I spoke at length with a local dispensary owner and she's a 9 year cancer survivor! Anyway, she was very informative about what products I should be using. I'm a little leery to begin right before a hip replacement surgery. But afraid of what the stress to my body may do in activating cancer cells. My BMX wasn't even 4 months ago.

So a friend and I are going to the coast and will pick some up on the way next week. She's action packed with chronic pain problems but has little experience with MJ, so I want to be with her. We forget all the wonderful advantages of living on the West coast.

Good for you Leslie I am unfortunately not surprised by the lack of interest in this particular thread. New information is coming out daily and yet it's ignored. So sad I hope in the near future this drug can get a new slate and be accepted for what it can do for us.

Thanks Wendy for the reply and Chelle for the documentary link which I'll watch. I'm actually quite surprised that there isn't more interest in this thread, but maybe that's because I'm in Colorado. haha At any rate, I'm glad to see it. Thanks again for all the info.

    Wendy3--Here's what you do:

    1. Go to My Profile (upper right)
    2. Click tab My Diagnosis (it's easy buttons you check off for your dx)
    3. Click tab My Treatments (same as dx)
    4. Then click on tab Setting. You can click on and off visible or private the info you wish to show or be private. Further down in Settings is a section called Treatment and Diagnosis Privacy Settings and it shows you what your auto Signature will show. If you missed something or don't want something to show go back and change the setting.

    Hope that helps.

I have some concerns about marijuana in combination with tamoxifen. We have all been told not to take certain drugs such as Paxil and Prozac with tamoxifen because they (and a long list of other drugs) inhibit CYP2D6. CYP2D6 is the enzyme primarily responsible for the breakdown of tamoxifen into its active metabolites, and interfering with that conversion can reduce tamoxifen's effectiveness (here is BCO's article on the subject). THC and CBD both inhibit CYP2D6, with CBD being a much stronger inhibitor than THC.

Cannabidiol, a major phytocannabinoid, as a potent atypical inhibitor for CYP2D6

I always hate to post something like this that might burst someone's bubble, but since I've been doing the research I kind of feel responsible to share the information with people who might not know, because it's something that should at least be considered. Medical marijuana helped get me through the stress after diagnosis, through the surgery and waiting for the Oncotype, but I've given it up until I'm off the tamoxifen in two years and onto AIs. I don't think occasional use should be a problem, but daily use is more risk than I'm personally willing to take at this time.

I’m on letrozole, not Tamox. Up till now, I was hesitant to ask any of my docs to sign an app. for an MMJ card as even though cancer is an eligible disease, I wasn’t having pain or chemo nausea (no chemo). But now I’m getting pretty severe LE/cording pain, and can’t take the usually-prescribed NSAIDs due to chronic esophagitis (and a small gastric ulcer I got three yrs. ago from NSAID use). Has anyone here had MMJ lessen lymphedema pain?

Solfeo thank you thank you the more folks that research and learn what we can is great. I have been getting a lot of messages from woman afraid to post on here so thank you for that too. I have been doing to CBD at this dose since October. That's the time when I noticed I started to feel better, started gaining weight back , more energy etc. I think all will be revealed on February 12 during my pet scan. My oncologist wants to know what going on. I was prescribed 20 milligrams of tamoxifen daily lately I have been dialling that down to 10 because I hate this pill. I'm not crazy though it may be what's working and I may be way off. My oncologist is stumped and that's I think a good thing. I take 100 milligrams of CBD a day and a lot less THC around 20. I also totally changed my diet no refined sugar no red meat no dairy. Juicing everyday and exercising everyday these things may be helping as well.

Cancer is like a forest fire ...would you send in just one truck?  Someone said that to me recently and I agree. Chelle as far as I know is having success with the CBD as well.

ChiSandy sorry lymphedema pain I'm not familiar with so I couldn't say. Just try it I would imagine it's healthier than a lot of pain killers.

Hi ChiSandy, I have had 3 breast surgeries in all and every time I end up with significant lymph node cording down my arm. The last time the cording went all the way to my wrist. Fortunately, physical therapy (light lymph massage/drainage) took care of the problem every time. So, I highly recommend physical therapy, if you haven't tried it yet. Best of luck! Theresa

Hi Wendy, I'm curious - is your oncologist. Stumped because she doesn't know you're on the CBD and THC? How do you know what quality you're getting. It would be nice to feel good - does it work for muscle stiffness and muscle pain

Hello Marijen my oncologist is aware that I'm doing MJ therapy but she is not interested in hearing anything about it. She said she is stumped because I've had stage four cancer for eight months and am still doing okay. I don't know what the time line is for this stuff so I am kind of winging it here. I just want to use all my options. As far as the quality of the product I think that is easier in the US because it is so closely monitored . Here in Canada I've come to trust my dispensary as most of the folks working there are sick as well so they have a vested interest in the product. It gets rid of all muscle pain I have really bad knees and I've had no pain in awhile.

    Thanks

Therese, I've been taking LE physiotherapy twice weekly for three weeks (doing self-MLD on non-therapy days as well as remedial exercises), and still progressed from stage 0 to stage 1 LE plus confirmed cording. Today I got authorization for six more sessions. IL now has about 20 med-mar dispensaries, but it still takes several months to get a card and not many doctors are willing to sign applications--seems most still think it's appropriate for only chemo nausea, glaucoma or chronic pain not relieved by NSAIDs or opioids (even though there's a long laundry list of statutorily-eligible diseases including cancer in general and fibromyalgia). There's still a lot of moralizing among the medical community.

