Sleeve? We don't need no stinkin sleeve, right Janie? Mine actually seems to stay about the same whether I wear it or not. I DO wear it when I exercise (which, actually, I've been doing more regularly, if you can count treadmilling). Again, no difference, but it makes me feel virtuous.
Mary, I swear, you need to slow down or something, girl. You are too prone to getting ill or strained or whatever. Hope the back is better.
Nancy, so glad to hear you're doing better. Do you have 12 feet of snow yet?
Later girls. Dull weekend here.
Paula -
I haven't been measured for a sleeve yet but I agree... why can't they put back some fake nodes or something
-
Paula--We got our school pictures on disks yesterday and I just e-mailed one of me and a couple of little babies from my daycare. They wouldn't sit still for the photographer and their mom wasn't there so she took some of the pictures with me in them. I also have pictures of my classes and me. They came out kinda good. I've had fun looking at all of them. I hope you get the picture okay. You'll have to let me know. I went to Glendive today for a workshop on Dyslexia and Nursery Rhymes. It was very informative and I learned some good stuff. I did a little Christmas shopping at K-mart while I was up there and listened to the football game on the way home. Our team won 20 to 14 at the very end. Now they're in the state semi-finals again. When I was bopping along the road today something whammed up against my windshield when I met a truck on this hill. I didn't know what it was--I thought something fell off the truck. Anyway, when I got to Wibaux and stopped to get gas--I noticed that one of my little awareness ribbons had come off. They've been on there forever. I guess it lost its magnetism. HMMMM?? Well, gotta get to bed. It has been a kinda long day--had to get up early cuz the workshop started at 8 am and it was 90 miles away!! Oh, Mary, it was 54 degrees and sunny and all of our snow has melted at the moment. Global warming and all and it's supposed to be warm all next week. Yay!!!! Night all!! Life is Good Smiles NancyLee
-
Cheryl,
Think I will take a closer look at the lymphatic system. We may be on to something.
Nancylee,
I am going to pm you my email address. I want to see the pictures too! Do you have any website resources for the Dyslexia and Rhymes? That peaked my interest. Always looking for good interventions. I just did a challenging evaluation where everything just starting falling into place ... it is a very unusal case. Wish it were not confidential .. would love to share. I just did two workshops .. one on sport psychology because I am a psychologist and avid sports fan, and the other on the mind and body experience and how attitude and hope are healing entities because .... well you know why. Also, I have to have 40 clock CE hours by the end of the year (bi-annually and this is the year mine are due) for my license, and I have to have 10 PLU's by June for my certification in the schools (each one is several clock hours -- 10 are equal to two college classes, and can be gotten in several different ways - due every 5 years). I am getting 3 this year for supervising my intern ... and that takes a lot a lot a lot of time. All my football teams lost this weekend...most of them in upsets. Basketball is just around the corner.
Hey Hey Paula, hope you are still doing well...sometimes boring is good.
Mary, Thinking about you. -
Hi Yall, I was doing great yesterday and this a.m. but hubby came in yesterday and we went to Panera bread in Springfield(we had to run to Best Buy)and we got breakfast and I went to the bathroom and twisted to get paper and there went my back again!!!! I caught myself and stopped so it isn't as painful as the other day but I can't sit right. This just isn't fair. I go for my swallow test tomorrow so I should know if theres a tumor in my throat pretty quick. I will be glad on Wed. when I get the ultrasound on the thyroid and see if thats whats causing the mass in my neck. It has me a little worried because my voice is grumbly and it hurts to yell. My grandpa had larynx cancer but they operated and he never got cancer again and no treatment. This was when I was like 12 years old. He talked real light as they took a good chunk of his voice box out. Mine is just no doubt thyroid. Glad the gang is all back and I will P.M. you too Nancy because I want to see the picture. Later, Mary
-
mary,
praying and crossing all my fingers and toes for a good outcome this week. it is time for good things to come your way. sending hugs............. janie
nancylee.... the pictures are super. thanks for sending them... everyone including the teacher is so cute. -
Oh my, do we have beautiful gals or what? Everyone looks great. Nancy, you like rings, me too. I blame it on my Gypsy roots. Took hubby back to his truck and I am resting. He has to come home Thrusday for Dr. apt. on Fri. for his neck. We may both be in the nursing home next wk. I need the warm sunny weather of Scottsdale. I got a free ticket from Southwest the other day for my skymiles. I would be on my way already but got to wait on these darn test. Well I better get going. Gosh, we have a great looking group. Thanks for the well wishes. Hugs, Mary
-
Mary, a wave of positive thoughts and prayers coming your way from Texas. You're overdue for some good, reassuring news. Then rest up for a nice trip to Arizona. We're holding your hand....
