What are the chances of cancerin the other breast?

(Newbie to this forum) I was diagnosed with cancer in the left breast and the MRI showed a suspicious area in the right breast. How common is it to have cancer in both breasts at the same time? I have no family history of cancer. Have the US and US biopsy on Wednesday and am worried that it is cancer in the right breast.

Only about 1.5% of women diagnosed have bilateral breast cancer are the stats I can find. It is very rare

I had IDC diagnosed in my right breast and ended up having a suspicious area biopsied in the left that ended up being benign. Good luck to you!

I had IDC in the right breast and a suspicious area in the left one, which came back benign. I don't think bilateral breast cancer is common at all.

It is rare. I've read a ton of studies on it and most show the incidence to be between 1 and 3%.
