 days later back with hospital induced pnuemonia. Will start Tamoxifen in November. Mother was diagnosed with BC when she was 69 years old. No other known family members with cancer. My five sisters and many nieces sit in fear.

    Diagnosed at 39. I'm now 43.

Many people commented on how young many of those were at diagnosis. It's definately an eye opener for those that still think breast cancer only happens when your older (in fact, if anyone ever says that to you, point them in the direction of this thread!). But a reason why it seems the younger women out number the older ones could be because perhaps older people aren't as computer saavy and/or just don't post to message boards? just a thought.

I'm a 36 yr old stay at home of 2 girls (10 and 4)-- i found my lump myself by complete accident (more like a gift from God) in June the weekend school got out for my oldest- that was a Sunday(6/11 to be exact)-- i went to local health dept on Tues (6/13) and from there was told it was very common for someone my age to have a simple cyst-- she made an appt for me to have a mammagram at the breast imaging ctr - that was on 6/15 -- i had the mammagram, ultrsound and a needle aspiration-- was told firmly that it was ONLY a simple cyst but they would send it to pathology and to call back the following Fri which i did-- they affirmed once again that it was NOT cancer and to come back in Dec for a follow up mammagram-- FORTUNEATLEY, the nurse at the health dept also had made me an appt. with a breast surgereon-- i contemplated cancelling it but thought i needed to see him to find out about having it removed--

Long story short-- my films were never sent to the breast surgeon and they postponed my appt so that there was a month between the 2 appts.--i finally got to see the breast surgeon on 7/19-- he aspirated again being that it never collapsed as it should have-- that pathology came back with atypical cells-- by then i was pregnant-- went in for an excisional biopsy on 8/10-- still i was sure it would be negative-- i remember sitting there in utter belief on my 8/16 appt confirming i had BC and that i would need a modified radical mastecomy--they were going to decide my treatment based on my pregnancy-- my surgery would be on 9/26 but by 9/9 i miscarried and lost my baby at about 2 months-- that was a TOUGH blow physically and mentally-- i moved on well thru surgery and started chemo on 11/2-- now off and on i have depression set in but overall i think i'm doing well-- the support of the bc sisters here and other support has been a tremendous benefit for me-- thank you bc sisters! (sorry, my post is so long)

I was dx on 9/13/06, just 2 days after giving birth to my 3rd child (I now have a 2 mo old boy, 2 yr old girl and a 4 yr old boy). I started chemo on 9/25/06. Don't know the size of the tumor but there are lymph nodes involved. My surgery is scheduled for Feb/Mar. I was 33 yrs young...just prematurely balding!

42 when diagnosed oct 06 with stage 1 IDC. Mammo showed nothing, ultrasound found lump that I had brought to their attention.
Noticing too many young women showing up here. Somethings wrong with this picture? and I don't think it's just because of better diagnostics.
Something has to be triggering this? I noticed a report in the Palm beach post yesterday indicating that a study has identified a link between hormone receptive BC and red meat consumption by women in their 20's, 30's.
    Just a thought.....:)

I was 2 days short of my 57th when they went in to biopsy and then immediately did my lumpectomy. My birthday present (on Friday, the 13th!) was the pathology report that said that no segments or lymph nodes were involved! Mine was found during a routine mammogram and was so small that even when the radiologist was using ultrasound, she could not feel it. So I was one of the very very lucky ones.

I found a lump 4/06 and was diagnosed 5/1/06 and turned 52 in August. I had a mammo done 8/05 - benign findings - come back in a year. I had lumpectomy 5/5/06 with a negative SNB and was told Stage I, would only need radiation. Six days later final pathology showed the tumor to be much larger and very aggressive. Still had 2 margins that weren't clear, mastectomy 5/26/06. A large mass was found on my kidney during routine scans prior to chemo, doctor doesn't believe it is cancer, described as a large, calcified mass. Developed hypercalcemia during chemo, having tests to rule out bone mets this week. Finished chemo the end of September and have been on tamoxifen for 6 weeks now.