Very cool to "see" everyone.
Paula -
Thanks for all the good thoughts girls. Ya know I have a phone full of pictures of me. I have to go through and erase them after my 4 year old grandson has been here. He walks around holding my phone or even in the car and snaps pics of me when I am yawning, sneezing, eating, caughing even up my nose. If someone ever saw those, they would really be scared. How he gets those goofy pics I will never know. Thay scare me when I go through them to delete them. My eyes will look real big and my chin real small, or my nose real big and my eyes too small. He is a character. Got to get my grandson to school, (the high school one). Hugs, Mary
-
Mary, I don't even count phone pictures as legitimate pictures. They are just too goofy.
Hope you're done with your car pooling duties for today.
Yeah, maybe we should put together a calendar like those old ladies in the movie.
You all must be cold, with the possible exception of PJ, because it is plum chilly here.
Oh, I almost forgot. I emailed someone about a clinical trial I found on lymphedema yesterday. She answered me bright and early this morning. You have to travel to the University of WI to participate. I will re-read the study and pass the word along. If something helps to get rid of these garments, I would be willing to try it. Of course, WI is a long way from GA. -
Janie, I saw something on the lymphedema thing, but didn't think I'd be able to foot the bill to Madison. (Altho, hey, I'd have a free place to stay) Let me know what else you find out.
Mary, waiting to hear some good news from you.....
Paula -
Hey girls, They did not do the swallow test because I do not have trouble now. She asked what kind of trouble I was having and I said, none now, so they thought it would not do any good. My neck is still tight off and on so tomorrow they do the ultrasound on my thyroid and that should tell us whats up. Hubby came home early this a.m. until Sat. He has his dr. apt. Fri. Lets see I have to put up with him today, Wed. Thurs. oh crap! He will have to find something to do between naps. Theres nothing needs fixed but I bet he will find something. Janie, it has been warm here and getting warmer. I think 60's the next few days. It is really foggy this a.m. This weather is pretty good but arthiritis is here to spend the winter from cold blast last wk. My back and hips aren't happy. Hugs, Mary
-
Mary, it's great to hear your swallowing troubles are over. Perhaps you should keep testing that by eating chocolate every few hours. Have fun on that ultrasound....
Well, should be a drag of a day at the newspaper: election day always is a hard one. I'll work all day and then go back up tonight. I hate elections....
Later,
Paula -
Mary,
You are being tested to the hilt. Hope all news is good news for both you and DH. It is raining and cold here. Not good weather to travel between schools in, or anywere for that matter.
PJ, The elections here are really getting nasty. I don't want to vote for any of them. I guess I will end up voting against people instead of for people, because I do not wish to vote FOR any of 'em. -
Dang, we were almost bumped off the first page!
Not much here. It was quite hot today. You'd think it was, oh, September. I have to say, I'm happy with the elections. Now, if they can ALL just get to work and actually get some positive things done, I'll be ecstatic.
Mary, how're you feeling? How's the pain? When was the thyroid thing? Janie, hear anything else on that clinical study? Nancy, how are YOU?
Paula -
Hey girls, still having some throat trouble. Brother-in-law had 4 bypasses 2 days ago and Mom-in-law had heart attach yesterday a.m. and we lost her today. She went as she wished, pretty quick and painless and I feel better knowing she is where she wants to be and did not suffer. Later, Mary
-
Oh, Mary, you've had such a hard time here lately. I wish there were something I could do. I'm so sorry about your mother-in-law. It is good that she didn't suffer. This dark cloud has got to lift soon for you.
