Does anyone know about "Cancer Treatment Center of America"?

It seems they are selective in who they accept as patients and what type insurance they accept. In doing so, they can claim a higher percentage of good outcomes. They don't use better medicines, but they do seem to integrate complimentary therapies along with standard treatment.

There is one near me advertised in Philadelphia, but I have not heard anything about it one way or the other. Would be interested in anyone's experience. Immediate test results is a big plus, the waiting is the worst part!

I live 45 outside of philly and was told when I called that the only center that could see was the one in Ohio and that they have lots of women who "travel" for treatment. I decided that wasn't for me and am happy at Johns Hopkins. The one in Ohio was the only one who would accept our insurance and they never could explain why they would but not the one closer to me.

Prior to my understanding of the approach that CTCA uses, I wondered if perhaps they had some type of medicines that were more effective than what other medical facilities were using for cancer treatment. Was I somehow getting less effective drugs for bc from my oncologist? Once I learned what they were about, i no longer had that concern.

It would definitely be nice if my insurance picked up the tab for the complimentary treatments such as acupuncture, naturopathy and reiki, but I am thankful that I am able to get standard quality conventional treatment and testing. I guess it's up to me if I want to spend money on the complimentary therapies.

If you can get into a CTCA, I'm sure you're going to get treated well. (Quick test results? Yes, thank you!) It's just that CTCA is not the only place you are going to get effective, quality medical treatment for bc.