Wendy thank you, I wonder how much 100mg CBD is and the 20mg THC The CBD comes in pill form? What about the other? I have knee pain as well. Finger joint pain is almost scary when I wake up. Does it get you high? I'd rather it didn't

From what I understand the CBD doesn’t get you stoned. If I can get my MO to sign off on an application for me Thurs., I will ask the dispensaries around here whether the CBD oil comes in vapable form. None of the Chi. area dispensaries carry the pills or edibles, AFAIK.

I'm not quite sure how I arrived at this particular post, but I'm certainly delighted that I did! On my first visit with my MO, I made the mistake of casually inquiring how he felt in general about medical marijuana (MM). I live in CT where MM is legal. He said he didn't think it was legal in CT! I said it was but then I realized that I didn't know this person at all and I didn't want to get into any sort of pissing contest with someone who was going to be suggesting potential life saving/altering treatments for me. Sooooo, that pretty much forced me to seek out a state registered MM doctor, who turned out to be a sweet, enthusiastic and caring person. He asked me why I felt I needed it and I told him the truth: it helped to soothe anxiety and combat insomnia. He thought that I would be a good candidate for MM based on those two needs. Furthermore, he was very interested in the potential role that CBD may have in fighting off cancer cells. It took two weeks for me to receive my temporary MM certificate and I haven't looked back. I use a vape pen for the CBD oil, which is non-psychoactive. It offers a calming and relaxing feeling that sort of gently washes through your body. It's really wonderful and helps reduce stress and certainly helps to induce satisfying sleep.

Junipercat that's so great I'm glad you found someone who is more on your wave length. I've had some very interesting conversations with doctors regarding MJ. Most I find know nothing about it which I am stunned with. Vaping is one way to get it into our system which is good. Apparently smoking isn't the best way to get the CBDs .

ChiSandy you are also right CBD does not get you high just the THC does. I get the CBD in capsule form I also select the strains that have the higher percentage of CBD which is the indica strain to make my edibles. Making Cana butter is very easy then you just bake whatever you like. You tube has many different videos on the subject.

Marijen that's four capsules each 20 mg spread out through the day THC I take pheonix tears oil at night either in a dropper or in a capsule. This makes you high but if you take it before bed you will have no issues other than amazing sleep. I did go and purchase a bong (I know) so I do smoke for pain management. If you are concerned about getting high get a strain that has a lower THC level they have  these options out there. I find this works best for pain. It's all about the dosage like anything else , too much and you will be high the right amount and you will feel euphoric and be pain free. It's all about finding that sweet spot with your dosing and that is for each person very individual.

I am very curious about my upcoming scan next week. So I was told in June that I am stage four metastasis to T2 and one rib. I did not have surgery I still carry the tumour in my right breast. It has gone from four cm to 2.1 cm. now this could by all accounts and purposes be due to the tamoxifen I'm on. Have to say that I have cut my dosage from 20 mg to 10 mg because I don't like the se I have been experiencing on this drug. Didn't tell my oncologist that I did this one. So I am using myself as a guine pig to some extent. So we shall see on the 12 th, regardless  which way it goes I promise to let you all know.

Wendy3, please keep us posted!! The folks at the dispensary were serious, dedicated pharmacists who were very excited about the potential anti-cancer properties that CBD may have. I certainly do hope that it is true. Hugs to you!

I'm excited to see that more people are posting here. I would love to see the social stigma disappear from our society regarding marijuana.

The potential of this plant reaches far past anti anxiety or pain relief. Anti tumoral effects have been proven in recent studies. As well as the anti pain anti inflammatory properties. I have been using marijuana since September the 18th. My tumors in my breasts have either shrunk significantly or disappeared. I feel pretty darn good. We may never know whether it was the MJ or the tamoxifen having such great effectiveness. But I do know that I will continue with the MJ for the duration of this disease. Not only am I confident in the anti tumoral effects, I'm a much more relaxed person. I am so thankful to be a Colorado resident. Anyone who is reluctant to try MJ, could be missing out on something potentially life saving. Those of us who have tried with such success, should do everything we can to get the word out. I have been screaming it out from the roof tops.

Wendy- there is no shame in smoking it. It is the only way to get the CBD THC unfiltered. Every other way is filtered through your liver. I take the oils and edibles. But I smoke a few times a day as well. I haven't noticed being any less productive. I just feel...... Good!!

I can't remember exact details about how to get it in a non-MM state, but I'm sure I've read that CBD oil is legal in all 50 states because it is non-psychoactive. I believe this was discussed in one of the medical marijuana threads on these boards, but I know I saw it elsewhere online as well. You probably don't even need a MM card if you're not planning to use THC as well. Worth checking into.

Since I'm not a cop or a doctor I guess I can say the obvious. If you can't get a card and you're planning to smoke for pain relief, stress or insomnia, I'm pretty sure your kids or grandkids can help you out. Of course that wouldn't be a high-CBD strain, but the option is there.

Well I've been trying to sort out what's legal and not w/o a medical card in Oregon. I'm receiving narcotics for Pain Management, and with a Hip Replacement next week need to be by the book until I'm ready to get off Opioids.

I was told there were only a few things I can purchase legally. One is the leaf and buds ithemselves. Any Estrogen positive person must be careful to have strains high in CBDs and low in THC, as MJ is estrogenic. Regular MJ could increase cancer growth. There are a few CBD edibles. Otherwise, all oils take a MM card here. And if that's the case in Oregon, I doubt oils are freely available in other States.

Think it's best for me to get my MM card when ready, but that's a few months away.

If others find out different info than what I was told, please let us know