What's the next step with your throat? Weren't you going to have an ultrasound?
Hugs,
Paula -
Mary, I'm sorry for your loss. You have my prayers. I'll be gone for a little while because I have pneumonia again. They're not sure if it's new or I just never fully got over it in the first place so I go to the hospital tomorrow to hopefully get well this time. Talk to you all later. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee
-
Thanks girls. Nancy I will say some prayers for you and I hope you get this over and gone. I know how you feel. P.J. I wish I was there today as it went from 75 yesterday to about 30 this a.m. I had my ultrasound but Dr. is gone again so I don't know when I will hear. My throat swells and goes down. I can hardly swallow sometimes and it is fine sometimes. I am getting a little tired of it. I will no doubt have to get the M.R.I. with contrast and see what the mass is. My M.I.L.'s reg. Dr. took her off her heart meds a month ago. The heart Dr. was really upset about that. She would still be here had he not. She did want to go from a quick heart attack instead of suffering from the lung cancer so I think somehow someone was listening. She has wanted to go for some time now so she is happy. They put in a stint and she developed a blood clot in the heart so all in all she went in about 6 hours. Hubby was home for his Dr. apt. so that worked out. He has to see about surgery now so we are going to another Dr. for him next month. The surgery has more cons than pros so I don't know about that. Better get. We are doing a mamorial service for family only Wed. so hubby is going to be off work for 2 wks. ouch..... Better get going. Hugs and good luck Nancy. Mary
-
Mary, Sorry to hear about your MIL. I am thinking about you and all your trials and worries. Things will get better.
NancyLee, get better soon. Thoughts, prayers and hug coming your way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
PJ, I will forward the info from UW. -
uh, that was memorial not mamorial. I swear my brains are gone. I saw it when I proof read but had to scat so I couldn't fix it. Hey Janie, is it warm down there or are you getting this cold front? I am busy cleaning. People like to pop in and say "sorry" I bet they are "sorry" they popped in here cause I haven't cleaned good for a while, I am doing it now. My house is straight but the nooks and crannies were a little sloppy, not any more. My daughter in Az. may come home. That would be nice. She just got her own store and it is new so she has been very busy opening(Walgreens) and it would cost her a bundle to come home for a couple days but she may. It would be worth it if she could stay a few days but she would have to get right back. I don't mean her grandma isn't worth it but it is a lot of money for a memorial service. My nephew can't get in either. Well, guess I better finish up cleaning. Hubby was going to install a living room light for me and I couldn't pick the right one....I will hire that done, we are talking electricity and we have been down the electric- fire road before. Then it was new flooring in dinning room. There is not enough time for that. I do want the white carpet out! Who in their right mind would put white carpet in a dinning room when there is no kitchen table space? I had white carpet in my other house and swore to never get it again and I have it all through here, the same color!!!! I want brown or black something that don't show every little spot! Gotta get. Thanks again for the kindness girls, Mary
-
Mary, I'm with you on hiring out the electrical work. And plumbing. There's a reason those folks get paid well.... You sound crazily busy. I guess I should clean my nooks and crannies, too. I hope your daughter gets to come home. Even just for a short time.
I had a facial today (a first for me) and got a trim. I had a gift certificate for a day spa here. It was fun. Would have been more fun with some wine, but then, I've always had trouble drinking while lying down with stuff on my face...
Nancy, I hate it that you're sick again. I hope they get it cleared up for real this time. Mary, I hope they get the stupid throat thing figured out quickly. That's got to be pretty frustrating. Janie, that study thing looks a bit much. If you start taking that stuff, let me know how it works. (Notice, I'm letting YOU be the guinea pig....)
Later girls, stew and cornbread are ready...
Oh, one more thing: Nathan has wanted to make these berry freezer pops for weeks. So finally he and granny made them yesterday after school. (She stays with him Fridays). So he tries one after she gets home: it was a real shame they used a half cup of SALT instead of sugar.... blech) -
Ha, Ha, Ha, thats funny about the salt. I accidently put sugar on my ham and beans one time....I had a little too much to drink and thought they were the best I ever ate. MIL told me the next day what I had done. That stew and corn bread sounds good and I know Janie is with me on that! We will be right over. I hope everyone had a great wk. end and now the cold comes through. I think every thing in my body hurts. Later girls, Mary
-
Mary, enough good tequila will help those body aches.... Is your daughter coming for the service? What's up with the throat stuff?
Janie, fall has finally arrived in Texas. (Only 60s/70s for the week) How's the weather there?
Nancy, I'm sure it's blizzardy up your way. Hope you're doing better and not in the hospital long.
TTYL,
Paula -
Yes, save us a seat for the vittles. It is cold at night and in the mornings here. Mild in the afternoons. I just wear a sweater or jacket in the mornings, no coat. Mary, how are you doing? Any more tests? Hope Nancylee gets out of the hospital feeling good and staying well.
-
Hey Girls, We have been busy with MIL's burial and getting her stuff done as hubby is co. exc. and he will not be home again for 3 or 4 wks. so he is trying to get things done so others can handle it from here. I have an Onky apt. Thurs. and my reg. Dr. next wk. My throat is better so maybe it is thyroid, it comes and goes. When it swells it is around the adams apple and beside it and it is in my neck not really my throat. It feels like I am being choked. I have a rough time swallowing sometimes. It will come on for an hour or half hour and go away or it will last all day for 3 or 4 days. It has been gone except for a few mins. here and there so maybe the higher thyroid is helping but now I get jittery so I am going to see about cutting the med. down a bit. Hubby has been down in the dumps but only natural. He wanted to put a new dryer in but doesn't know how to get the door off the laundry closet(slideing). Thank goodness because I have a feeling that would not be good right now. It is cold out and he would have to be under the house and all. I would rather wait until warm weather because if he couldn't get it in I would be without one. He can't even lift....Better get, I need more coffee and take the a grandson to school. Later, hope Nancy is getting better. Hugs girls, Mary
-
Mary, are you taking any meds or fiber or supplements or anything including undue anxiety that could make your throat swell? I guess you have already thought of that. There are so many things that do that, including good ol Herceptin. I used to feel like I would choke to death on the way home from treatment. Anyway, I hope you get over it and get good news about it.
Guess I will go play restaurant trivia again tonight. We won last Tuesday. I thought they would ask a lot of election type questions and studied up on that a little before leaving. Not one election question. It is fun. You go and eat and/or drink at the restaurant. Your team can be anywhere from one to whatever seated at your table. They ask a question and play a song to give you time to write down your answer and turn it in. You get two songs for the big half-time and the final questions. It takes over two hours to do it all. It is a good chance to mingle and converse. If you win, it usually covers the bill. My kind of competition, while sitting on your keester, eating and drinking.
Hey PJ. Get well already Nancylee!
Pleasant Tuesday everybody, -
Janie, I did think of nerves but it seems to come if I am nervous or not. The new thyroid med. seems to have helped. They did see a mass beside my Adams Apple but they said it could be thyroid. Dr said it can swell and go down sometimes due to fluctuation of meds. It has been good for 4 days now which is a record so maybe the meds are working. I seem to have a grumbly voice off and on and it feels like I strain my voice box when I talk loud or sing(and I don't sing well or often) It did start when I quit my meds. for a month. I have thought of nerves though and tried to keep track of it. I did get really bad at the hosp. when MIL was dieing but...I forgot to take thyroid med. that morning. We finally bury her tomorrow. Apparently creamation takes a while (8 hours) so it takes a couple days to get whats left back. They are putting a little here and taking the rest to the farm in Fla. where she grew up. She would like that. Hubby decided I need a new washer and dryer. He got the washer in but the dryer has to wait. I haven't tried to see if it works, I am affraid to. Well better get. Mary
-
Thinking of you today Mary. hugssssssss
-
Me, too, Mary.
More hugs,
Paula
